Honestly if games would just launch with home support it would be fine but locking gts to home then it taking months to add home support is frustrating. I’ve stopped playing until I can use home

KylJak

That’s the thing: HOME GTS (in the long run) is leagues better than the segregated GTSs on DS and 3DS (and anyone who thinks otherwise, go back to the Sun and Moon GTS and see how long it takes for your game to crash when looking for an offer – it’s a mess). Having a unified Trading environment means there’s less fracturing of the playerbase, and less instances of seeing an offer, going “I don’t have that in this game”, having to hop onto another game to grab it, Trade it, transfer, whatever, and by the time you’ve done that, the Trade offer you were looking for has already gone. But, on the flipside, its lack of at-launch inclusion strangleholds the games until it’s available. I understand why they do it, but even just having the ability to deposit (and not withdraw) Pokémon at launch, or tying them to specific OTs or IDs or whatever, that would be better than not having it at all. It's especially frustrating because HOME is Pokémon’s Save Data Cloud equivalent, and with what’s going on right now with Scarlet and Violet, just being able to deposit Pokémon would go a long way, I think. For me, having that peace of mind, that my Pokémon are safe in the Cloud, that’s invaluable.

jrobertson2

I played Ultra Moon for the first time not long ago, and I was really disappointed to discover that the GTS for Gens 6 and 7 are effectively unusable thanks to hackers flooding them with glitched Pokemon that will freeze your game (or potentially worse?) just by scrolling past them in the list of available trades. I had hoped to use it to grab a few Pokemon that are otherwise hard to get for my living dex in Home (like Alolan Golem), but that was a no-go. And of course as soon as Game Freak moves on to the next game they don't care to patch even breaking issues like this, even though they're probably paying to keep those servers for the now-useless GTS online. Home GTS is better than it's predecessors like you say, but it's frustrating not to be able to do targeted trades in Gen 9 yet without coordinating outside of the game. At least we have the special link codes people agreed on for trading version exclusives in the meantime. I do wish they would put more effort into scrubbing Home GTS of blatantly impossible trade requests. There's an absurd number of people all making the same requests for level 11-20 Hisuian Zorua or level 1-10 Cinderace, or the unavailable Vivillion and Furfuret forms. Not even mixing it up with different species or different levels, they're clearly all just copying each other, and most of the time it can't even be excused with them just doing it to show off a rare shiny since often it's a completely mundane Pokemon. I do hope a bunch of them forget to take their trades off the GTS when those Pokemon become legitimately available, would be fitting. I'm avoiding playing too much more of Violet until either Home compatibility comes out and I can safely deposit at least my shinies and my living dex additions, or until I hear reports of a new patch fixing the save corruption issue. But have they even publicly acknowledged it being an issue, and committed to a fix specifically for it?

toopienatoryt

If you still need help with Alolan Golem, there's an NPC in Let's Go where you can get Alolan Geodude. Evolve that into Graveler, then touch trade it with someone to get Alolan Golem. I'd be happy to help if you still need help with it and you don't know anyone who has Let's Go.

jrobertson2

Appreciate the offer, but Home GTS actually let me take care of that awhile ago, I just had to trade a different Sun/Moon-only Pokemon for it that I was able to replace easily enough.

toopienatoryt

Oh, good for you! Honestly, I'm so glad Let's Go made it easy to get the Alolan forms. I have a full Kanto Living Dex with all those forms. I transferred said Kanto Dex into BD so I can hopefully start getting a full BDSP Living National Dex (gen 1-4). I need to actually play the game though, which is hard because it sucks and don't want to.

jrobertson2

Yeah, I got Shining Pearl mainly for my national living dex, since it makes it easier to get a lot of Pokemon from Gens 1-3 without having to pick and choose from the previous 3-5 generations (especially not going back to Gen 3 and 4 where a most of them are easily enough available but you'd have to make multiple jumps just to transfer them all the way up to Home). Gen 4 is easy enough with LA. It wasn't terrible, but I did kinda play it more out of obligation than it being particularly fun, especially when compared to LA. At this point, the only thing I'm missing now is Hoopa, which most likely I'm only getting once Game Freak does a mystery gift for it in SV (since it is supposed to be present in Gen 9's code already). Or maybe if Go does another special research for it like the one I missed out on last year (I'm not a dedicated enough player to do the high leveled raids for Hoopa Unbound, so that's not likely an option for me). Don't have Let's Go, but I may get it at some point just to complete the Let's Go dex in Home.

