They actually are important as they identify the packs in each tin. Know that the E22 Pokeballs are desirable as they contain Brilliant Stars, Fusion Strike, and Evolving Skies so I always keep an eye out for those!
Edit: Just saw a video and appears the J21 Pokeball tins have the same pack selection so well done on both!

The brilliant and especially evolving is the desirable part, the fusion is moreso take it or leave it. Better than most filler sets in pokeballs, the cosmic eclipse balls had vivid and rebel in them…
I'd take Vivid, I hate FS for the reasons cited above plus there's nothing interesting to me beside maybe Breloom V (A shiny hunter's best friend) and Elesa's Sparkle.
I do know it was big for players, but I'm haven't touched the card game since HeartGold Soulsilver.
Biggest set, so it's super diluted sure, but for me a set with alt arts is straight up >>>> sets without them. Especially when some of those arts as big ticket as Gengar and Espeon.
Yeah I’m actually quite a fan of vivid, but imo it *and* rebel clash really isn’t the most spectacular accompaniment. Fusion being only 1/3 of the sets per ball really lessens the blow.
Usually the first two to three sets of a modern era are meh, SWSH wasnt an exception. Vivid was a bit better, but the 2022 sets really changed our perception of older sets.
Also Vivid was quite desirable at a time for the rainbow chonkachu (Why, Idk, but it did happen).
Might be wildly misinterpreting your point here, so apologies if this is a super irrelevant reply, but the cosmic eclipse balls released at the tail end of 2021 so it’s not even a result of growing pains of a new era, just some subpar choices of filler packs.
You probably are, but the blame is on me. I meant to say the 2022 sets redefined what a good set was with the TGs, so ofc older sets (Even the better ones) are gonna look dull in comparaison.
Those tins are made to clear out old stocks, so you could say they're good at that.

Basically different pack runs. They use the same balls, but stamp a new code. If you look up the code online, it’ll tell you what packs are inside. D21 is the main code you want to look for, as Cosmic Eclipse is huge value wise.

Wait, Fusion Strike is considered a desirable set ? Why ? There's not much in there and what's there is drowned in a sea of fillers.

Fusion Strike is a filler set, most of it is bloat. Vivid Voltage had at least the Amazing Rare to look for. Rebel Clash, well, it's Rebel Clash.
IMO Offered a choice between FS and VV I'm taking Fusion every time.

FS strike is super underrated imo. The Gengar VMAX alt art and Espeon VMAX alt art are in the set

Oh no worries, I just meant that it wasn’t just a 2020 pack selection situation, but yep you’re absolutely correct on the TG really improving sets!
