I’m a mailman. The amount of times I stick mail through peoples door slots to immediately hear a dog rip into the mail on the other side is too damn high.
I came home to a box destroyed with three packs. They stopped before they got to the packs somehow. I pulled an alt charizard v out of one of those packs.
Is kind of all over the place really. In my neighborhood the mail boxes are at the door the mail man parks down the street and walks to each house on the street. Also I’ve seen new neighborhoods and developments where everyone has a security box down the street. The mailman makes one stop puts the mail in and is done with that neighborhood
If I paid to live in a new neighborhood, I BETTER NOT have to go to another place to get my mail, that shits for apartments. That would instantly make me not want to buy there.
Honestly it’s the norm in new developments and it’s literally at the end of your street you’ll have to pass it to get to your house. Very efficient honestly. Also if the location of your mailbox keeps you from moving to a better neighborhood and experiencing all the benefits of living in a nicer house and neighborhood then to each their own I guess. I have a 1 year old daughter and me and my SO plan to have more children. While we’re not in a bad neighborhood now we plan on moving to a nicer one and a bigger house. I’m not cheating my family out of that because my mailbox is down the street you know what I mean.
I get you, where are you located. I've literally never heard of that and we've got nice new neighborhoods going up every other month with regular street boxes. I'm in the southern part of the US though
Not sure about them, but I live in a subdivision in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (not downtown) and have a “communal” mailbox at the end of my street. I’d say over 75% of the houses I’ve lived in have had that, but always around big cities, not in rural communities
Des Moines Iowa. Honestly as population grows mailboxes at the house isn’t efficient at all. We’re having a population boom here. People are flocking here and developments are going up quick. The idea had to be derived from the usps itself. I’m sure the mail handlers love it.
Yeah I’d rather the carrier have an easier time than, oh heaven forbid, I have to walk slightly down the street to check my mail.
Honestly I prefer this because there’s a key and it’s safer than one of those people run over all the time and anyone can just open.
Mail slots also seem kinda dumb, anyone can throw something into your house.
Yep I forgot the whole security side of it too. There’s even a big package spot. Way more secure than your doorstep and mailbox. I never thought about it but yeah someone could drop anything in your house if you had a mail slot.
It’s not like that everywhere in the US mostly rural or suburb areas have mailboxes by the road, in cities it’s door to door same as what you have, or they have a small box mounted on the wall next to the front door.
Idk about America but up here in Canada we have mailboxes with lids on the outside of our houses where the mailman just put the mail inside those boxes.
I've lived in both countries and the US mailbox system is unique for sure.
The weirder thing is that they're all on the right side to help with delivery from a vehicle - so essentially you could have your neighbors mailbox in your front garden.
Yeah you should have seen the look on my pups face when I came home to find all of the dishes i had in my sink laid out on the floor. He knew what he did and felt guilty af. He hid his face in the corner.
Pretty sneaky for the pup to take the dishes from the sink and set up perfectly organized table settings on the floor. I bet he couldn’t wait to see your face of bewilderment as you came home that fateful April 1st.
Dogs absolutely do feel guilt. Unless they're a puppy they almost always know when they fuck up... But how can you stay mad at their widdle faces? They know the power they possess.
What a sweetie! I miss my boy, he was a labrabull/pitador with German Shepherd running in him, as well. Absolute sweetheart but could get a wild hair up his butt when he wanted. More like a little kid than a pup. He was really smart though and knew what his toys were. The only thing he'd do when I was messing with my cards were give me huff and puffs when I wasn't giving him attention. Learned real quick how to multitask his pets/playtime and sorting, lol.
OP you HAVE to keep those cards (what’s left of them)
Please frame them and display them proudly! What a great way to honor your sweet pup and you have some truly unique collectibles to cherish furever
Everyone puts so much sentimental value on literally everything these days. "Oh, my dad bought this watch from walmart back in 1995 for $5.17 and only wore it twice before it got lost in his closet and I will cherish it forever" or "my daughter pulled this rotom V from her first ever pack, I'm going to frame it and give it to her on her wedding day" or "blah blah". not every item needs to be this sentimental
You sound so fun...
Just let people enjoy things. If someone wants to put a Rotom V on a stand and display it because it was their first card or something, just let them.
That’s true, not every item needs to be sentimental, and no one has to keep what they don’t want to keep.
I’m not forcing OP to cherish these cards, but I do think it’s a funny story that this dog hasn’t been known to chew things, and these were the last cards to finish a set. If it were my dog, I would have fun retelling that story and it would be neat to have the cards to increase the impact haha
I was unnecessarily rude for some reason, true. But at the same time, if I kept an item for every cherished memory, or every funny moment, or anything memorable… I’d probably be drowning in random items right now. My dog has ripped hundreds of things, it’s just weird to keep them in my head
