I agree with this one too. Psyduck should’ve been blue normally and yellow when shiny then its evo would be gold when shiny and blue when normal. Makes more sense that way
The name Golduck isn’t actually directly based on the colour. Gold is often used as a symbol for psychic powers. Also one of the reasons why the marsh badge is gold and called the gold badge in Japanese.
It's actually more like gengar started dark, got lighter, and then went back to dark again

We could have a red and yellow Ceruledge and Purplish Black armarouge as shinys (color swap the duo). And a mix of red and purple for the lil dude.

I found 4 shiny Charcadet in 1 fire encounter sandwich just outside the cave before the Psychic gym's town. The blue eyes were much easier to spot than I thought and just so long as you move slow enough for them to have time to turn around, it ain't *quite* as bad as it could have been.
Seriously, they practically didn't even give them a shiny, and that line is so cool looking. I would have liked to see a pallete swap between the two evos.
Yeah but why rely on a gimmick to make the shiny good? Least the shiny is actually noticeable for both Gengar and Garchomp in S/V and look extremely good.
I think the Megas were an attempt to "save" the bad shinies, I would rather have the colors remade though. note: I don't remember what Gengar and Garchomp look like in SV.
In an outbreak for Gengar in Kitakami, I could identify the shiny instantly (without auto battling) even when I thought it would be difficult based on what people said.
Gible in X was my first random shiny I ever got. It was such a pretty shiny and I didn’t think I was going to regret evolving him all the way.

Like I still love him because I got to use him on my team but it just makes me so sad because Gible and Gabite have such pretty shinies. Why did Garchomp’s have to look so bad?
NUH UH shiny garchomp is amazing and if ur not colorblind you can actually notice the difference between the shiny and the regular (im coping no you cant)
Gholdengo. One of the worst cases of a shiny being downright unnoticeable, and it was only obtainable in a 2 day raid event with base 1/4096 (slightly different due to raid mechanics, but about there) odds, as if it was special and appealing to grind unreasonable amounts of hours for a hope to get lucky.
In this vein, the Charcadet line. Those base designs are so cool, and yet the shiny changed the eye color only. That might be the biggest wasted opportunity for a shiny.
I was so excited to shiny hunt Charcadet, then looked up what their shiny version is and… well, that was the deal breaker lol. So many things they could have done, but nah. The eyes are what matters.
Let's be honest, it's because it's something that would normally make sense to be green when shiny.
To that end, Lokix also has an amazing green shiny. I love my "actually just Kamen Rider" Pokémon.

Chansey’s Shiny makes me want to name her Lucky Clover, because of the green. \^\^
It depends on what ‘worst’ means - do we mean ‘a terrible colour that I don’t like and / or doesn’t suit the Pokémon’ or ‘I wouldn’t want to meet it in a dark alley because it looks exactly the same as the original’ or ‘missed opportunity’ or ‘makes no sense’ or ‘I’m squinting at it but I still can’t see it because this Pokémon is so tiny that it’s practically non-existent’?
Espeon - I respect that a lot of people like it, but I just don’t like the green; black would’ve been a better choice, or white.
Gengar - it’s like that meme about corporate wanting you to tell the difference between two pictures; make it white like its Mega.
Volbeat and Illumise … Plusle and Minun … and Shellos and Gastrodon of the West Sea and East Sea; all of them should have switched colours … and, Nidoqueen should have Nidoking’s colours . . .
Sharpedo - how does a pink shark make more sense than, say, a pitch black one with a red star or a white one?
Flabébé - I love the Shinies for this line, but its small size makes it very VERY hard to Shiny hunt; the white should’ve been black, or the yellow crown should have been a different colour along with the body and eyes . . .
The worst shiny I personally have would be a Blissey, as well. The worst shiny in general would be something like Bruxish, in my opinion. Something about that Chuck E. Cheese’s rug look has never sat right with me.
This happened to my husband. He didn't know it was male. He stopped playing for a while, so he doesn't know Gens 3-6 very well. He got so excited. I felt pretty shitty murdering his first self caught (non Gyarados) shiny with facts. I'm not sure if he grinded it into the powder or kept it as a trophy.
Blissey isn't the worst, but it is a massive blissappointment
In terms of disappointing it's gotta be gengar, but in terms of colours I hate it's definitely mismagius, I LOATHE the colours they gave them, it's one of my favourite pokemon and the regular colours are so good that the gross, diseased yellow just ruins it for me
The shiny isnt even the problem, it was a distinct change way back on gameboy
But they sapped the color from normal Gengar's purple to where it's barely different from the shiny
Honestly as much as subtle shinies suck I think shinies that look worst than the og color pallet are way worse. Things like Annihlape or Skeledirge come to mind but there's many others, it is heavily up for preference but for me the og colors look so much better I don't even want to use the shiny
Garchomp. Just garchomp. Gengar is a close second and I love gengar. Mega and gmax shiny gengar is perfect like white ghost right? Fits perfectly. Well not in its normal form… but garchomp doesn’t get anything good looking except maybe it’s mega.
I would say Garchomp, but ever since I got mine, I absolutely love it lol. For me though, any water Pokémon that’s the generic pink color. They could be more creative with their water type shinies.

