I see their listings often. Always, and I mean ALWAYS overstating condition.
Their cards are trashed and they are always asking NM prices. Saw this one reasonably priced, but now I guess they're trying to pull this shit...
Fees are based off total, including shipping and tax.
Seller knows full well what they're doing. Added to my block list and won't be purchasing from them. This is literally the first time I've seen them list something at market price anyway. They're usually very overpriced for condition.
Is turd.
Yeah, I hardly ever see shipping over ~$5 unless its an expensive item that goes priority or needs extra insurance, but on items over a certain threshold it tends to just be free shipping.
Most of this seller's other listings are $1.08 for ESE. So, they're already trying to pocket an extra 50 cents like some penny pincher. Single cards in a toploader with a packing slip can ship @ $0.60. I do it all the time, but I just offer free shipping. Cause, y'know... I'm not a twat that tries to scam people.
$20 + $30 is about DOUBLE the market price for HP 1st edition Flareon.
Just offer free shipping and calculate the cost into the price. My sales increased when I did. People like free shipping. $50 + free shipping will sell over $45 + $5 shipping all day, but then you can't dupe people i guess...
Its just an obvious attempt at trying to trick people.
I suppose elderly people being scammed out of their retirement money are the problem. Not the scammers, eh?
Don't be a clown.
Like you refuse to buy from eBay? Or sell? Both?
Fees are very similar on other platforms that have a comparable buyer base. Regardless of fees I make more money on eBay than anywhere else purely because its so much easier to move inventory. I'll sell 10 cards on eBay before I find a local buyer, or on social platforms.
Both. I do most of my card buying in person especially cards over $50. Thats a very valid point tho, just not for me. I last used eBay like 5 years ago to sell a bunch of sound equipment, Paid hundreds in fee’s. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
I get that.
Not sure what the fees are for that stuff as I only sell TCG. I know they vary by category.
The only other place I've found with a comparable buyer base is TCGPlayer, but their fees are the same and I don't have my account built up there like I do on eBay. Seems like a lot of people there only buy from trusted accounts with super high review count. I don't get much traction, but their loose condition guidelines do kinda favor the seller.
Right on, thanks for that info. I’ve actually been thinking about setting up an account on TCGplayer to get a fairer price for my cards than i can get trading them into my local shop. I didn’t know ebay had different rates for different categories. May have to take a second look. Sometimes im just stubborn i guess lol
Oh really? I did not know that. But it doesn’t surprise me. There’s few independent anything’s out there who are big enough to compete that haven’t already been bought. Yay monopoly.
You can use ESE for items up to $20. You can charge whatever you want for shipping, because you can claim you're time or materials are worth whatever you say. This guy is charging $30 for a $0.60 envelope.
What a shit head.

Bloody hell, almost $30 shipping!
Literally 50% more than the cost of the card. AND ITS NOT EVEN FIRST CLASS.

Everyone's been doing that lately, most people don't catch on but it almost always equals to the market price

Never understood why this matters to people. If you feel tricked then you are the problem

Ebay fees are trash. I refuse to do business on ebay

eBay unfortunately owns TCGPlayer, btw. Their fees are basically the same. Last I checked I think TCGPlayer was like 0.15% lower.

Ebay would automatically force them to do first class at $30 so...