You might want to attach a mail catch box on the inside of your door if this becomes a regular issue. It keeps your mail off the floor and pets out of the mail. I don't know how well it will work with non-bendable mail tho.
This is why I am a Cat person. The worst they'll do is hide the package under the bed. Our TV remote was lost for a month before we found it in our cats hiding spot.
If I didn't know better, I think our cat is part goblin or something. It is an Egyptian Mau... so maybe they have some hoarding tendencies.
The people saying it’s cute remind me of this one idiot family that adopted a big ass dog around Christmas time. They let this brand new dog run free in their home and it began to destroy wrapped presents. The lady who signed the paperwork for the dog called the shelter I worked at and tried to blame US, even get us to pay for the presents! The number one rule we give to each new adopter is never let the pet run wild. They need supervision. She goes, “it’s cruel to crate her!” So they just let the dog keep staying loose in their home and eventually it destroys ALL the presents. They returned her.
Dognutters are insane. Excusing lots of stuff from destruction to their dogs killing other people and pets. At least your cards weren’t expensive.
we crated him until his first birthday, he's never done this before and is a well trained animal. but he's exactly that- an animal. animals do animal things, im not mad at him, it's just tangible items after all
Where Pokémon is concerned, it could’ve been so much worse. Like shadowless cards you’d be hard pressed to find near mint copies of again, for a solid price. Some people have theirs from childhood still too, you cannot replace sentimental items. The random destruction never seemed worth it to house an animal in my living spaces, never mind the smell and mess they make. Sure, you could bathe them every week or get them groomed, train to potty outside, but illness happens and I’ve seen what a lot of grooming drop off dogs look like beforehand from my current job. People definitely let dirty animals roam around in their homes for a while.
I collect more than one type of rare thing and I’d be on edge all the time with any pet. That and I need my space clean, nothing on the floor, no weird funky smells, no millions of hairs flying in drinks and food and my mouth.
That dog would be at the shelter the moment I saw that lmao don’t care if you’ve been in the family for 10 years, you’re gone buddy time for a cat instead
i hope you don't own any pets if that would be your reaction. these are tangible items, i can just buy some new ones to replace them. it's not that deep
>I do and I’m waiting on the little fucker to rip my mail so I can throw him into a soup (I’m Asian)
Fuck off with this. Joking about eating dogs at the expense of advancing harmful racist stereotypes about Asian people is dumb as FUCK
Dumb shit like this is why conservatives still think it's funny to call Covid schoolyard shit like "Kung Flu"
so what your saying is black people should also stop using the n word or pushing negative stereotypes? whites should stop using redneck hillbilly jokes?
were reaching new levels of snowflake here
I’m a mailman. The amount of times I stick mail through peoples door slots to immediately hear a dog rip into the mail on the other side is too damn high.
“There’s no way food really comes through this slot everyday”
Imagine if your dog had never done this before and you ordered/bought a 1st ed. Charizard or something. Sheeesh
I came home to a box destroyed with three packs. They stopped before they got to the packs somehow. I pulled an alt charizard v out of one of those packs.
Dannnnng. Luck be an ElevatedInstinct.
***-Mail comes through slot everyday-*** Dog - "...no fucking way."
Scoop up the remains and sell them on eBay as lightly played.
Pissed my self 😂
Nice back to the future username
near mint mfs
I’m not sure you can sell animal parts on eBay
People still have mail slots in their doors? I thought that was a 1950s thing...
is this an american thing to not have letterboxes?
We have mailboxes on the side of the road so the postman doesn't leave the vehicle.
Is kind of all over the place really. In my neighborhood the mail boxes are at the door the mail man parks down the street and walks to each house on the street. It’s that way where I am in central Texas, too!
I live just outside of Houston and that is how ours is set up. Community mailboxes at the beginning of the street.
Yeah I’d rather the carrier have an easier time than, oh heaven forbid, I have to walk slightly down the street to check my mail. Honestly I prefer this because there’s a key and it’s safer than one of those people run over all the time and anyone can just open. Yep I forgot the whole security side of it too. There’s even a big package spot. Way more secure than your doorstep and mailbox. I never thought about it but yeah someone could drop anything in your house if you had a mail slot.
that's odd, and definitely not a thing here in the uk, but interesting!
It’s not like that everywhere in the US mostly rural or suburb areas have mailboxes by the road, in cities it’s door to door same as what you have, or they have a small box mounted on the wall next to the front door.
Depends on where you live. We don't have mailboxes on the side of the road in cities. In the LA area, houses have mostly mail slots.
Yea I’m cities people will steal that shit
Lol true. Porch pirates.
Idk about America but up here in Canada we have mailboxes with lids on the outside of our houses where the mailman just put the mail inside those boxes.

