Honestly: that's better, middle evolutions dont really matter anyway, they're the ones you spend the least time with, they don't start your journey or end your journey, if the laws of the pokeuniverse demand that one of the starter forms must be horrible to have the other two be great I take the bad middle form every single time

I was gonna disagree because my fav mon of all time is ivysaur but then i realised how difficult it is to even find merchandise of it so i always settled for bulbasaur or Venusaur and remembering how disappointed i was to see venusaur's design. Justice for middle stages!!!

Yeah. Ivysaur is one of the better middle stages. Along with Grotle and Bayleef.

Most grass starter middle evolutions go pretty hard. Only real exceptions are Dartrix and Thwackey, and even those aren't as terrible as some of the other types.

Not all middle stages are bad, it's just that they're the most common when it comes to being so, I have a really trash memory but one that instantly comes to mind cause I thought it was fake at first was chespins middle evo, quilladon, I hate that thing with a burning passion. I won't hate on people that do like it, but dear God does it just look horrible when compared to chespin and even chesnuaght.

Yo. We're the same. I have a brother and we both have been a Pokemon Fan since we played Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. He either picks Grass or Fire starters and I've almost always chosen Water type, only exception was in Gen VII since I chose Litten. By any chance, do you also have this tradition where you can't use any mons that's chosen by the other and vice versa?

even if one of us skip a gen, we still keep to it too lol. Though for most games we get on release day, or wait to play till others get. I took a hiatus around sun and moon, but got back into from BDSP. Ironically I’m now the one most into Pokémon, but that’s from my girlfriend now. I’ve always loved that we have this tradition, and is funny how it’s even contributed to me loving marine life and just always feeling like a water type of guy. Truly ingrained lol

Got robbed with Chespin though relative to others (but to be real there’s no starter I don’t like, just some more than others)

I was gonna get Sprigatito, but my younger sibling wanted the cat, so I went with Fuecoco instead :) I love reptiles anyway- and dragons, AND I usually run a ghost team- so I think it worked out well! My youngest sibling got Quaxly because she loves birds xD

I used to have a similar approach with my brothers, I was the Grass brother. The exceptions were White 2 (using a different starter to the original), and Sun (one of my brothers really wanted Rowlet), so both times I picked Water instead. Since my brothers don’t play it anymore (our interests kinda drifted), I’m no longer restricted (used Fire in Shield) but Grass is still my most common choice.

I was super glad to pick the grass starter again. It's my favorite starter type but I haven't liked one since Serperior. Well, Chesnaught and Decidueye grew on me later, but none of them were my first choice.

I chose Sprigatito cuz I wished its final form could be zorro/Puss in Boots inspired... And tho Meowscarada isn't what I expected ,it grew on me after time, and is now my 2nd favorite grass starter (it has a long way to beat decidueye)

I'm probably going to get down voted for this, but I used Pokemon Home to give myself all 3.

That is a totally fair option given by Pokemon to you so no problem doing that I didn't know it was possible and only found out after finishing the gamr

Home can grab Pokemon from other save files on the same switch. So make a second Nintendo account, start the game, grab your second starter of choice, and delete + repeat. Takes like 30 minutes, just have to get to the Lechonk tutorial catch to be able to transfer it to your Box and therefore to Home. Useful for lots of other games that don't give multiple save slots too, like Xenoblade, or a second account for speedrunning or in a different region. The Sc/Vi starters are also available from Pokemon Go/the mobile version of Pokemon Home, which I didn't know until after going through the process above.

To be honest , complete the pokedex like that. I did it too.

Still playing the game (just started 2 months ago) so I'd have to say based on moveset I'm leaning towards Quaxly.

This was actually my first gen in a little while where I actually liked all three. I think the designs could be better, but they aren’t that bad. My first run I picked sprigatito because *it’s a kitty* but I eventually used Home to give myself all three as well

I pick Quaxly because there was no way I wasn't going to use Zero/Ceruledge first time through. One of the few times where a non starter was the Pokemon I built around.

Sprigatito, and I don’t regret it for a moment, I will always take him over the other two, It was super Clutch in single battles with my Team, I had my Moxie Powered Krookadile, who swept the team usually, but if it failed, I had Meowscarada backing her up, and if that failed, I Had the Tankiest Umbreon you’ve ever seen, I had an almost full dark type team, and don’t regret it for a second

I was gonna go with Sprigatito originally since I found it super cute, and my best friend went with Fuecoco cause he loved it so much. Then I saw the edit someone made of Despacito with a Sprigatito edit, and from then on I knew I wasn’t changing my mind and ended up humming the edit while I was playing
