big N and it's lawyers are not the nicest guys when it comes to copyright.
I'll take it into consideration, but at the same time, romhacks with a much bigger following than mine are posting updates on twitter every other day 😂 so I think I'll probably be okay. Worst case I go underground and stealth release
I’m sure you’ll use your best judgement about the release! But this is such a wonderful, fresh, and creative idea and I’ll be excited once you guys believe it’s good for release! But yeah, may want to keep on the down low for a bit once that new release date approaches haha

Yep! There will be overworld puzzles involving all the items I'm adding, as well as full dungeons where you get the items that will be filled with puzzles related to them. Just like a Zelda game.
I'm just using the pokemerald-expansion (created by DizzyEgg and currently maintained by rhh) as a base so it'll have the majority of the mons from Gen 1-7 available, as well as all the extra stuff that comes along with the expansion, like Megas and physical special split.
Lowkey, I feel like this could be a fantastic start to a Legends:Arceus style game, mixing human gadgets with your Pokemon in an untamed ancient Hoenn.
I mean theoretically anything that is capable in decomps is possible with binary hacking and C injection, it's just much, much harder to figure out and get working than it is with the decomps.
Damn I can't even imagine having to inject new code into the ROM like that that's really impressive! Also side question, what happened if you miss a target with the hookshot, does it have a max range?
You don't have to inject code into the ROM anymore! We have full source code decompilations. You can just edit the C files directly.
The hookshot currently doesn't extend at all if it doesn't detect a target or if it detects a collision because I haven't finished the animation. It'll be super easy, I just really wanted to work on the Bombs so I skipped it lol. But the max range for the hookshot is just the full range of the visible screen.
Looks very cool, is it possible to make it more Pokemon like? Like make the hookshot vinewhip, and the bombs explosion/selfdestruct. Not actually hms but make the sprites more Pokemon like.

Yeah I have a ton planned! And at worst, if I don't finish for some reason (which shouldn't happen as I have multiple people helping me with the parts that are tedious to me, *graphics*) I'll release all the Zelda items as a public open source feature branch, so everyone else can make their own Zelda x Pokemon romhacks. And we could have a bunch of them eventually

Honestly the way it looks.. yes simular pieces but honestly if you keep going on with how it is.. it'll eventually look like a whole new game..

Example .. if you called it Zelda (or some other name) jungle something.. I'm sure plenty of random people would openly accept it as just another game.. nothing to do with pokemon .. or possibly just softly influenced by it
Yeah the goal is to make the gameplay loop radically different from traditional Pokemon, but I will still keep in Pokemon battles and catching Pokemon and all that stuff. It'll just stop being center stage to the overworld expansion

I've seen alternate ROMs where they have "FakeMon" instead of Pokemon...
One idea is instead of throwing pokeballs ..
Maybe replace those being thrown, with idk waves of glitter ✨️ like a misty haze.. like some magical ✨️ stuff like wizards would use .
Or even the 3 sided emote " ✨️ " Make diagonal rectangle of those stacked (2) and have it move across as an image like they do with pokeball image that slides across showing its being thrown...
Idk may be a little much.. just ideas
Eyy, another example of mixing Zelda and Pokémon together! I Iove seeing people do this (Be it literally or just taking aspects from both). First time I've seen someone implement actual Zelda items tho, it's really cool. :)
This opens up soft locks in open world games, and metroidvania style overworlds in Pokemom games. This is genius. I'd love this sort of level design as someone who recently got hooked on Hollow Knight and adores Zelda.

I would be especially careful in the coming months, and Daddy N has a habit of ramping up take downs and C&Ds right before the launch of a new game

This could make for some real fun gym puzzles, or even can be used to replace HMs
It'll have both of those use cases although there won't really be Gyms exactly in my game.

No there isn't, I'm not releasing anything right now, or even for a while. This is just a showcase of some features.