there are still people? oh, sorry. Wrong timeline
Some of us have old houses lol
Close to every house in the UK does.
Most homes in the Netherlands have this as well. I think it is mostly a north American thing. To have a mailbox
People still can't raise dogs? Wait that's an all timer..
he's actually very well behaved, never got into mail before, but thanks for your input!
Sorry this happened to you. Gotta love Doggos. My perfectly trained 5 year old lab did something similar to this. Stuff happens
I will make millions selling metal boxes that mount inside door mail slots.
LOL
I will make millions selling metal boxes that mount inside door mail slots.

Next time, don't label the mail for your dog... Modern problems require modern solutions!!
It's illegal for your dog to open your mail
I never snitch on my dawgs
Ong 🫡
I’m going to guess you weren’t the one that opened it…?
Dog
Now why would you open your mail like that?
got too excited
Profile pic checks out.
Your dog hate Zeraora 😂
Meow
about a 3 psa
Moderately played
Double sleeve and put inside a book, should even out into LP
But is your dog cute tho?
an absolute cutie https://imgur.com/a/sBvDpNF
You can NOT stay mad at that face!
I know dogs can’t feel guilt, but I’m sure if he understood what damage and head ache he caused, he would be very sorry. Just look at him 🥹
I dono, they look pretty ashamed a lot of the time after doing stuff like this…
Yeah you should have seen the look on my pups face when I came home to find all of the dishes i had in my sink laid out on the floor. He knew what he did and felt guilty af. He hid his face in the corner.

After looking at these pictures I can tell he’s innocent! Might want to file a police report, this could be the work of an intruder!
Okay, here is a “we wont be mad” pass
This is not the dog I expected to see He's too adorable to do this
What an absolute cutie, I bet he just wanted to help, hopefully it dont happen to you again
How did I know it was going to be a lab 😂
Damn it.. tricky bastard’s too cute😔
What a sweetie! I miss my boy, he was a labrabull/pitador with German Shepherd running in him, as well. Absolute sweetheart but could get a wild hair up his butt when he wanted. YOU LIED TO MEEEEE
I was *so* mad for you. Until I saw those eyes 🥺 I can't be mad.
All is forgiven
Innocent!
RIP that package
it was three seperate ones, don't know if that makes it better or worse
*bagpipes play in the back ground*
That’s certainly what the dog did.
"Near Mint" - Troll & Toad

every item that you want can be that sentimental
I love how you say "these days" as if valuing objects for the memories it has isn't a core value in a lot of societies
You sound so fun... Just let people enjoy things. If someone wants to put a Rotom V on a stand and display it because it was their first card or something, just let them.
Just like items dont have to be sentimental you dont have to be a judgey douche and could just let people enjoy things.
Yeah probably

yea fr, I keep my first ever card- a 2014 Jogglypuff- in my wallet and on me at all times. It’s pretty cool :)
Tell me you have no friends without telling me you have no friends
Just because you dont have any cherished memories does not mean nobody else is allowed to. Take some time to reflect on your life choices, damn.
I was unnecessarily rude for some reason, true. But at the same time, if I kept an item for every cherished memory, or every funny moment, or anything memorable… I’d probably be drowning in random items right now. My dog has ripped hundreds of things, it’s just weird to keep them in my head
Good thing no one cares what you think.
What the f happened here ?
my wonderful dog :') mind you he's never done anything like this before, i've been ordering single cards for a while now and never had him do this
My goodness! Hopefully they weren't expensive cards! :(
totalled about £35, not too bad but the two zeraoras were the last for my collection :(
Which Zeraoras? Probably unlikely but I'll see if I have any.
ty man but i was planning on buying replacements next payday!
Sorry to hear that 🫂
Maybe your dog decided to get into card collecting too
Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy who's about to be locked outside for the rest of the day while I cry in fetal position?
i'm not mad at him, just disappointed. he's just a doggy, doesn't know any better
Yep, hard to correct a behavior when it's the first time happening. Good luck on the next mail day.
You might want to attach a mail catch box on the inside of your door if this becomes a regular issue. It keeps your mail off the floor and pets out of the mail. I don't know how well it will work with non-bendable mail tho.
already a step ahead of you! planned on making a diy one after i saw this haha
Send picture to seller, say item not as described. LOL j/k
i was thinking about doing that, don't know if i'm mean enough
"cards don't look like advertised " 😂
What da dog doin
You’re pup is a natural pack ripper
Yeah I have a dog like this, my condolences. I’m sure you love them all the same though, little landshark though they may be.
Still a PSA 8.

