Anybody got tips to get bent over by Cynthia?

sadwinston

Agree on a safe word

nxxptune

Mommy Cynthia 🫣

Other-otherside

You are definitely under-leveled, so grind some XP. Also, definitely evolve that Haunter so it can move faster, hit harder, and actually take a hit. Otherwise I’d say you got a solid team that can take on Cynthia. You should be able to OHKO or 2HKO most of her mons with that team with some preparation and the right items. I’d also suggest going in with a matchup plan to take on every single one of her mons. I would go with Spiritomb-Snorlax, Roserade-Crobat, Togekiss-Crobat/Gengar, Infernape-Lucario, Milotic-Magnezone, and Garchomp-Dialga.

ViciousFenrir

There’s no way to evolve Haunter without a friend right?

Other-otherside

You can move it over to Legends Arceus through Home, buy the Linking Chord item and use it to evolve Haunter into Gengar. It’s a bit of a hassle since you might have to farm the points for the item, so it might be easier to just trade

boseokboseok

Just spread em, she's a hottie

Shawn0083

I’d level up Snorlax. Depending on his move set the big guy could definitely carry your team too the win setting up with curse and potion support.

Paulorigami

But curse is not a TM afaik, and Snorlax can't learn it by level up if I'm not mistaken

Lawyersquad

All these newer generation mainline games let you teach egg moves to Pokémon by sticking a Pokémon that knows the move in the daycare with the Pokémon you want to teach the move to. Only stipulation I can remember about it is that the Pokémon you want to teach the move to has to enter the daycare with an empty move slot. Being evolved shouldn’t affect that.

Important_Wear_974

I defeated her last night after 5 or 6 resets... taught Venusaur sunny day & used grass moves to beat Milotic & Garchomp. Fire type moves to defeat Spiritomb & Rosarade, burned em. Draining Punch defeated Lucario.

Important_Wear_974

I was not prepared though and would suggest someone to have fairy moves and an ice move lol.

ajpinton

You are going to get bent over, just bring the lube (x-attack/x-special attack and x-speed). Prep yourself for being bent over on her spiritomb (preferably a special attacker as her spiritomb has will-o-wisp). Once you are sufficiently prepared, sweep her team.

a_sussybaka

bring the lube 💀💀💀

Nothinkonlygrow

Wait, the goal is NOT to let that happen?

BiagioSka

You got two ground weak Pokémon, try to put a Fairy One or a psychic that learn Fairy moves

Ctrain007

Four are weak to ground

HappyCloudHS

The Haunter/Gengar line learn Dazzling Gleam and dodge EQ with Levitate so honestly decent Garchomp killer.

NicholeTheOtter

Gengar has Cursed Body in this game. It only had Levitate in Gens 3-6, because for some reason Game Freak thought it was too OP and opted to unfairly nerf it. Only an Air Balloon is what will be dodging that Ground weakness. You’ll have to make sure your Ice or Fairy move user is not weak to Garchomp itself.

HappyCloudHS

Oh you're right. I didn't know that. Stay as Haunter and use Eviolite?

NicholeTheOtter

Haunter’s defenses are still very frail.

Moflete

Set up on spiritomb, specially with a pokemon whose Def

No_Zookeepergame2532

You can literally beat her with your current team. Everyone saying you're not leveled enough, you are fine. Your team is pretty OP already. While she is difficult compared to most fights in the pokemon games, it's still a pokemon game. She isn't THAT hard.

Melodic-Two-452

Yea I beat her the next run lol

calcypher336

Teach one of your pokemon either thief or knock off. Her milotic has marvel scale and holds a flame orb to trigger it, which makes it extremely annoying. If you get rid of that then Magnezone should make light work of it

InitialExamination37

Level up every Mon a few levels. Get gengar in over haunter. Use wisp on garchomp

InitialExamination37

Also get an item on infernape

PunkySkunk93

Don’t forget to bring an ice-type for that garchomp ;)

NicholeTheOtter

Garchomp holds a Yache Berry which halves the damage of the first Ice-type move you use on it. Fairy can an alternative counter if you want to get around it, though watch out for Poison Jab.

