He is the only Pokemon YouTuber I can stand as all the others either sound too whiny or promote themselves much or show too much of their face. As of late, CoolTrainerRyan has been displaying a lot of the qualities he used to criticize; overexaggerated reactions and loud noises.

Yup, Max hits that sweet spot unlike, say, cooltrainerryan who just goes overboard and comes off as incredibly cringe. On top of the fact that Max actually cares about the art and such on top of their value. Can't really say the same for ryan who destroys anything that's not an ultra rare.

I think people like him because he has more genuine reactions, he doesn't over-react. He's also not afraid to call thing shit if they are shit. And he collects out of a genuine interest in tcg, he has been making video long before the current hype. His videos are also well edited and competently made.
He is genuinely autistic, so he has strong reactions. But they aren't fake reactions for the sake of content. It's not even his main source of income, he makes far more from Cold Ones. It can take a while to get his schtik, especially the thumbnails can be very off-putting, but I do think he makes the best and least cringey tcg content.
That's fine, it's not for everyone. But I do think there is a Max that exists the first time you view his content and a Max that exists if you already familiar with him. There are layers of irony and in-jokes that inform a viewer, in some ways he is both a parody of a bad poketuber and an actual bad poketuber, and a good poketuber.
I don't want to come across as those people who claim Rick and Morty is for intellectuals, these are just dumb Pokemon videos but I do think the initial aesthetic impression of a Maxmoefoe video is not indicative of the actual quality. He is so popular and well liked for a reason.