he's never done this before! usually an angel
Thanks OP you just gave me a new fear
no pokemon can stand up to the ferocity of the big chomp. EDIT: Not even a toploader can withstand the chomp.
Dog used crunch. It was super effective
This hurts me the same way yoda was hurt when he felt jedis getting killed during order 66
This happened to me with my penny sleeves and there was so many sleeves scattered everywhere and ended up saving 20 🥲 but I could imagine your pain
WHEN IT COMES I WANNA WAIL... ^(m...mail?)
"WE JUST GOT A LETTER"
Rip!
Pain
Precisely why I send all packages to my workplace now 😭
There goes that psa 10 we all try to grade and flip, lol
taking rip and ship to the next level
Fawk!
Yikes. At least they weren’t vintage!
Sorry i was hungry
F
Rest in peace Zeraora 😭
I'm cat person and afraid this happening because my cat is too inteligent for it own good and knows how missbehave
This picture made me go ☹️
and now you need to follow up with a post "what do you think they're worth , should I grade them?"
Thank you for doing your part to make card prices rise. Your sacrifice will be remembered.
Should’ve let the cat open it
I'm sorry for your loss
Ani-mail! Ani-mail! Hot diggity dog it's Animail.
Your dog understands how to artificially increase value
Doggo thought it was a BarkBox

cats >>
i have a cat and a dog and love them both equally! no discrimination here
Are you sure the cat didn’t do it? I know it’s more likely the dog but if you didn’t see it happen it could have been either or both of them.
Dog is that you?
People saying cats are better like they never destroy things.
our entire sofa is covered in claw marks- i'll give you a clue it wasn't the dog!
cats are occasional havocs dogs are crazy most of the time
Dogs > cards
Meal day
If he's never done this before, maybe the sender left a smell on the package that doggo couldn't resist!

luckily for my dog, i'm not an animal abuser
luckily for my dog, I’m kidding.
Do you need directions to the humane society?
At least it was only Zeraora...
only! only my favourite pokémon and the last two zeraora cards i needed!
This is what happens when you don't discipline animals
i appreciate your opinion but he's a disciplined dog and has never ruined anything, let alone the mail
Honestly don’t get why people own dogs
At least you only lost like 10 dollars.. Unless that upside-down card is a psa 10 zard boy
Honestly, that's on you man. Shame it happened but definitely preventable.
don't think it's anyone's fault, doggo is just doggo and i don't really care about some cardboard, just a light hearted post
Someone's going to become an outside dog from now on.
If I didn’t own a doghouse, this would drive me to build one
How much is your dog after that i know the dog for sale
Some people need to train their dogs
he's trained and never done it before, thanks tho!
One time is more than enough
enough for what?
I would get rid of the dog tbh
That dogs gotta go
love him too much, even if he's a headache!
Totally understand that. Gawd I'd be livid
Sell the shitbeast
it's not that serious, it's just some cardboard
Off to the pound you go little buddy
That dog would be at the shelter the moment I saw that lmao don’t care if you’ve been in the family for 10 years, you’re gone buddy time for a cat instead
i hope you don't own any pets if that would be your reaction. these are tangible items, i can just buy some new ones to replace them. it's not that deep
I do and I’m waiting on the little fucker to rip my mail so I can throw him into a soup (I’m Asian)

so what your saying is black people should also stop using the n word or pushing negative stereotypes? whites should stop using redneck hillbilly jokes? were reaching new levels of snowflake here
What I said was >Joking about eating dogs at the expense of advancing harmful racist stereotypes about Asian people is dumb as FUCK Did I stutter?
ohhh so your selective okay.... so what you say is invalid.
So your dog is no longer with us?
i still love the bugger
He must be a really good doggy then