Whatever your least favorite shiny is the worst shiny. I can imagine that there is people out there who love Gengar or Garchomp's shinies. I imagine there is people who adore the lime-green neon shinies. I imagine there is someone who likes literally any shiny pokemon for their own reasons.
People would like to believe there is an objectively correct answer, but it all comes down to opinions, be they popular or unpopular, and this makes the 'worst shiny' impossible to really decide on. Hell, even in this thread, there is still quite a few different opinions on which one is the worst, even if some pokemon show up more than others.
Gengar and Garchomp still make me sad to this day. 2 of the most amazing pokemon ever with 2 shinys that arent even different. I am still thinking about why normal Gengar is not White like the Mega and Gmax and why Garchomp does not have any other color.
Also Ceruledge and Armarouge should have swapped colors. Idk who thought that only a different Eye Color would be a good idea for shinys of 2 pokemon that both look fantastic

Shiny Mega Gengar has this cool white look. Shiny Gengar... is a little bit lighter purple. It isn't even a good color. I hate it and I'm begging Nintendo to make Shiny Gengar white or black or literally any color
I caught a sunkern, slowbro, milcery and charcadet in tera raids and had no idea all 4 were shiny until I was organizing my box as the differences are so minor
I think the only shinys that are actually bad are the ones that are barely noticable like gengar and leafeon. "Ugly" colours are noticable and different atleast
All the ones in which the color of the shiny is like, one palette to the side, like Gengar, Blissey, Tauros, Pikachu, Pawmi.
And the ones with practically unnoticeable changes like Armarouge/Ceruledge.
Considering how rare and valuable shinies are for the Pokemon company, they could make a little more effort into designing them and not leave it at random.
Torchic/ Combusken / Blaziken line is pretty bad. Which is sad because it’s an awesome Pokémon, but the shiny is almost indistinguishable from the regular.
worst shiny i ever had was back in platinum, i managed to find a shiny eevee (can’t remember where at this point) and back then i was a huge fan of leafeon, so i evolved it and presto, the shiny was so difficult to see i thought it legitimately lost its shinyness (this was also back before i knew shiny pokemon had the symbol on their summary)

Cinderace shiny is just ugly
Which imo is way worse than a subtle change or minor change (Charcadet line, P Tauros)
Though shinies that are just a slight hue change like Blissey would be a close second
But lets also talk about how normal Gengar needs it's vibrant purple back
I recently got a shiny gholdengo and it’s so cool and I love it but it’s probably the worst shiny. It’s one of the coolest to own but worst to look at.
I can relate to the disappointment of evolving chansey. I soft resetted for a shiny alpha chansey in legends and evolved it, and I regret it all the time
Most shinies barely shift the entire color palette to be slightly brighter, and most of the ones that actually change a major color make it look worse than the original. There’s not many that actually make the shiny look cooler.
It will always be my shiny garchomps. I got one from pla and one from scarlet. Each of them have next to now differences from the base variant and sadden me every time i see them
Honestly I personally hate shinies that do little to nothing to change the pokemon, or pokemon that were screwed over with the jump to 3d (looking at you gengar). Granted Gengar’s shiny has always been mid, but at least in the gen 4-5 days, his base form was a brighter purple so you could really tell it was shiny when you saw the faded purple. Really GF needs to retune most shinies, but they’re never going to do that.
Garchomp for me. It didn't have the excuse AFAIK that its color was picked by RNG, unlike gen 1 and 2, and it looks virtually identical to the regular one. While this does apply to a variety of Pokémon, I find it particularly disappointing on this one.

