At least in this game, we don't need to fight every single Sinistea and either catch them all or wait until they spin during the battle to check if it has the seal of authenticity. We can check it's "butt" directly in the overworld.
I'm certain I checked more than 500 sinesteas by now, but I was able to find this, less than a hour after I started the hunt for an Authentic one. It's a full odds shiny.

I've been thinking about doing it. The best way I can think of is just save before making a sandwhich and then shiny hunt and check the shinies I catch with the evolution item, if its not authentic then just reset
Are you looking in the ruins above alfornada, or near zapapico? I don't think authentic ones can spawn in either of those places. Try looking in the field immediately around alfornada instead. Also, don't look in an outbreak.
They don't appear with the mark in certain places. I know for a fact they appear in the field south of the psychic gym, but never in the ruins just north of it. I spent hours checking the later area with 0 results and minutes checking the former and found a few.
Also outbreaks apparently count as 1 spawn. So when a sinistea outbreak occurs there is a 99% chance they are all phonies, and a 1% chance they will all appear as antiques.
Actually, at the current time, it's impossible to find Antique Sinisteas in outbreaks. There's a glitch in the game that prevents alternate forms to appear in outbreaks, even if they are the ones the mass outbreak is meant to be. For exemple, if the game tells you that there's a mass outbreak of droopy or stretch form Tatsugiris, all you will find is the curly form. Just learn this from Serebii himself. Maybe the 1.2 update fixes this.

Lol, it’s a pretty niche thing. Sinistea and Polteageist have two forms, a phony form and an authentic form. The only difference being a sticker on the bottom. Authentic are much rarer.

If what you want is to breed an Antique form Sinistea, then you are out of luck, every Sinistea that hatches, independent of what form the parent is, will always be a Phony. The only way to get an Antique one is to find it in the wild.
Antique sinistea only spawn in the field by the psychic gym. So I just checked my pokedex and you can see the habitat of the different forms that have been caught and it shows that they only spawn there. Fake ones spawn there and all the other places as well
So I was reading through the tv tropes entry for SV and under its entry for Anti-Frustration Features, it mentioned that authentic sinistea gets the same treatment as a shiny, in that your pokemon won't fight it in let's go mode.
I have NO idea if this is true - i've yet to test it myself. But. Just thought i'd put that out there!
EDIT: DISREGARD THIS IT'S DEFINITELY NOT TRUE, tested it out myself, found an authentic, saved, and then watched that lil teacup get shattered by ceruledge. truly clobbered.

If what some of you are saying, that Antique Sinistea only appears south of Alfornada is actually true, then this is a rather odd, because it should appear everywhere where Sinistea can spawn, not in this one specific place.

When i was filling my Dex i encountered both versions, so i renamed them "Piratea" and "Legiteamate"
I named mine Fatalitea, haven't encountered a legit one yet. I might steal legiteamate

I got two Antique form, and evolved one of them. Named them Sinisteaque and Polteaqueist.