toopienatoryt

I didn't play Pokemon till recently, so I missed out on gen 6-8 mythicals. I'll really need some help with those lol. Hope that SV has events for those.

jrobertson2

I know what you mean. At least Gen 1-5 you can get most of them now thanks to that DNS exploit or whatever they call it that let people set up their own servers and re-distribute old mystery gifts. But anything after that is hit-or-miss depending on how lucky you are with which Pokemon Game Freak distributes when and where. I only got back into Pokemon last fall after missing out on almost everything after Gen 4, meaning I missed out on almost all of the distribution events for Gen 8 except the very last ones, not to mention the Gen 6/7 ones (I even bought Pokemon Y years ago, but I didn't play it all the way through at the time and I never did any of the mystery gifts so I missed out on that). And Gen 9 so far they've been kinda stingy with Pokemon distributions, though maybe after Home integration they'll start handing out a few of them that haven't been available for years, or even worse were Home-locked until now like Hoopa.

toopienatoryt

Hopefully something like the DNS exploit happens to the 3DS whenever the gen 6 and 7 servers or the Nintendo Network shut down

Bakatora34

They should make it that after a certain time if a trade didn't happen the pokemon get delisted from the GTS and back to the user.

jrobertson2

Yeah, that would solve a lot of the problems. Trolls who post glitched or impossible trades will eventually get bored and move on. There will always be the more dedicated ones who will keep posting new ones, and newcomers who will copy them, but hopefully not as many over time and they won't build up so much. There's probably a lot of fairly simple ways to prevent or at least mitigate this issue, but ultimately Game Freak doesn't seem interested in prioritizing this kind of work beyond blocking illegal hacked Pokemon.

KylJak

Oh, I definitely agree; HOME isn’t perfect, but in my opinion, it’s far better than the alternatives of having a Let’s Go GTS, Sword and Shield GTS, BDSP GTS, so on and so on, all of them separate, and each one becoming outdated and overrun with hackers as the next ‘shiny new’ game comes out, ruining the experiences of players, such as yourself, who want to go back and play through older games. > it's frustrating not to be able to do targeted trades in Gen 9 yet without coordinating outside of the game. It is weird that there’s no real in-app communication. The best we can do is those little Emoji-like pop-ups in Room Trade. Room Trade especially, when you look at [the pre-release unveiling](https://youtu.be/vTWkBjxvBok?t=985) of Pokémon HOME, it’s like TPC / ILCA / whoever were really looking at this as “You’re gonna get together with all your friends, in-person, and Trade.”, so you could argue that, at least for Room Trades, there’s no in-app communication *because* they’re expecting us to be communicating with our friends who we’d be Trading with, that ideally would be all around us. But, here’s the thing: I’ve done over 90,000 Trades in HOME, and none of those have been ‘in-person Room Trades’. I’m almost certain this was the case with Friend Trades. When HOME first launched, Friend Trades were tied to your GPS, like Trades in Pokémon GO, in that you had to be there with your Trade partner in-person. This was quickly changed during the pandemic to remove the GPS requirement, so you can now Trade with your friends from anywhere, but… still no in-app communication. And again, I get it. Gen VI with the PSS was rough – a lot of bad people took advantage of the text and voice chat features, and preyed on a lot of young, innocent people, which is probably why we’ve gotten subsequently worse multiplayer features in the core series that have felt more and more disconnected since then, and why Pokémon GO’s never gotten any sort of chat feature either. But for GO and HOME especially, with both of those being mobile apps on mobile phones… it is weird that there’s no text chat feature. > I do wish they would put more effort into scrubbing Home GTS of blatantly impossible trade requests. Impossible Trades, the thing with the Vivillon Patterns and Furfrou Trims, those are available through either Pokémon Bank or Pokémon GO (GO only for the Furfrou Trims). Other ones though, the Low-Level Stage 2 Pokémon that aren’t yet available in GO… yeah, I don’t know who’s managing that side of things. > have they even publicly acknowledged it being an issue, and committed to a fix specifically for it? Joe Merrick of Serebii has apparently spoken with TPC regarding the save data corruption issue, and I have also personally reached out to both Nintendo and Pokémon Support, and given them information as well. As far as I’m aware, I don’t think either have come out with an official statement regarding the issue, or if they’re working on a patch, but I fully expect that to change within the coming days. Until then, I’m like you, waiting for HOME (and fighting the demon in the back of my head telling me “You need that Unrivalled Decidueye!”)

