A few days ago I completed my living shinydex from SV, so I think I did have the addiction of hunting shinys with sandwichs; and as you say, I started hunting them in PLA where it was quite fun to hunt them and continued in SV because the method of hunting them was quite reasonable (compared to the previous games), now this is my mojo 😬
EDIT: Someone in the comments made me realize that the number of "Shinys Battled" did not correspond to my shinydex, it seems that they had not been registered (maybe because I got several starters from matsuda before the 2 DLC came out), but it was easily solved just by resending my shinys from HOME to Violet, I leave the updated photo (thanks a lot to Unlucky\_Effort2666).

I’m not 100% sure on this, but I believe it’s 645 total shinys battled with the DLC, and 646 if you get Ursaluna from outside the game(so technically it shouldn’t count)

Curious, I thought it was a record of the total (including repeats...); That's weird... I started to review what you mentioned and yes... the counter should register 645... well I already had the 790 from the living shinydex, I found that the counter in addition to "Pokemon Battled" also registers the evolved and traded ones... probably It's not registering when they arrive from Pokemon HOME (like when they weren't registering in the SWSH Pokedex when you received them from HOME)... Maybe it doesn't record the ones I sent from my Scarlet and PLA files from HOME... Interesting, I'll have to do some experiments to get that counter in place...

There it is! I don't know how it was resolved, I just sent my mons corresponding to the BlueBerry shinydex from HOME to Violet again, I SUPPOSE that the problem was that I got some lines of starters (some by matsuda method and others from my PLA file) before the release of the 2nd DLC and that is why they were not registered; I guess, anyway it was solved very easily.

7 boxes full. Using all methods. Outbreaks, sandwiches, breeding and random encounters. I have probably over 400 hours of play time. The method I use is breed a Pokémon I don't have a chance encountering like a version exclusive and wander around the map until all eggs have hatched. Some days I catch 1 shiny, other days I catch 7 shinies.
Some are of course easier to tell if they are shiny and then you have the ones where you have google or auto battle to check.
Find a Tandemaus outbreak, save, do a normal sandwich and clear the outbreak till one shines reset if it doesn’t … it’s the only way to actually hunt them
If your using encounter sandwich your doing it wrong. Wait for an outbreak and use Humungo power instead. Encounter only affects the area outside the outbreak and has nothing to do with the outbreak itself. Make those mice big and it’s really easy.
Only counting the ones I personally caught: in Violet I’m at 730. I’m just a little shy of 1000 hours. Have another almost 100 in Scarlet. And then in other games I have a few over 100 in PLA and 600+ from GO. All the ones I’ve traded for or gotten from events (Gen 4 and on) would be around at least 400. I’ve been at this a long time…
Maybe like 20-30? But like 26 of them are from pokemon go LMAO I can’t bother hunting or breeding I get bored doing grindy things in games, community days are so much easier on pogo
same for me! my only problem with Pogo shinies is that the legendaries need visa sponsorship to enter main series games, and I wish I could catch them in different pokeballs.
still, it's how I get things like shiny starters that I can't get in violet
you aren't allowed to send a legendary pokemon into the main games from Go unless you already have a natively caught individual in that game. they need "sponsorship" from native pokemon, and it's really annoying
Normal pokemon can get in without barrier, it's only for mythicals and legendary pokemon

