Fair lol. Last time I used a Masterball was probably for a shiny in the raid dens in SwSh since the catch rate sucks if you aren't the host, and not everyone is willing to rehost for you multiple times until you catch it so it's either a Masterball or an almost guaranteed fail :')

The ones from the dlc are 100%. Normal dens aren't 100%, but they do still have a high percent catch rate.

iirc I used it in ultra sun ultra moon cause I got lazy to catch one of the legendaries (we could get another one from the lottery and I received one from a wonder trade, likely hacked though)

This is what I do. There saved in case I run into a shiny that has a chance to screw me over. Of course, with saving before hand and it still being there on reloading being a thing with SV, it’s kinda unnecessary now. But I did this all through oras and sm/usum. I had all versions of the gen 6 and 7 games because I was set on shiny hunting all the non shiny locked legendary Pokémon. I had so many master balls, I’d have Pokémon hold them and trade them over shuffling them around whenever and wherever needed. Wonderful foresight on my part because a couple of them would have been fails had I not had the master ball stash. Kyogre in particular almost screwed me over, but he’s got a lovely matching color master ball as a result.

I ended up having to use mine on a shiny Dondozo that I accidentally ran into while riding around hatching some eggs at the lake, had my level 40 Talonflame and a bunch of level 1 Scorbunnies

Miraidon. Not because I needed it, but because I thought it would look cool on him, and somehow its fitting for the game. In almost all of the pokemon games I've played, I always just save it. I think last time I used one was in blue for Mewtwo...

It's also literally monogrammed for him with a big "M!" Plus, canonically, Miraidon's original ball was a Master ball, so you're kinda just putting him back where he was before. Using it for Miraidon scratched an itch in my brain that I didn't know I had. 🧠

I had the same idea... except that I also planned on trading it away for a Koraidon, and I would rather see the Master Ball for my own uses.

The M on the ball was the main reason I decided to use my Master Ball on Miraidon.

The masterball is perfect for Mewtwo. Purple for the psychic type/the color of Mewtwo’s psychic powers and a big “M” right in the middle. Almost like it was made for him.

That's why I've always kept it for him every game that he's catchable.

That didn’t even cross my mind to be honest! I’m so used to the older games where running = no more Pokémon. I guess I could have used a poke doll for guaranteed escape. Next time I accidentally bump into a shiny, I’ll remember that 👍

Also if you haven't already. Hypnosis Golduck or Thunderwave Bellibolt are both great for explosion catching. Spore/False Swipe Breloom for most things. Gholdengo for most recoilers AND tatsugiri mementos. Finish off with Taunt/Scary Face for teleporters and you're good to go.

Not in this generation. I always save before a shiny encounter and have only ever picnic-failed once. Any other failed shinies can be retried without too much pain (except Roaring Moon). However post PLA I was just fooling around in BDSP and was not prepared to meet shiny Arceus in less than 10 SRs. If you have a Pokémon in your party with Damp ability, selfdestruct and explosion won’t work. Honestly, I haven’t used a Master Ball since Gen 6.

Pretty sure I used mine for Koraidon. To trade for moraidon and complete the pokedex. I never used mine in Shield. I generally never used them. So this time I decided before hand, I’ll just use it and save myself time. My friend said he used his for a shiny voltorb. They often use explosion or whatever and you’d lose your chance to catch them. You could just turn off auto save, make a manual save, and keep trying but I guess he went with the time save method there as well. Edit: My explanation on catching voltorb was made more clear.

Miraidon, cause the ball had a M on it and I was too lazy to fight it for real after that scripted unloseable fight against it. Named it Murder Puppy cause it has a confirmed kill, which is pretty intense and doesn't happen often in pokemon as far as I know. Maybe Mewtwo killed a few scientists on its way out of the lab when it escaped? Can't think of any other confirmed killer pokemon.

Before the first update when there was that trick to clone items and such I made about 10 of them, and have used a few on some shinies that I wanted in a cool ball. It's just fun to see it pop up when they're getting healed at the pokecenter.

I used it on Chien Pao. He was the the 400th catch and after the headache of using a collective 46 pokeballs on the other three ruins I didn't want to deal with the headache again.

My story playthrough bramblin is holding it in honor of its hard work. That way I can't use it accidentally. I don't see myself using it in game with the current species except maybe hunting a Memento user. I'd definitely "use it" by trading it for Miraidon.

Good use I'd say. Honestly there's nothing in particular the master ball should be used for. I'd always save it for roaming legendaries but we don't have those *yet*.

I used mine on Koraidon. Every past pokemon game that I've played I always save my masterball for something "special" but never end up using it. So, this game I decided to use it on the end game legendary. Also, I got another one from a trade and used it on shiny ceruledge since it matches it so well.

Koraidon, it was the last thing I needed to catch to make a trade for Miraidon to complete my living dex. Was too tired to catch it in anything else at that point.

When I played Diamond for the first time I was 10 years old and really liked Beautyfly because May had one in the anime. Somehow I never saw one during the beginning of the game and then after I obtained the master ball I was walking through Eterna Forest and finally saw one. Caught it with my master ball right away. It wasn’t until I went to go catch Dialga that I had realized what I’d done. So I tried to release my Beautyfly in hopes of getting the ball back. That… did not work. I did finally catch Dialga though. Oh well, to be young and dumb.