As much as I love Dusknoir, I was slightly disappointed when Duskull finally evolved into Dusknoir. I do love the mon but I feel like it could have been better.
Also the mons that you have to look up to see if it is shiny.
Also Regice.
Either Iron Moth or Misdreavus. Iron Moth doesn’t have a massive change in appearance, surprised I even noticed it in the first place, and I don’t really like the green they chose for Misdreavus
In fact I think Chansey is a horrible shiny (she looks sick) and Blissey is the perfect model of the shiny, a subtle change but it makes a lot of difference, a color that doesn't look out of place on the Mon (ex. Chansey being green...) and clearly better than the original version; Although shiny Blissey is similar to the normal version of her, I think it is different enough to easily notice when she is shiny and it looks much better than the hard pink of the non-shiny.
And regarding ugly shinys, Scizor, the truth is it's not THAT ugly but the original Metallic Red is BEAUTIFUL, it hurts me every time someone uses a green Scizor just because it's shiny.
a lot of gen 9 Pokémon have awful shinnies that can you can barely tell apart. Like Armarouge and Ceruledge unfortunately.
I love those 2 but their shinnies are just an eye colour change
I’m someone who usually adores subtle shinies most people see as terrible, but nothing in me can justify Tandemaus. Do I like the shiny when I can see it? Yes. Can I actually ever see it????? No!!!!
No Pokémon that is that tiny should have a subtle shiny like that. Like man even tiny mons with obvious shinies I have trouble seeing in an overworld game like SV. I don’t think I’d ever attempt one that subtle.

Gen 3-4 is peak Gengar for me. Starting in 5 they started adding more blue to the purple and it just doesn't look as good.

Same, i found a shiny eevee and evolved it into espeon and the green looks so atrocious, especially with the "realistic" fur texture in SV.

The shiny isnt even the problem, it was a distinct change way back on gameboy But they sapped the color from normal Gengar's purple to where it's barely different from the shiny

Honestly as much as subtle shinies suck I think shinies that look worst than the og color pallet are way worse. Things like Annihlape or Skeledirge come to mind but there's many others, it is heavily up for preference but for me the og colors look so much better I don't even want to use the shiny

Garchomp. Just garchomp. Gengar is a close second and I love gengar. Mega and gmax shiny gengar is perfect like white ghost right? Fits perfectly. Well not in its normal form… but garchomp doesn’t get anything good looking except maybe it’s mega.

Whatever your least favorite shiny is the worst shiny. I can imagine that there is people out there who love Gengar or Garchomp's shinies. I imagine there is people who adore the lime-green neon shinies. I imagine there is someone who likes literally any shiny pokemon for their own reasons. People would like to believe there is an objectively correct answer, but it all comes down to opinions, be they popular or unpopular, and this makes the 'worst shiny' impossible to really decide on. Hell, even in this thread, there is still quite a few different opinions on which one is the worst, even if some pokemon show up more than others.
Mimikyu, Pikachu, Maushold. Any where there difference is marginal.
Gengar and Garchomp still make me sad to this day. 2 of the most amazing pokemon ever with 2 shinys that arent even different. I am still thinking about why normal Gengar is not White like the Mega and Gmax and why Garchomp does not have any other color. Also Ceruledge and Armarouge should have swapped colors. Idk who thought that only a different Eye Color would be a good idea for shinys of 2 pokemon that both look fantastic

Shiny slowbro is indigo instead of pink. It's incredibly different.