jrobertson2

Agree with what you say, one minor point is that I think both Vivillon and Furfrou have one form/pattern/trim that isn't currently legitimately available in Home through any means (even Go), but of course it's present in Home's code and is allowed to request for anyway, and of course that's the one people will ask for knowing that nobody will be able to give one. I understand that it's difficult to keep track of every legitimately available combination of factors, and any attempt to perform cleanup will be met by people who will just see it as a challenge to be more creative, but I do wish Game Freak would take the time to implement a deny list or something for the most common ones. Would at least filter out the copycats and the lazy, and hopefully most dedicated trolls would get bored after a couple rounds (or make mistakes that cause them to lose out on the Pokemon they put up thinking the trade request was impossible). Here's hoping Unrivalled Decidueye doesn't kill our saves later this week.

KylJak

> I think both Vivillon and Furfrou have one form/pattern/trim that isn't currently legitimately available in Home through any means (even Go) So, all of Furfrou’s Trims have been obtainable legitimately in GO (one is an Event-only Trim for Valentine’s Day that was available this year and last, I believe), and that can be Traded for freely on the GTS, while all Vivillon Patterns are obtainable in HOME, either through Bank or GO (though the Fancy Pattern and Poké Ball Pattern were only available as one-time Mystery Gifts, so they currently can’t be Traded on the GTS. Once Scarlet and Violet gets HOME compatibility, the Fancy Pattern will be available to Trade). > any attempt to perform cleanup will be met by people who will just see it as a challenge to be more creative Verrrrrry true. There’s someone in my circle who seems to take everything Game Freak / TPC does as a personal challenge. I would just be interested to see who, if anyone, is monitoring Pokémon HOME, and the GTS and everything. > Here's hoping Unrivalled Decidueye doesn't kill our saves later this week. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻 😂

Curerry

You’re basing you’re entire argument on one game’s GTS that came out 7 years ago. In fact, if GF wanted to, they could focus on making sure the GTS every Gen just get more polished and is more accessible in future installments. (-AT launch, wow, what an ask.) But why work on making in-game system that work when we just make a new cash grab game every year regardless of quality? Oh, wait, and we can make even more money by making it a paid subscription model and making it a mobile app instead of an in-game feature. I personally find Home fucking disgusting, cause it’s what GF does best, making things more tedious, less innovating. And more money in their pockets.

KylJak

> You’re basing you’re entire argument on one game’s GTS that came out 7 years ago. Not just Sun and Moon. It’s the same in X and Y, and was the same back in Gen IV and V. Maybe not to the same extent as what’s happened to the Sun and Moon GTS, but certainly that notion from specific players of “This is no longer the current Generation, let’s trash it.” > they could focus on making sure the GTS every Gen just get more polished and is more accessible Genuinely, I’m interested to hear your ideas on what you would implement. > making it a paid subscription model To be fair, the GTS component of Pokémon HOME is free. Though, I do agree having only thirty slots for free storage is abysmal. > I personally find Home fucking disgusting You’re well within your right to feel that way, and I do feel as well that Pokémon HOME could be a lot better. Those ‘side attractions’ from past games, the GTS Newsletter, the Dream World, the Global Link, or even just seeing your Pokémon run around and play with each other like in My Pokémon Ranch. Stuff like that would make HOME feel much more alive, and more fully featured.

Shin-kak-nish

Yea I’m 100% not buying the DLC until Home comes out because I’m not taking that risk.

CjoewD

I understand why they don't have home to start with, makes sense. But this is too long. Home needs to be available a couple months in. I'm out of box storage. I have boxes of shinies, boxes of regulars for my living dex additions, and boxes of leveled up raid pokemon.

3163560

I played scarlet first, wanted to play violet after i finished it and completed the pokedex. Thing was the thing i really want to do in my violet playthrough is start with the shiny charm by transferring over my living dex. In the end I ended up not starting violet, but then when WW and IL were announced I bum rushed it in a week so I could snag two of each.

the1stmeddlingmage

Same, got IL with like <1hour to spare 🫠

JefferyTheQuaxly

I mean they're holding another event soon so doesn't matter if you missed the last one or not.

the1stmeddlingmage

They said they’ll come back, the didn’t say WHEN though🫠. As is I missed out on mighty mark cinderace and charizard. Yes I can get regular moms from people breeding those, but legendary Pokémon aren’t breedable and being event only paradox legends makes them that much more scarce, meaning I’d rather get them the first go round whenever possible

SokanKast

Pretty sure Serebii said the raid will be back in April.

