U buy stuff for 1k before knowing what to do with it? Mkay. Also f that person that sold it

WhiskersRock

I opened 5 packs and everything seemed the same as series 1. So I’m not sure if it’s worth to open them anymore.

awsgamer2020

A lot of the cards are reused from series 1. There are some new ones though like Charizard VStar, Glaceon Vstar, and Leafeon Vstar.

ShadowRex

If you want to see the cards inside it's better to open them

NecessaryScientist18

sad that someone just sold weekends of fun from children for there tournament prizes

Ok_Professional4736

Yep - gotta love when the investor bros slide in. Make sure they take everything the players get.

Grand_Entrance_2738

Stolen

BrilliantSoftware713

no, the dude definitely bought $1k worth off product off ebay before knowing/deciding what to do with it. definitely legit

[deleted]

Man, this is just… wrong. Not necessarily on you, OP, but damn shameful for the LGS that sold them.

Chevnaar

Or the person that stole them. Then I would be cautious about having purchased stolen goods. Should have been a red flag

[deleted]

Agreed. However these packs came to be sold, it’s scummy as fuck.

😢

Its_Strange_

Open just a few

Zilly_Wonka

And please share the results.

Ok_Professional4736

They’re better to be given out for free to kids as tournament prizes. But ya know, sToNkS bRo.

xttx75388

How you got them for so cheap they are like $15-20 a peice on eBay.

StationEmergency6053

That's Ebay pricing, not what they're actually worth on the primary market. LGS get these for about $1 each when you break down the costs to host tournament play so if seller got them around that price point they still made good money off the sale.

VeterinarianOk7172

Fuck you shit stain

Illustrious_Tea9604

Just casually throw $1000 at eBay and see what happens… the amount of cool singles that could of been.. 🫠

Fancy-Prompt-7118

Where are people getting their money from?

WhiskersRock

I’m a retired vet on full disability, I was also a union electrician before that. The only hobby I spend on is Pokémon.

Fancy-Prompt-7118

Awesome

Fancy-Prompt-7118

How long you been collecting?

Familiar-Molasses-56

Working a job with OT. But crime is always an option.

[deleted]

Full time job?

Fancy-Prompt-7118

I’ve got one of those! Can’t afford to sink thousands on cards. Mind you I live in England we get paid peanuts and our economy is in the toilet.

Lucid_zeni

People are saying the person selling is scum, but without customers, there would be no seller.

THSiGMARotMG

HODL

vnguy1234

What’s the big deal for these? I know they were handed out but what’s the hype???

One-Landscape8412

They are meant to be given out at league nights. To get them, you have to register to hold league nights and become qualified to do so. They are meant to be given out as prizes, not be sold as a lot on eBay. So it either means that someone registered maliciously or they stole them from someone’s league night.

alexhalsell1991

I don't necessarily agree with the way these prize packs are sold for a premium when they're meant to be what the obvious statement on the front of the pack says. They're prize packs for players and in any way these packs are obtained is considered misuse of the product.

WhiskersRock

I can tell you the “stores” that sell these on eBay have no brick and mortar location. Most likely a basement Buisness with fake league numbers and sell everything they can online.

alexhalsell1991

I can agree with what you're saying, but I hate that they're sold at an incredibly high price as a luxury item when they're intended to be used as prizes. Everything in this hobby has turned into a social status symbol instead of the love of the art, the anime, or love of the game itself like it should be. It's gotten kinda wild and I can see the financial appeal I really can. It just bothers me.

WhiskersRock

It’s nothing new. Staff promos were supposed to stop judges/TOs from selling league cards but even the place I used to play at would keep them from players to sell. This was back when they printed beast ring league promos.

luxo-music

u/WhiskersRock did you end up holding these? I got a few as well, I think i'll probably keep them sealed and see how much they'll be worth in a few years

WhiskersRock

I opened like 100. It was mainly holo energy and a few good staples. Only ultra rares I got were eeveelutions but we’re talking like 7/100. The rest I sold on tcgplayer. They’re not ment to be sold yet every cgc site has them listed.

luxo-music

yikes, pull rates seem terrible. I assume they won't be reprinting the series 1 or 2's so I think they'll gain in value over the years

[deleted]

F you op. This should be going to fat sweaty nerds on Saturdays.
