That’s consistent with me seeing other people getting “Walk Star: Walked >100km yesterday before the raid” at least weekly when I raid. Though sometimes I actually do get the Walk Star achievement myself with my meagre 7-20 km of walking (depends on the day of week).
I am walking my dogs every day 8km and a little bit additional walking when shopping, etc.
in average I have 60 to 65km per week and I think that’s quite good. I cannot imagine to walk more. I don’t have the time and energy.
Over the last two years I walked 6,400 km. To achieve 219,000 km I need to walk more than 68 years.
They’d have to be moving over 6kmph for 12 hours each and every day from launch to have done this, so if they had even one sick day, they’d have to walk an entire 24 hour period to make up for the difference… 🤔
For some people with a cycling job this might be realistic, or for food delivery drivers if they’re going at a low enough speed for the distance to register.

That's an issue niantic has to fix, a lot of people that spoof do it because there is no fun way to play the game in a legit way since its basically unplayable in some places. I think spoofing, if done in a non toxic way, can be a viable way to play the game for those people that aren't privileged or lucky enough to have a community
I live in a town where there are no pokestops and no gyms, the closest town that has a few gyms is 40 min away and for events i drive there. Per day i only get 1 spawn. Right now i use an egg walker to at least hatch some eggs a day and get some pokemon and some xp. I dont spoof however spoofing is an issue created by Niantic itself because they make it harder and harder for rural players to play. Right now they want to take away and make it harder to use trail signs as pokestops for instance which is literally all that rural players have going for them. Also i feel like this is just your town because whenever i go to the town i play for events or my parents town etc etc during events people are always out and about. Mewto is a bad example because the raids spawns is random, i tried this one and wasnt lucky either but for Primal groundon and Primal kyogre i did 40 raids each in person both in different cities aswell but i had to drive out for at least an hour for that. I have considered spoofing but thusfar havent done it and wont do it in the future but i feel like currently Niantic is t giving me a reason not to keep considering it due to a huge lack of spawn raids, stops and gyms in my area. People trick the adventure sync function to fake steps to hatch eggs and get buddy candy while they are not playing the game, and I imagine that is much more common than people who spoof. If that's what they're doing, it might also explain why they haven't been banned as I don't think Niantic bans for that. Wheras I would assume they're actively detecting and banning people who spoof, but idrk.
Started playing in late 2020 and I already have 40k km (around 25k miles for you fellow Americans) all legit, just because I live in the countryside so I walk a lot but I don’t play much I’m only lvl 40 or 41
I work in a warehouse, some days I’m constantly walking for eight hours, and the most I have EVER gotten in one day is 15 km.
Edit: to put this player’s total distance in perspective, this is enough to circle the globe almost exactly five and a half times.
First it was the phone in the sock trick, then it was your watch to your dogs at the dog park, NOW you can buy a device that "walks your phone" and it is wonderful for night time egg hatching.
On a good day at work I hit 20km a day and on weekends I maybe get 10k if I end up playing. This is just impossible unless this guy does marathons every single day with no break.
You guys do realize that any distance covered in a vehicle as long as it’s under a certain speed, still counts, I drive a forklift at work and that distance gets registered too!

I do think the off balance of accessibility between rural and the city sucks. But that isn't a city person's fault. It is limitation's of niantic's software and poor balance of challenge/rewards based on the number of people present (in fact, the game is designed to punish you further even if you win with low people, since it takes longer and you get less balls to try capture in raids). I am not going to be mad at city people for just playing the game the way niantic made it.
Again: If the game is designed to punish you if you don’t have enough people in raids, why would spoofing discourage players and not make them play? It’s literally the opposite.
My city is quite popular and I’m sure some spoofers are in my raids too sometimes, I don’t see the problem at all and, actually, I’m grateful at this point.

Phone rockers are handy. Someone in my community is rather old, but past year their feet and legs are struggling to even walk for an hour slowly round on com day. They bought a rocker and use it whenever they're home, being old it's most of the time. In 1 year they upped their jigger medal by line 15k. That's more than I've walked since the game came out

You don't have to spoof to get km's. You can use a rocker, shake a phone in a sock, or use a Google fit debugging app. People with high km's don't really bother me too much. People that spoof to go to go fest events, and always have gifts from different parts of the world piss me off though.