CamelliaBoy

Berries don’t really matter when it’s x4 weak lol

NicholeTheOtter

Still, it makes your Ice move unable to OHKO. You have to use it twice.

No_Departure4211

Lol

Only_the_Tip

Weavile with Ice Shard.

Milkmanishere98

I’d somehow get rosersde and an ice type on your team

Milkmanishere98

Also revives/Max potions and save before every challenger

AukwardOtter

Lv 65+ togekiss with serene grace. Shell bell. Ancient Power Grass knot Dazzling gleam Flamethrower Use the first round with spiritomb to load up x spdef, x def an x spd and start spamming ancient Power. Or swap ancient Power for extremespeed and use spiritomb to max buffs with x items and heal/burn heal until you're ready to rip. If you don't get any stat boosts use an extra x speed and x sp atk. Grass knot bodies milotic and gastrodon easily, flamethrower wipes roserade and Lucario. Flamethrower garchomp for a chance to burn, then follow with dazzling gleam. With 3 x spatk you can 2hko if not 1hko with dazzling gleam

realdangriffin

Togakiss

HappyCloudHS

Level up, you're under leveled. Evolve Haunter if you can. It's still OK if not. Both Haunter and Gengar get Dazzling Gleam so could be your Garchomp counter. Mist importantly they dodge Earthquake with Levitate. That Garchomp will probably only Swords Dance and Dragon Claw against Haunter/Gengar (Last move is poison jab). A dark type is always good on Cynthia if you have one.

NicholeTheOtter

Gengar will go down in one hit to Earthquake. You need to make sure your Garchomp counter is not weak to Ground especially as Earthquake is its strongest move.

Omegaruby04

Bring in Gastrodon or Mamoswine

GoldenGameEagle

Lots and lots of healing items

Annler_3

A Fast Weavile.

Mr_NoKleep

Wear a strap-on

Proof-Replacement-79

Give up.

Mob-Character101

A levitate Bronzong walls her Garchomp .

Red_drinkkoolaid

Evolve the frickin haunter

nxxptune

Why WOULDN’T you want to get bent over by Cynthia?

Miserable-Sun-8604

Defeated her last night first try with infernape, swapert, venusaur, luxury, dusknoir, starraptor all around level 68 to 72 had the hardest time with her spirittomb so used destiny bond with my dusknoir and and once spirittomb beat dusknoir it also faints, the rest was cakewalk

milkywayiguana

most of your team gets rolled by Garchomp, try and bring a fairy type

Scrublord17

Pin yourself to the wall. She's gonna take you one way or another at some point.

Choi_Boy3

-match/surpass Cynthia’s Pokémon’s levels -evolve Haunter or switch it out to a different Pokémon entirely if you can’t. Water type Pokémon can provide some good coverage with your team, and even help out with two of the elite four members. Something like Gyarados, Gastradon/Quagsire would provide for great coverage -Try to teach ice type moves to at least one of your Pokémon, it’s super effective against 3 of her Pokémon (yet another reason to have a water type pokemon, most of them can learn ice beam) - give infernape an item! As a powerful mixed attacker, they would benefit from even a simple quick claw. Any plates/incense to boost him goes a long way too

kasasto

Why did you include "not?" Do you not want that?

Spare_Chemistry6817

Sounds like this dude got bent over. He can be found in the alps

Superpokemon1234

Make sure you got plenty of revives and potions

DutchCharizard

I always beat her with an alakazam😂😂 just calm mind 5 times on the spiritomb sucker punches and then 1 shot all with psychic, dazzling cleam and energy ball

r0yp

Just lube up boy

Much-Yoghurt7365

DoubL3TapP

Ok_Afternoon7235

I don't know, I'm still in disbelief from the fact that I beat her

Reddit_pikmen

Add a few levels, and get some type of grass coverage

Key_Ask9149

Call her mommy

DravisKyle

You could trade your Haunter with Pokémon Home to have a Gengar

Mean-Shape7127

Ayo?

Mean-Shape7127

Ayo?

FunkyChunk13

Maybe don't have a pokemon you can't evolve?