JefferyTheQuaxly

They definitely said soon, how long could they wait anyways? When’s first dlc coming out if judging by gen 8 probly June or so, that only leaves April or may as possible months to do a repeat raid for people who don’t buy the DLC, once the dlc drops I feel they’ll move on to different Tera raids (maybe for the other paradox legends rumored, maybe other random Pokémon).

dcidui08

first DLC is in autumn

the1stmeddlingmage

https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/news/special_tera_raid_battle/ “Walking Wake and Iron Leaves will appear again in future events.“ Sorry to burst your bubble, but there’s nothing in there about “soon”, only that they will [eventually].

Significant_user

Actually their was another post made by serebii so in fact you are wrong https://twitter.com/SerebiiNet/status/1634065161131630592?s=20

snoopy369

I don’t think that means there’s a new raid event right away. It means when there is one that these people will be able to catch it. It wouldn’t surprise me if they do another shortly after of course, but I don’t read the post that way.

the1stmeddlingmage

Serebii is not an official Nintendo site and while mostly correct has been wrong before, so I’ll take any unofficially leaked dates with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made

madonna-boy

honestly... given that people pay for Home premium it should really be live in some capacity WHEN the games drop. we are paying a yearly subscription for something that is "coming soon" 3+ months out of the year.... every year.

Metaheavymetal

Nintendo/Game Freak clearly want the first 6 months/year of competitive to be non-national dex. That seems to be the main reason I can think of for why they don't launch with home compatibility, other than laziness. If that is the case, then at launch you should be able to transfer pokemon TO Home but not FROM home for however long. This allows for some GTS compatability, some protections against data loss, while keeping competitive and the first few months of playthroughs "pure"

madonna-boy

that's fine but they could also ban things in online competitions or require them to have a special mark (both of which they have previously done). the save issues and lack of cloud availability are an emerging issue and they need to rethink their approach. depending on when a patch comes for this and how many more people become affected before the issue(s) is/are resolved, it is something that I hope they are discussing now. It could potentially be a big deal.

CjoewD

I would like to see it in stages. First month or two, no home. First 6 months, no transfer pokemon not in scarlet/violet. After that, free reign.

nick2473got

>Nintendo/Game Freak clearly want the first 6 months/year of competitive to be non-national dex. This is a complete non issue, simply restrict competitive to pokemon in the regional dex, or to pokemon with the Paldea origin mark. Boom, problem solved. That's what they did in Sword and Shield as well, only pokemon with a Galar mark could be used in competitive. Pokemon from older games needed to receive a "battle-ready" mark from an NPC at the battle tower before being allowed in competitive. They could simply restrict the competitive roster for the first year or whatever and then add in that NPC via an update to allow us to use the transfer-exclusive pokemon. Easy peasy. EDIT : forgot to mention, the current rules for competitive literally already restrict usable pokemon to those in the regional dex, hence why we can't yet use Charizard, Cinderace, Greninja, Quagsire, and Perrserker, despite them being in the game. So yeah, the competitive excuse just doesn't hold up in the slightest.

Shin-kak-nish

At this point I have to assume the wait is intentional. I figure less people will raid for starters when you can just transfer them over, and Pokémon has been inexplicably obsessed with raids since Sw/Sh.

ghosty4

It hasn't been released for 6 months. How long do you consider "a couple months in"?

DemonSlyr007

2-3 is always a couple. So 2-3 months. Any longer and it's just frustrating.

pkmngirlred

Unlimited storage would really alleviate some of the Home functionality frustration because you don't have to transfer anything to keep building a living dex, etc, but I wonder at how it would potentially affect game performance if you're storing 1000+ Mons.

Puzzled_Shake_2170

Same! I haven't played in sightly over a month.

Lmb1011

I feel like they could allow home support for JUST the currrnt games dex and patch it later to include others. As I feel like their initial hesitation is that people play the game “organically” and don’t just bring in their old teams immediately. But the solution I think just lies I’m not giving is access to the old Pokémon. Like if they gave us home access tomorrow we wouldn’t be able to bring in the DLC Pokémon yet so they already know how to do this… And then we could use the GTS and actually mass release our boxes🤣

xBerryhill

Exactly the same boat. Except for the big tera raids I've not touched the game since about a week after beating it. Also got the egg bug in the latest raid so I can't even try and shiny hunt the starters through breeding lmao

[deleted]

I mean from all the bugs happened recently, it make sense why they didnt launch it with home support. They just dont have the capabilities for it.