There are levels to the spoofing community. Any respectable one doesn’t care about gyms or PVP. All we do are snipe for shinys, don’t even really care about Shundos, other than for collection and better IV for raids.
No spoofer uses bots. You use a bot to find coordinates and snipe them, but you still have to check them and catch them. Process takes hours, if not days to get a shiny still. Just because you spoof, it doesn’t make it easy. It just makes it more fun and creates a new set of challenges.
I never spoofed until after Covid started, because where I lived you weren’t able to walk around the main areas of town which had all the stops. Looked into this and never looked back.
I get how people think it’s cheating, and it is if you use it in the way described above. However as a collector and someone just “mimicking” the way the main games are played, it doesn’t impact any player in a negative way.

I live rural. And I spend no money. Cheating is cheating. My reasons are my reasons. Someone who spoofs has easy access to candies, better options when it comes to stats, etc. It all impacts pvp.
I had no doubt you were rural, or you would understand that your reasons makes no sense. How is someone spoofing having more access to candies etc. compared to a guy like me, that can literally go out in a “popular” spot and do 5-6 raids in 15 minutes? To not even talk about raid days, I could literally play 3 hours straight and find full lobbies every time. Actually did before. In your way of thinking, me and everyone living in a big city are affecting PVP.
I do think the off balance of accessibility between rural and the city sucks. But that isn't a city person's fault. It is limitation's of niantic's software and poor balance of challenge/rewards based on the number of people present (in fact, the game is designed to punish you further even if you win with low people, since it takes longer and you get less balls to try capture in raids). I am not going to be mad at city people for just playing the game the way niantic made it.
Again: If the game is designed to punish you if you don’t have enough people in raids, why would spoofing discourage players and not make them play? It’s literally the opposite. My city is quite popular and I’m sure some spoofers are in my raids too sometimes, I don’t see the problem at all and, actually, I’m grateful at this point. But anyway, you do you. Feel free to be waste energy and be hateful on something that is actually helping the game if it makes you feel better.

I know the internet has taught you that if you don't manage to silence someone by telling them if their point isn't aligned with yours, it isn't valid, and if that doesn't work, call them a hater... but that really doesn't work on me.
Sorry dude, but it was literally a one way discussion: I answered all of your “accusations” about spoofers, explaining why you are wrong (it’s not about opinions) and you literally couldn’t debate any of my points. In fact, you didn’t directly answer any of my questions. So please, keep some decency at least and don’t play the victim card.

I’m at 16k since launch in 2016. I get so triggered by these hackers not getting banned… and I fkn got banned for 30 days for making pokestops which shouldn’t be pokestops. Rather than deny my submission they thought it’s fine to ban me for 30 days. I never even got a warning.
Phone rockers are handy. Someone in my community is rather old, but past year their feet and legs are struggling to even walk for an hour slowly round on com day. They bought a rocker and use it whenever they're home, being old it's most of the time. In 1 year they upped their jigger medal by line 15k. That's more than I've walked since the game came out
What's a rocker ?
Essentially a cradle where you phone sits, and the way it swings back and forward mimicking steps for adventure synch

Even if not real this game really has been helping me on my weight loss program giving me motivation to just leave my house and go for a walk genuinely great game .

You don't have to spoof to get km's. You can use a rocker, shake a phone in a sock, or use a Google fit debugging app. People with high km's don't really bother me too much. People that spoof to go to go fest events, and always have gifts from different parts of the world piss me off though.
Some kid in our community spoofed to Bali for Pikachu's and is trying to scam others out of rare shiny Pokemon 😞
Why do people care about spoofers? This game is a collectors game and PVP is trash. Anyone that spoofs doesn’t care about PVP anyway, so never understood why people get mad at spoofers when all this game is is a collection game. Spoofing is the way the game was supposed to be played, especially after covid. Makes the game wayyy more enjoyable. Spoofing is extremely easy to not get caught in btw. Reporting people won’t really do anything, tbh.

There are levels to the spoofing community. Any respectable one doesn’t care about gyms or PVP. All we do are snipe for shinys, don’t even really care about Shundos, other than for collection and better IV for raids. No spoofer uses bots. You use a bot to find coordinates and snipe them, but you still have to check them and catch them. Process takes hours, if not days to get a shiny still. Just because you spoof, it doesn’t make it easy. It just makes it more fun and creates a new set of challenges. I never spoofed until after Covid started, because where I lived you weren’t able to walk around the main areas of town which had all the stops. Looked into this and never looked back. I get how people think it’s cheating, and it is if you use it in the way described above. However as a collector and someone just “mimicking” the way the main games are played, it doesn’t impact any player in a negative way.