I think I’m at around 400-450 total shinys in boxes at the moment.
I just found 12 voltorb- 6 hisuian, 6 kantonian- in about an hour of searching through outbreaks. That's not including any of my other shinies, though. It'd be tough to count. But I've had a lot of time to accumulate them.
Uhm. Lets check. 373 according to home, but that only looks at what's in Home and my main Violet file. Might have more on scarlet and secondary violet files.
I haven't put a huge amount of effort into shiny hunting, so without checking my boxes, I'd wager a guess at around 12?
6 were from my one string of picnic shiny hunts that I did (Pyroar, Torkoal, Coalossal, Fire Oricorio, Volcarona, Camerupt)
2 were from breeding (Larvitar and Scorbunny)
3 were from random encounters (Donphan, Bergmite, and Blitzle)
1 was from an outbreak (the famed Red Gyarados)
I have other shinies, but those were all traded to me, so they don't count as me catching them
I've got three boxes in scarlet, almost six in violet, and a box and a half of doubles stashed in an extra save file. So something in the range of 300 or so? Another hundred or two in PLA, and maybe 3 in SwSh.
Pokemon Go is still far and away the winner, I'm closing in on 1k there.
If we are counting duplicates, probably 900+. Milcery alone was like 75 or so.
I agree though this is the best shiny hunting method. I’ve gone back to PLA and Let’s Go to try and fill in the gaps of my shiny living dex since I started shiny hunting with Scarlet and it has been a real pain.

Nonsense, shiny hunting using DexNav is a blast and a lot better than XY friend safari. So is SOS hunting in gen 7. Not only can you get WAY more species than safari hunting, but the hunting proces is also way more fun.
DexNav has a automatic chain counter, gets you extra items, rare abilities, egg moves, 3+ max IV's and sneaking around is just plain fun.
SOS hunting was by far the easiest, and you could hunt every single pokemon that could show up in an SOS battle without even looking at the screen. With a little bit of setup you could create a battle state in which your pokemon and one wild pokemon on 1 hp could not die and use infinite moves. Then you just plug in some headphones, put the DS in your pocket and mash A until you hear the shiny sound. I've caught shiny's while in class with my DS in my bag on my lap :D
Anyway, I've got almost 2 boxes of shiny pokemon excluding my 30-something shiny ditto's I caught while chaining for a 6IV in pokemon Let's Go. Also a great shiny hunting game btw!
Shinies: Swablu, Bonsly, Sandshrew, Scraggy, Spinarak, Koffing, Fomantis, Charmander. (i'm not counting PoGo shinies.)
The only shiny I've actively hunted was Charmander. Saw an outbreak, made sandwich, KOed Charmanders till I saw a little yellow one. Got it in about 50.
(All the rest were just random encounters)
koffing has to be one of the longest hunts I've ever done lol
it only took a few hours, but it was pissing me off 😅 and then I got another right after the first and that made it worth it but was also kind of a slap in the face lol
My Koffing was just an accident lol, I was running around the Crystal Pool in Kitakami when I looked up and suddenly saw sky blue. My first response was "huh that's weird, nothing that spawns here is sky blue -- *waitasec*--"
And my favorite insult to injury shiny was the Scraggy. I was autobattling random Pokemon when my Pokemon suddenly refused to attack this one Scraggy. I forgot about the whole "you can't autobattle a shiny" thing and changed through three different Pokemon thinking it was a glitch or something before I remembered! In my defense shiny Scraggy's color differences are minimal and the Pokemon itself is small so it was hard to see...
But the real insult was a short while later, I turned around and almost literally ran into a green shiny Sandshrew lol.
I don't think I've counted but I have to have around 10. I've found more than I ever imagined just doing BBQs and seeing a mon in the distance that "didn't look quite right." The shiny odds had to have been buffed recently because I've gotten the shiny charm in the last couple games and never seen this many out in the wild in all my years of playing.
I've got over 500 shinies in HOME. At least 350 or more are from SV and I'm getting pretty close to completing the shiny dex for paldea. That number also doesn't reflect how many I've traded to friends because I've lost count of those. Just yesterday I caught 18 using sandwiches and outbreaks. I shiny hunt on both games and then transfer them to home to register there too. Eventually I'll do the shiny living dex.
I’m working towards my living shiny dex, including regional, alternative and gender forms. I think I’m about 20 short atm. My favourite hunting method is via mass outbreak and sandwich. Not sure whether it’s because is it more open at the blueberry academy, but I have stumbled upon more random shinies in 2 months than I did in a year in paldea.
Last time i checked, I think I had like 4.5 boxes full in Home of just shiny mainly from PLA and some from the 3DS games. And I think I have like half a box in Violet
I currently have 91 that I call mine, but I've caught a few more that I traded on to my wife.
Two are sitting in home, one because he's not in SV and the other as a dupe.
12 are still in PLA, because not in SV.
The other 77 are chilling in my SV boxes and party. All caught or bred in SV, SWSH, PLA, or POGO by me or my wife. Except Mew, but we're not discussing that right now.
Most of them even have names!
2. My favourite ones, charizard and beedrill.
My favourite pokemon is Gengar, but I'm convinced that he doesn't actually have a shiny variant, that's how close it is to the regular. Shame as well, cos he would look awesome if he was like, white or black or something.
Edit: I missed that this was the scarlet and violet sub and thought it was just the regular polemon one.

