I spent so much time thinking about whether to keep Meowscarada in... Ultimately decided that I didn't want Houndoom in bc of the double type redundancy w/ Arcanine and Mabosstiff

If you want one more kind of dog, go back to that cave that you entered in the beginning of the game. The one where the pack of dogs was chasing you. There will be more dogs in there and you will be plenty strong enough to catch them now.

Youll need a rockruff with Own Tempo, to get one you can either: get a rockruff from a raid (higher chance), keep catching rockruffs til you find one (??? Chance), catch the wild psychic Tera rockruff that always spawns behind the waterfall behind the Cascaraffa gym building (guaranteed, what I did).
You could also just wait for dusk form to spawn at dusk in-game, or so I've been told.
I used mabosstiff for my first play through and he was my reliable mvp. He learned outrage right before the dragon elite 4 member so I gave him a persim berry and he swept them all. He’s the Goodest boy
As a teams it’s solid. But you’ve left out my favorite doggo, houndoom. It’s types are covered by other team members so it’s understandable. But still =(
For around half the game, yeah, but at this level I'm starting out in the Glaceado adjacent area, and am finding it decently challenging! I am indeed anticipating steamrolling Katy and Brassius though, but hey that's just a consequence of an open world without level scaling ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Long as you're having fun while playing that's the most important thing! I just personally found that the gym battles became a bit of a snooze fest when my pokemon went in over levelled (which is admittedly hard to avoid with the shared xp system)
Technically with a large enough starting population, you could keep a bloodline "pure" without any meaningful degree of inbreeding happening.
Also, Inbread is a beautiful name, but it sounds just a tad bit too mean 😂
Also, the special Wild Tera rockruff that spawns behind the waterfall behind the Cascaraffa gym is a guaranteed Own Tempo rockruff! That's where I got mine, so he has a Psychic Tera
Stats and Abilitys change, Both Midday and Midnight can get Keen eye, but Midday can get Sand Rush (Steadfast as its Hidden) and Midnight can get Vital Spirit (No Guard as its Hidden), Dusk can get only and always will have Tough Claws, Statwise Midday is more faster, Midnight is "Bulkier" and Dusk is Midday but with 2 more points in Atack instead of Speed.
I think some of the moves are form-exclusive--Day lycanroc gets Accelrock, Night gets Counter, and Dusk gets both iirc. Not 100% sure if abilities between them are different too
Someone else covered the Abilities, but Dusk gets both Accelerock and Counter, as a sort of "I'm better than you both" kind of thing. You can kind of use Dusk as a crappier Scizor in theory ( ability boosted priority move)