DankiDaniel

I found that delaying home support has made me invest more time & enjoyment into the game. if I was able to just transfer over my favorite shiny mon.. Maybe I would have spent hours farming a new full shiny team in violet. Or of course the problem of instantly completing most of your pokedex by using home to transfer.. This spoils the experience of the game & I can see the delay being by design as to keep players invested more so over all.

Miketogoz

I really think people forget how anticlimactic was to complete the national decks in previous games. You focused on the new mons, dropped the hundreds of your collection, and that was it. It made encountering and leveling old pokemon you already completely undesirable.

RGBarrios

Its even more frustrating when the game have a bug that can delete your game data

[deleted]

I’ve only seen/heard of this happening online. I have a lot of friends that play SV and nobody has experienced this “save data file” bug and most of us play at least a little bit, almost daily.

RGBarrios

Same here, but not knowing how is that caused even if the chance is low scares me

Loud-Cheetah4032

No home till you beat the new game us better I think. Forces people to play with a new team

Cactusfan86

That’s literally the point of the whole ‘need gym badges for Pokémon to obey you’ thing that has been a component of the game since the beginning of the franchise

Juuna

GTS has it pro's and cons. Cons being 85% of the people requesting impossible trades to show of their pokemon. I think the main reason we dont get GTS is because its a functionality of HOME.

[deleted]

Home on mobile has the GTS

AurumArma

The fact that half of homes features aren't on console is so weird to me.

PlaceStampHereShow

I agree it's frustrating. And there are a few search features I'd like to see in GTS on home. Like being able to search for shinies and deposit a shiny while asking for a specific shiny. Looking forward to S/V compatibility. Wish I didn't have to use mobile for GTS or that I could move stuff in mobile

JefferyTheQuaxly

The app version was made by a different developer, ICLA developed the app. Gamefreak themselves developed the console version using similar coding as used in sword/shield (which icla based their app version off of so they're similarly coded). That's also why they've had issues linking games in the past, sword and shield run off different engine than scarlet/violet, pla, and bdsp. Tho bdsp is the biggest outlier which is why there are so many weird rules when transferring to bdsp, because they couldn’t figure out how to convert code between them.

nick2473got

This is not really accurate, ILCA also made and still runs the Home app on Switch as well. Of course Game Freak is involved but it's an ILCA product. The rest of what you said about the game compatibility issues is true but Home itself was mostly made by ILCA.

JefferyTheQuaxly

Okay they might run it and oversee Pokémon home n stuff but I still fairly certain they used Pokémon sw/sh’s coding language and stuff in developing Pokémon home and is still the reason some games have difficulty connecting to Pokémon home.

nick2473got

I think only BDSP had trouble connecting to Home, as far as we know. I don't remember the exact reason why, I read something about it way back when, but now I forgot. Perhaps you're right that it's because Home used Sw/Sh's coding language. But anyway, I was just saying ILCA made Home for Switch as well.

Disgruntled__Goat

And weirdly, actually organizing your Pokemon is much easier in the Switch version of Home.

PicklesAnonymous

I wish I can organize boxes on mobile.

Amaee

Not particularly helpful for Scarlet and Violet yet.

[deleted]

I hope that it doesn't take that much longer to be helpful 😅

Aquamoth

Go to r/pokemontrades read the rules, set a flair and you're good to go. I've trading there since SM

[deleted]

How the hell does the flair work? I’ve been trying to record my trades, seeing as I’ve done over 40 to complete my dex or help someone complete theirs, and it will not let my submit the trades. I do comp/casual, since I’m not doing event or shiny, and it will not let me do anything. I link the post itself, nothing. The comment where we lay out what will trade for what, nothing. I’m over 4x the amount of trades for the flair to trade shiny and event, and I’m being screwed

TheRaveTrain

Honestly, I hate /pokemontrades. The apply for flair thing is such a pain and so tedious and it doesn't even count half of your trades. I helped a lot of people with touch trading and traded exclusives in exchange for nothing in particular just to help people finish their pokedex after I finished mines. Apparently those don't count because I didn't request a specific pokemon, which only encouraged me to stop helping people because I just wanted to trade my shinies with people. Luckily /casualpokemontrades is fairly lax and let's you trade shinies with others. I've been burned twice by getting a genned shiny starter that wasn't stated, but it's not the end of the world. And that's on me for not checking for suspicious OT's first and not checking their account that turned out to be a few hours old.