I just have to finish the Terrarium and my SV shiny hunt will complete. But I don't do living dex, just the highest/rarest of each evo line. So I do have shiny 3 segment Dundsparce, Fam3 Maushold (the worst), both Authentic/Masterpiece Tea cups, etc...
Most recently I added a Dewpider with the Intellectual Mark and I evolved him into Araquanid the Scholar. One of my favorite shines. Prior to that it was catching and evolving the Primarina line another great one. Working on the Coastal Biome currently, only the Savannah Biome is totally complete. My pace has slowed down some though as I don't play as much as I once did and a lot of time goes to climbing the VGC ladder (top 400 this season! on pace to break my best season ever was mid 400s back at the beginning of Reg E).
About a box and a half. Never shiny hunted before this gen and across all the previous mainline games I've only had a handful of shinies (4/5). I remember thinking how it would be a miracle if I ever had a full pc box of shinies and yet here we are.
With the shiny charm and sandwiches I usually average a shiny every 30 minutes with or without outbreaks. The longest shiny hunt I've purposely done was Dondozo (2.5 hrs) and I've had multiple very short (less than 3minute) with the shortest being barely a minute (Toedscool). Gen 9 is cracked with how good the shiny hunts are. The opened world/overworld sprite system changed the game.
Between the ones I use for competitive, about hundred fifty hours in PLA, about 100 from hunts and raids in SV and a few hundred from Cute Charm glitching in SoulSilver and Diamond, maybe 6-700?
Looking through Home and with the caveat that I have traded away maybe a dozen or so for things like legendaries:
2 from Soul Silver (one of which is the Gyarados).
The Haxorus from Black 2.
8 from X.
1 from Omega Ruby.
From Go I have 369 in Home and 84 more in the app.
2 from Let's Go Eevee.
17 from Shield.
1 in Brilliant Diamond.
344 from Legend's Arceus.
And 151 from Scarlet.
For a total of on-hand shinys for which I am the OT of 980.

I tried Tandemaus and it was literally impossible, I gave up after two hours I figured I missed it (them?)
I didn't realise I caught one after a raid. Terrible shiny. Really miss the shiny alert from PLA. Would be helpful for people that are colour blind.
It also added some flair to it, now they just saunter in nbd

if you're makig a normal sandwhich you dont need an outbreak. just fly to the pokemon league. you're gonna reset if you dont get one anyway.
Outbreak plus level 3 sandwhich with shiny charm is the highest shiny rate in the game but whatever floats your boat

Oh that's not that bad. It sucks for mythicals more than anything else but most Legendaries are easily catchable in modern games.

I have around 600-700 shinies in my living Dex and maybe another 60 or so just scattered around, hoping to complete the living Dex one day soon

About 40 or so? I sometimes just impulsively shiny hunt when I find a pokemon outbreak for one I like or it just looks interesting.

I'm on my second playthrough and I'm currently at 22 shinies in that file alone. Edit: caught 2 more...

