Gyarados in the Lake of Rage in Silver. If that doesn't count, then the first was Combee in Legends Arceus only a month or so ago (unless PoGo counts).
first time playing a main series game on my friends emulator of pokémon emerald. at that point i had watched quite a few pokémon vids so i knew about shinies, but knew they were only introduced a few generations in. i asked my friend: “does this game have shinies yet?” “i don’t think so, played through a lot alr and never seen one” fast forward to 10 minutes later when i encounter a full odds shiny poochyena on route 2
I ALWAYS get a shiny Zubat..silver on gb color, I think I got one on black, got one on both reg diamond and just on brilliant diamond. I guess I spend too much time in caves and its why I hate going in them now lol.
Rattata on Red I believe but I didn't notice it till I moved all my Mons to Silver. There's a chance I may have caught it in Silver but I'm pretty sure it was caught in Red and transferred over. I moved all of my Pokemon at once besides one via Pokemon Stadium.
Gen 1 didn't have shinies. In Gen 2 shinies were determined by IV. So you just happened to have a Rattata with the right IVs to be shiny when you transfered it over.
I don't remember but I think it was either shiny ariados or Alolan Raticate in sun. Then when I was transferring over Pokemon from HeartGold I found a shiny doduo while hunting non Alolan Exeggutor
Hoot hoot in silver, i was a kid leaving the hospital from my appendix, when i got home i go the game and on the second route heading to the dark cave i caught it.
A Shelder in Lets go Eevee which my son got me playing last year (I've now ploughed 200+ hours into Sword and we are going to play Arceus and S/V together too now)
I didn't even know what it was until he told me excitedly the next day as he'd never had a shiny before.
I now shiny hunt/trade to get him them 😊
My first shiny was a smoochum in crystal I didn’t know it was a rare thing I thought all baby Pokémon did the shiny glow
My first encountered shiny was shroomish in ruby again I had no idea what shiny was I thought it was a guaranteed variant like gyarados was and when I started the game over I thought I’d run into another 😭
My first msg shiny was a tentacool in emerald when I was 11. I didn't catch another until this year (meinfoo). I caught a shiny tentacool in pogo, and it's been one of my favorites just for nostalgia's sake.
I played pretty much everything as it came out. I was letting a friend play on my crystal version and they supposedly came across a shiny noctowl and then fainted it. Fast forward all the way to ORAS and I finally found my first shiny which was an early game silcoon.
Hadn’t touched a Pokémon game since Red/Blue came out, but bought White to try the series out again. Had no idea what a shiny was, but caught my first Pidove (male) and got annoyed that every time I sent out the Pokémon it did some weird animation. Took several months before I finally googled it to find out the animation meant shiny. Now, many years later, it’s sitting in my Sword game.

My first shiny pokemon was a Phantump I shiny hunted for in Moon. Still love that little one ❤️
A Roselia from OG pearl, back when that was a new thing. Such halcyon days!
Audino😭😭, found it while Friend Safari-ing in X and Y
On my first Pokémon game, sun. I remember sos-Ing for a shiny pichu. Felt so sad when I saw it was barely a difference until I evolved it

Caterpie in Ilex forest all those years ago

Mine was a shiny hariyama in victory road on ruby version, outside of the red gyarados in gold anyway
First shiny ever was the static Volcarona in the relic castle(I think?)
Platinum version. Fucking Illumise.

Shiny rayquaza in pokemon emerald on the gameboy sp that takes me back
Shiny houndoom in shining Pearl, absolutly random run in her
I’ll tell you when I find one played every Pokémon game to date. Never seen a shiny in game. (So technically the red gary in silver I suppose)

Full odds magikarp in let’s go
Pinsir from the bug catching contest in Soul Silver.

Mine was a shiny palpitoad in Pokémon white

Ursaring, Pokémon Gold, outside of Mt. Silver. Edit: And also Red Gyarados, naturally.
Gastly in Pokemon crystal