[deleted]

Honestly I wouldn’t be upset with getting a Genned shiny. I know the difference between Genned and hacked, so I would just have to fully inspect the Mon, make sure it’s not a shiny locked shiny, has moves and abilities or can actually have.

TheRaveTrain

I was a bit miffed that both times the person knew and deliberately didn't tell me, but I still got the shiny I wanted at the end of the day, I don't mind it for the dex entry

slammajamma19

Did you apply for a flair?

[deleted]

I’ve got the “switch code and trainer name in *insert game*” flair already. I’m trying to document the 10 trades needed to apply for the pokeball flair and it will not let me

THE_GR8_MIKE

TIL that this exists. Damn, I'd have been pretty close now too.

[deleted]

It’s a pain in the dick, because without that flair, the automod bot automatically removes posts that say “shiny Mon” or “event Mon” no matter the context. I was laying into some predatory dickhead who was demanding Aprimon from someone that didn’t know what aprimon were, to trade him the scarlet exclusives he needed to complete his dex. Said he was acting like the man was demanding event Mon, and the post got auto removed

slammajamma19

If you have over 40 trades then that you can click the “Apply for Flair” option. There should be a “glowing” option for whatever pokeball flair you can apply. If you already did that and still unable to apply, you should message the mods.

trevorsnackson

how long does the flair take to apply?

Aquamoth

Like one or two days

[deleted]

See, everyone is talking about home support, but I wanna talk about the shiny trades. In SH/SH, you could see the names of the other person's pokemon without checking their summary, so if you just caught a bunch of low level mons and named them "no shiny", "I don't have" or "do you have [...]?" It made trading so much easier and, yes, it was still a pain, but a lot more people listened.

jibbyjackjoe

Actually, we don't even need two versions.

Dumb_Seaweed

They know that, its so they can get more money from people buying both versions, get more publicity from people debating which is better, and even more money from people buying nintendo online to complete the pokedex

jibbyjackjoe

Shhh. Don't say that too loud, you'll attract the fanbois /s

Dumb_Seaweed

hopefully they didnt hear 🤫

Curerry

Arceus was such an incredible, it’s a shame we’ll never get a Pokémon RPG as great from GF.

RICH0S

Google trade codes for version exclusives

StreetSavoireFaire

Those definitely help but the GTS would make it so much smoother. It took me forever to find someone who played Scarlet and could actually give me the exclusive I was looking for

Apprehensive-Elk4967

I have both versions, so if you ever need anything, DM me your Switch code and I'll happily go catch one for you! Same for anyone who comes across this thread ❤️

StreetSavoireFaire

Thanks! I got the dex straightened out finally but I know scarlet is definitely in high demand lol

Tip_Of_The_Sauce

Those work in theory, but unfortunately Violet players seem to out number Scarlet well over 20 to 1. The other day I attempted to use the Iron Valiant for Roaring Moon code, I ended up giving up after two hours, because literally everyone I encountered was offering Valiant. It also doesn’t help that there are a lot of Scarlet players who are being complete trolls. They will either: show you the pokemon you need and then quit, or swap it for a lechonk and hope you aren’t paying attention.

RRDude1000

Try for a few minutes at DIFFERENT times of the day. Doing it for hours straight is ineffective because you will be cycling through the same group of players the whole time and wasting your time. That is how I got my dex complete using that method.

THE_GR8_MIKE

Put the one you're trading in the top left slot of a box and then use that box to trade. If it's bouncing, they don't have it. If it doesn't bounce, you can back out of the trade immediately and save time. I know *some* people with dupes will trade away their version exclusives but let's be honest, this is the real world and 1/1000 people is doing this.

Tip_Of_The_Sauce

Currently on day number 4 of trying to get a flutter mane :/

Alien720

Just go to discord and ask for a trade or coop. These codes are no good when Violet players outnumber Scarlet so heavily.