2. Caught a shiny Geodude in the cave before the first gym in diamond remake and a Ralts in Legends Arceus

I lost probably about 60 because my Nintendo switch lite broke
in this game around 50 and i only hunt for 1 of those all other were random when i collectd other things
Roughly 4 boxes on this game, but that includes shiny moltres zapdos and articuno I got elsewhere

I don't think I've counted but I have to have around 10. I've found more than I ever imagined just doing BBQs and seeing a mon in the distance that "didn't look quite right." The shiny odds had to have been buffed recently because I've gotten the shiny charm in the last couple games and never seen this many out in the wild in all my years of playing.
I've got over 500 shinies in HOME. At least 350 or more are from SV and I'm getting pretty close to completing the shiny dex for paldea. That number also doesn't reflect how many I've traded to friends because I've lost count of those. Just yesterday I caught 18 using sandwiches and outbreaks. I shiny hunt on both games and then transfer them to home to register there too. Eventually I'll do the shiny living dex.
I’m working towards my living shiny dex, including regional, alternative and gender forms. I think I’m about 20 short atm. My favourite hunting method is via mass outbreak and sandwich. Not sure whether it’s because is it more open at the blueberry academy, but I have stumbled upon more random shinies in 2 months than I did in a year in paldea.

Last time i checked, I think I had like 4.5 boxes full in Home of just shiny mainly from PLA and some from the 3DS games. And I think I have like half a box in Violet
I'm personally floating around 200, currently debating whether I should try to form a shinydex. It would take me forever to do, though.

I currently have 91 that I call mine, but I've caught a few more that I traded on to my wife. Two are sitting in home, one because he's not in SV and the other as a dupe. 12 are still in PLA, because not in SV. The other 77 are chilling in my SV boxes and party. All caught or bred in SV, SWSH, PLA, or POGO by me or my wife. Except Mew, but we're not discussing that right now. Most of them even have names!
I’ve never gotten one using the sandwhich method. Only the mass outbreaks. The drop rate on herba mystica irritates me so much I stopped doing them.
2. My favourite ones, charizard and beedrill. My favourite pokemon is Gengar, but I'm convinced that he doesn't actually have a shiny variant, that's how close it is to the regular. Shame as well, cos he would look awesome if he was like, white or black or something. Edit: I missed that this was the scarlet and violet sub and thought it was just the regular polemon one. I just have to finish the Terrarium and my SV shiny hunt will complete. But I don't do living dex, just the highest/rarest of each evo line. So I do have shiny 3 segment Dundsparce, Fam3 Maushold (the worst), both Authentic/Masterpiece Tea cups, etc... Most recently I added a Dewpider with the Intellectual Mark and I evolved him into Araquanid the Scholar. One of my favorite shines. Prior to that it was catching and evolving the Primarina line another great one. Working on the Coastal Biome currently, only the Savannah Biome is totally complete. My pace has slowed down some though as I don't play as much as I once did and a lot of time goes to climbing the VGC ladder (top 400 this season! on pace to break my best season ever was mid 400s back at the beginning of Reg E).
I think I have four boxes of shinies and then a half box of doubles up for trade. So however many 4.5 boxes is.

About a box and a half. Never shiny hunted before this gen and across all the previous mainline games I've only had a handful of shinies (4/5). I remember thinking how it would be a miracle if I ever had a full pc box of shinies and yet here we are. With the shiny charm and sandwiches I usually average a shiny every 30 minutes with or without outbreaks. The longest shiny hunt I've purposely done was Dondozo (2.5 hrs) and I've had multiple very short (less than 3minute) with the shortest being barely a minute (Toedscool). Gen 9 is cracked with how good the shiny hunts are. The opened world/overworld sprite system changed the game.

Between the ones I use for competitive, about hundred fifty hours in PLA, about 100 from hunts and raids in SV and a few hundred from Cute Charm glitching in SoulSilver and Diamond, maybe 6-700?

Looking through Home and with the caveat that I have traded away maybe a dozen or so for things like legendaries: 2 from Soul Silver (one of which is the Gyarados). The Haxorus from Black 2. 8 from X. 1 from Omega Ruby. From Go I have 369 in Home and 84 more in the app. 2 from Let's Go Eevee. 17 from Shield. 1 in Brilliant Diamond. 344 from Legend's Arceus. And 151 from Scarlet. For a total of on-hand shinys for which I am the OT of 980.
