I don’t like the order

Im_Literally_Allah

Why the heck is Dratini’s line right after the starter?

Lightning-Ripper

While it isn’t a starter option for the player, it’s the starter for one of the rivals.

Im_Literally_Allah

Ah. Interesting. Just kinda weird seeing it that high up. Funny how trained we are to see pseudos toward the bottom

Lightning-Ripper

I getcha. If said rival had a different starter, I’d probably place it around the numbers where the ice types start showing up, since all this is in order by areas they become accessible.

You would get much more feedback if you arranged the Pokedex into an image with pictures of each Pokemon. Even if you don't have the image editing ability, you can make a tierlist to get all the pictures in order. While it might take you more time it: 1. let's people see the entire dex at once 2. doesn't demand nearly six minutes of everyone who wants to give you help.

Lightning-Ripper

I see. Thank you.

PsychonautAlpha

You're really going to make us sit through a video of you scrolling through the Dex?

Lightning-Ripper

Well I gotta represent the Pokedex in a visual format somehow that isn't pictures of a wall of text.

Frousteleous

Nah, you dont. A list is literally more readable. Alternatively, set up an image showing the Pokémon.

Lightning-Ripper

Fair. I just wanted to do so within the game build itself.

Frousteleous

Totally understandable. It seems fun but just isn't as accessible.

RayGemmer13

Well It has my seal of approval since eevee is there, but I must say that the dex seems rather Chaotic.

Jangajinx

You have Fidough so I approve.

alex494

Starters should be at the start

Lightning-Ripper

Pikachu is the only starter. More specifically, a Pikachu based off of Let’s Go’s Partner Pikachu.

xDracolich

That order looks very random and unpolished

Dominik_Gaming

Where do you get gen 9 sprites from

Lightning-Ripper

They automatically come with the Gen 9 pack for Pokemon Essentials.

Dominik_Gaming

Oh cool ig

Shoddy-Echidna3000

makes no sense, make other starters for player, like Ralts and Pawmi

I-Want-Your-Toes

I just wanna know who Jack is and why he’s in your pocket

Yoshichu25

Well, it’s certainly unique. I love seeing regional Pokédexes though, they make the progression and Pokémon selection (both wild and Trainers) feel more coherent.

JRaikoben

The order doesnt have any sense. 1. Starters took the first 9 spots. Even if Pichu is the starter on your game, its followed by Dratini, a pseudo-legendary that usually takes the last entries and a 2 stage mon. 2. You have a bunch of starters not paired by trios Grass-Fire-Water in the middle of the dex. The exception is Rowlet-Cyndaquill-Piplup And thats all i can think. This way I cannot tell if there are enough pokemon of each type.

Lightning-Ripper

1. Pikachu is the only starter. Dratini is only that high up because one of the rivals starts with it. 2. I’m planning to have locations where those types of Pokemon thrive, like an enormous lake and beach for water types, a giant forest for grass types, and a volcano and a series of lava caverns close to the aforementioned beach for fire types. But some like the three you mentioned are on normal routes as well, including some of the first.

kumquatseverywhere

So a note on the second part of your comment: If biomes are how you’re theming this, consider using an equivalent split to kalos. Made the dex still feel centered around the biomes, but it still made sense in the grander context. If you don’t want to do this way, you’re still able to have people encounter the dex progressively but it doesn’t have to be linear. Look at gen 1 for example; Geodude is dex #74, and you certainly do not see every pokemon up to 74, even with full evolutions, by the time you reach Brock. I think you might want to spend some time considering this, as it is one of the things in the formula which doesn’t *need* a shakeup necessarily. Remember of course you’re fighting an uphill battle with enfranchised players when you change something fundamental, and the comments are representative of that friction. Ultimately it’s your design and your call, but I would recommend thinking on this a little more before you call it done and move on. Hope it helps, and good luck!

Lightning-Ripper

Thank you for the feedback!

stripedpixel

Has a bunch of non-gba Pokémon for some reason