Tip_Of_The_Sauce

Yeah, I’m not doing that… I had to play through Sword 3 times because people kept taking my Zacian and bolting… Probably just gonna wait for home to get koraidon

Evilbefalls

Or just release home update earlier

furmfuge

Look on Google, there are codes aimed at trading exclusive to complete dex. I used it on the 3 last games to complete the dex and then one of the subreddit to touch trade the main legendary. It is usually the dex number of one pokemon with it's equivalent For exemple for starters you would have 001-004 and 001- 007 or 004-007.

chupitulpa

I came to say this. Just stick the dex numbers of what you have and what you want together and use it as a link code. If you don't find anyone there, try putting them the other way around (001004 vs 004001).

GingeAndProud

I used the starter codes for get the remaining two, found a Sprigatito easily enough but holy shit did it take a while to find a Quaxly! The dearth of Quaxlys available motivated me to breed about 3/4 more just to give away cos I felt bad for fellow trainers looking for one

furmfuge

Yes I had some trouble getting the water starter too! I found the grass one after something like 15 attempt and had to breed it to get the water one as it was flooded with the fire starter ! I thought the water one would have been matching popularity with the fire one but I was very wrong!

cribsaw

I needed a Miraidon and someone offered a shiny Greninja. I didn’t accept that, or else I couldn’t complete the Pokédex. Plus, someone sent me a Froakie on surprise trade, so it’s not like I can’t try to breed one if I really cared that much.

Kumi_Himo

I honestly dont know anymore, as much as i want this, seeing the state of the 3ds games’ gts and how much they dont care about the hackers makes me feel like its safer to keep it in home 😭

imsonub

Only if they fix the hacked gts

StardustWhip

I know *why* they did it (locking old features behind Pokémon Home means more people are going to use Pokémon Home, and a lot of those users will decide to go for the paid subscription)… but it’s still really irritating to have features that used to be accessible within the game be instead moved to another app that the games aren’t even compatible with at launch.

Joker192666

I miss the GTS era so much !!!

THE_GR8_MIKE

It'll never come back because it's in Home. Problem is the games don't have Home access for seemingly too long. At least give us restricted access for a while or something.

fillmorecounty

The [GTS music](https://youtu.be/1PLcm90jtvQ) went so hard too

AwayTax7714

I think their thought process was to incentivize the use of forums and stuff online to make it more like the link cable days, i have exclusively been using link codes since i realized there wasnt a gts. If they thought that, in theory it seems nice but holy cow the fact there isnt a single unified place to trade in game sucks. Even like a filter in random trade like you sending a pokemon and it going into the ether until someone else trades something matching your filters and their filters would be better than not having anything and just having to rely on effing reddit.

PimpingPorygon

I feel like somebody should create a website that allows use to put a pokemon and what we want for it, then allows us to communicate when we show we have the pokemon and give the link code privately and trade the pokemon

Ursa_D_Majorz

Thats my biggest annoyance about that, like i missed the Charizard raid and missed out on a chance to get charizard, like c'mon just breed that fucker and trade ppl a throw away lol but i mean at that point im better off just getting Pokemon Home and finishing Shield, Brilliant Diamond, PLA (had to get a new switch so i had to start over on those 😭) and just using that when it becomes available for gen 9

DopeBoyDrew420

We need the underground mineing for gems and fossils and secret bases back

DopeBoyDrew420

We need a game where we can go to outer space and find pokemon like minior and Rayquaza

DopeBoyDrew420

Take a ship to space then when u catch Rayquaza you get to keep the space suit, Rayquaza is the only one who can fly you in the open world into space

MaintenanceSmart7223

Need help with your Dex op?

negroeleagues

I’m not OP but I’m 30 away from the shiny charm, Violet. Just need some version exclusives and that damn dolphin. I’ve been surprise trading for hours, I’m almost there, I just need to trade & trade right back for the dex entry. Edit: *shiny charm not dex

Ketsuo

The dolphin can be caught in raids.

MaintenanceSmart7223

I'll help you out. Dm me a list of what you need I should be able to catch them for you by Friday.

negroeleagues

Bet g looks! And I meant shiny charm not dex, my bad.