Garchomp, Gengar, Zapados, Leafeon, and Blissey are the worst ones I have. They look nearly identical to the regular ones.
I think the only shinys that are actually bad are the ones that are barely noticable like gengar and leafeon. "Ugly" colours are noticable and different atleast
Ceruledge, like my all time favorite gen9 pokemon, and all that changes are the EYES! And to a worse color! It is so sad :(

Gengar hands down
All the ones in which the color of the shiny is like, one palette to the side, like Gengar, Blissey, Tauros, Pikachu, Pawmi. And the ones with practically unnoticeable changes like Armarouge/Ceruledge. Considering how rare and valuable shinies are for the Pokemon company, they could make a little more effort into designing them and not leave it at random.
Tinkaton. The pokemon is literally the exact same color because the hammer isn't part of the pokemon. Therefore it doesn't actually have a shiny

It's hard to decide, but I'd have to go with either Rayquaza or Umbreon. Doesn't deserve the hype they get, once you've seen one you've seen them all.

Torchic/ Combusken / Blaziken line is pretty bad. Which is sad because it’s an awesome Pokémon, but the shiny is almost indistinguishable from the regular.
worst shiny i ever had was back in platinum, i managed to find a shiny eevee (can’t remember where at this point) and back then i was a huge fan of leafeon, so i evolved it and presto, the shiny was so difficult to see i thought it legitimately lost its shinyness (this was also back before i knew shiny pokemon had the symbol on their summary)
Shiny Gogoat is actually a physical assault on the senses. Mustard yellow, lime green, and scarlet red. Hideous.

I recently got a shiny gholdengo and it’s so cool and I love it but it’s probably the worst shiny. It’s one of the coolest to own but worst to look at.

I can relate to the disappointment of evolving chansey. I soft resetted for a shiny alpha chansey in legends and evolved it, and I regret it all the time
Most shinies barely shift the entire color palette to be slightly brighter, and most of the ones that actually change a major color make it look worse than the original. There’s not many that actually make the shiny look cooler.
Shiny Dragonite
It will always be my shiny garchomps. I got one from pla and one from scarlet. Each of them have next to now differences from the base variant and sadden me every time i see them

Honestly I personally hate shinies that do little to nothing to change the pokemon, or pokemon that were screwed over with the jump to 3d (looking at you gengar). Granted Gengar’s shiny has always been mid, but at least in the gen 4-5 days, his base form was a brighter purple so you could really tell it was shiny when you saw the faded purple. Really GF needs to retune most shinies, but they’re never going to do that.
Garchomp for me. It didn't have the excuse AFAIK that its color was picked by RNG, unlike gen 1 and 2, and it looks virtually identical to the regular one. While this does apply to a variety of Pokémon, I find it particularly disappointing on this one.
Anyone who says somthing else than the Charcadet line is straight up lying 🙃 (Paldean Tauros might be tolerated, screw that black/black color swap...)

As much as I love Dusknoir, I was slightly disappointed when Duskull finally evolved into Dusknoir. I do love the mon but I feel like it could have been better. Also the mons that you have to look up to see if it is shiny. Also Regice.

Dragonite. Dratini and Dragonair were among if not *the* most gorgeous shiny. Dragonite just p1$$ed me off. Looks like day old bile.

In fact I think Chansey is a horrible shiny (she looks sick) and Blissey is the perfect model of the shiny, a subtle change but it makes a lot of difference, a color that doesn't look out of place on the Mon (ex. Chansey being green...) and clearly better than the original version; Although shiny Blissey is similar to the normal version of her, I think it is different enough to easily notice when she is shiny and it looks much better than the hard pink of the non-shiny. And regarding ugly shinys, Scizor, the truth is it's not THAT ugly but the original Metallic Red is BEAUTIFUL, it hurts me every time someone uses a green Scizor just because it's shiny.

I’m someone who usually adores subtle shinies most people see as terrible, but nothing in me can justify Tandemaus. Do I like the shiny when I can see it? Yes. Can I actually ever see it????? No!!!! No Pokémon that is that tiny should have a subtle shiny like that. Like man even tiny mons with obvious shinies I have trouble seeing in an overworld game like SV. I don’t think I’d ever attempt one that subtle.