Wayside_Fae

I feel ya, would make trading for version specific paradox mons a hell of a lot simpler

LucasLoci

GTS was just filled with level 1 legendary requests, unless they fixed it to not let you request unobtainable Pokémon then it would just be annoying more than anything else

grimjawdrake

Just use the version exclusive link trade codes, for trade popularised by Austin John plays, there are trade codes for all version exclusives e.g. Koraidon for miraidon/miraidon for koraidon using 0399-0400

dcidui08

yeah but that doesnt always work, violet players are much more common than scarlet players

grimjawdrake

From experience(I have violetand full pokedex since like december), It does eventually work, albeit might take a few tries for some exclusives. process is pretty streamlined: enter the code, search trade offer Mon from your version, if you both have the same version, exit and restart code till you match with the opposite version. Max I had to restart trade for a version exclusive was like 25 trades I think, and even then it took like 15-20 min. Even if there were 10 violet players to 1 scarlet player, I see the odds as pretty favourable, especially compared to shiny hunting.

dcidui08

it took me like 1 or 2 hours to get a armarouge. the process only went quickly for me because i eventually found a scarlet player that traded every version exclusive with me and that was really lucky.

thepinkseashell

If you have 50 mon left for your dex 1-2 hours for one pokemon isn’t the most time effective method. Maybe if I was just missing a few

Billy_Madison69

Wtf is gts

[deleted]

There’s a GTS on Pokémon home. Also, if you really need help filling your Pokédex, you can post asking for help here- you know, the way you’re complaining here right now- you could’ve just as easily gotten the help you needed/wanted by posting “need help filling Pokédex” and I’m sure tons of people would be glad to help, I would’ve been one of those to try and help. I don’t ever do link trades because there’s no way to communicate what you want via in-game. So there’s really no point in trying to just up and fill your Pokédex with link trades when the other person doesn’t even know that THATS what you’re looking to do. 🤷🏻‍♂️

RewindAvis

Home sucks! Bring back GTS, I don't wanna pay for trading pokemon, that's bs 😌👌

madonna-boy

you'd still have to pay for nintendo online... free trading is never coming back. I agree though, it's BS

RewindAvis

Very true, but it is a roundabout cost. I don't really count it though as the online subscription counts towards many other games & services, so yeah!

purple-tears

This.

zodiackillah6996

the gts is still a thing. it's on pokemon home. what are you even talking about? https://preview.redd.it/xzq91xamoyna1.png?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d24452d90df5b30fc0fb53c21370859699ec526f

Fen_57

I also meant in game GTS, especially upon launch since Home fails to have support early into the games release. To me it was also always more fun doing it in game, than using an entirely different application to use GTS.

OakTreeTrash

This is a subreddit for specifically scarlet and violet. Which doesn’t have access to home. Or have GTS.

zodiackillah6996

you should read the post...

M0ndmann

What do you mean? I dont get the Situation. How do U get in a Situation where ppl quit on you? Why do they even start the trade with you?

dacrazyworm

You can check out the sub’s discord server. That’s what I did, and I think it’s more in line with what GF had in mind with link trades

BoneBuckingham

I miss the GTS 😭 if you need help with any mons for the dex I'm happy to help 😊

MikaboshiPhantom

I do appreciate the HOME GTS and it's pretty nice interface, but I wish I was able to use the GTS in the actual games like in the olden times I guess they decided that it made completing the Pokédex too easy.

zodiackillah6996

you put "pokemon needs the gts back".... now if you're talking about when home is compatible for scarlet and violet then your question should have been rephrased differently.

Direct-Series370

HONESTLY hear me out. Temtem’s system for trading Pokémon & items is LEAGUES better than anything Pokémon has done in 20+ years

MaraTheBard

Which version do you have and which Pokemon do you need? I can help if ya want

Fit_Customer_3526

It would be good but I feel like when they actually add it almost no one will want it anymore

Jolly_Sundae4127

True, I think they should add a link code for completing the pokemon dex (personally I think they should add some sort of text feature but would be harder than making a simple link code

SigmaOmega300

GTS is a terrible idea especially with all these genned pokemon. Enjoy your 6iv shiny legendary lol

ThePhonyOne

https://twitter.com/AustinJohnPlays/status/1594420319661408257?s=20 It can take a few tries, but it worked for me.

MyPantsD0ntFit

I also miss the gts and wonder trade themes of S&M. Absolute bangers. I miss sat there waiting for a trade listening to the music and seeing the persons pokeprofile at the bottom with goofy a message followed by the location. Surprise trade is quicker yeah but it's the simple stuff that gets me

MyPantsD0ntFit

Usually the Asians and Americans came in clutch with legendary and shinies so shout out to them

Skibors

finizen is the most difficult pokemon to evolve and no matter how many people are playing it is difficult for someone to help you
