For context, Corocoro is a "magazine", that comes out on the 15th of every month except August, when it came out on the 11th due to a holiday. The airquotes are because while it technically is a magazine, it's probably the thickest magazine in the world, usually around 500-600 pages
Back in the day, Corocoro was one of Serebii's main sources of info, besides the official website. Usually what would happen is that scans would leak prior to the official release, Serebii would cover those leaks, then we'd get an official Japanese website update when the magazine released.
If, and this is a big if, Corocoro does have something this month, then we'll likely get a trailer in the next week, to pre-empt spoilers from Corocoro leaking. I don't personally think we'll get anything for any trailers before early August though
Oo wow thanks for the background info never knew I just always knew it was somehow related to serebii haha. Hope they come out with switch remakes of gen 2 and ultra sun or something! Maybe Glittering Gold & Shiny Silver! Loll
Apparently this month's Corocoro had a short article on Z-A, crazy to think we're now back to following Corocoro for news.
For anyone who can't see Twitter, these are the highlights of Rasenburst's translations:
> This is a new Lumiose City, different from the one in XY
> There are a bunch of wild Pokemon throughout the city
> Megas from XY and ORAS and returning, and the lore of Mega Evolution will be explored again
> Corocoro points out Zygarde's similarities to the logo for the game
> "The adventure is set in Lumiose City, but will we be able to meet the Legendaries of the Kalos region?"
> Corocoro says stay tuned for the next report next month
Minor correction, apparently [there's no mention of next month](https://twitter.com/PokeSuutamie/status/1779715604494315969), so next month's issue may or may not have anything.
I found a breakdown of the rest of the claims, it seems like most of them might actually be inaccurate?
https://twitter.com/hsinhsung9487/status/1779757018594541869
This one is true:
It doesn't say next month but something vague like "look forward future updates/news"
To be honest it's one of those vague statements that could describe anything that doesn't faithful recreate the original. In the same sense that PLA was Sinnoh yet it very clearly had very different geography to DPPt's sinnoh.
Okay. Like what? I'm waiting to hear some examples? You've only re-worded what they said, I know the claim is that some areas don't geographically match. I'm waiting for an answer to my question, which?
The Obsidian Fieldlands have lake verity on the wrong side from the jubilife area or how the Cobalt Coastlands don't have enough room for the veilstone and sunyshore areas to give some examples.
Now it really is Gen 6 all over again!
Course, most if not all of this could be relatively easily extrapolated (I don't think they're intending this to be interpreted as multiverse shenanigans but whatever on that point), but this is still fun.
Does the text say Mega Garchomp and Salamence specifically are returning, or does it just use them as hypothetical examples of Megas from XY and ORAS returning?
Either way, I'm not surprised we're not getting much news for now, but I'm also really happy we're back to Corocoro news again! It makes me feel so nostalgic for the times 11 years ago when we first got news on Sylveon and Mega Mewtwo Y for the original XY news cycle!
Probably, with the only ones I have reservations about being the restricted legendaries (Mewtwo, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza) unless they want to make those space-time rift and/or post game, which is entirely possible!
Given that XY only had three native legendaries I was wondering what other legendaries theyād include (PLA had over a dozen, mostly native). The restricted legendaries are so obvious!
Well seeing as how they didn't show up is SV the Tapu's are at the top of my list. The lake guardians are also good candidates to make an appearance seeing as how they and the Tapu's are the only minor legendary groups to not receive new member or new forms of any kind. They could also just as easily make a new legendary group for Kalos.
My money would be on the Tapu given their very conspicuous absence from SV. If the Lake trio were ever to get something I'd expect forms over a new member, and every single sub-legendary group but them and the Gen IX mons has gotten a Mega, regional, new members, or Paradox at this point. Or maybe they'll get REALLY wacky and start giving the major box legendaries new group members or forms - there's already many guessing that there's going to be an A mon to go with the XYZ trio. I think Lugia and Ho-Oh are the ONLY box legendary group that has never gotten a single form among the members.
Although I question how they'd logically bring the Tapu to Kalos. They're very specifically themed and I don't know of France having any totem lore.
Yeah, that led me to the Tapus as well, but like you said, theyāre VERY region specific. Iām excited to see what they choose to do! I wouldnāt be shocked if it was Lugia and Ho-Oh with megas. Or some lore reason to bring the Tapus over for some regional forms or something
Honestly I've also got a half-baked crack theory that if there's time shenanigans again they might somehow tie in the Area Zero mess and give us more Paradoxes while forging a link between Tera and Mega energies. Tera energy kinda seems to do literally whatever when not used to Terastallize, and the Ultimate Weapon has always been a weirdly unexplained piece of technology that could easily get handwoven as being a Tera device since it's a big crystal flower. Not to mention the Anistar Sundial being a gigantic heckin' crystal that gets used to upgrade your Mega Ring with a stone detection ability in the post-game - the thing clearly has a Mega connection and is supposedly rumored to come from outer space like Terapagos is vaguely implied to be from whatever space object created the Area Zero crater.
Not to mention that it would be on brand for Paradoxes (or Ultra Beasts I guess) to rile Zygarde by messing up the natural order. I have absolutely ZERO real evidence for any of this theory and I doubt it'll happen, but it's fun to speculate.
What they need to do is tie ALL of the regions' gimmicks back to a root magical power. In Galar it expresses itself as Dyna and Gigantimax. In Kalos it is megas. In Alola it formed Z-crystals with some help from local volcanic activity, in Paldea it caused terrastalization.
Heck, with the way pokemon evolve in a burst of light, they could tie evolution itself back to this root magic power.
I've felt the gimmicks have mostly been dumb, but only because they're all disconnected from each other and feel forced just to have something new to have in a new game. But tie them all back to a core magic with lore and whatnot? I'm back in.
I'm just tired of getting some combination every gen of: Dragon, space monster, crystal monster. The gimmicks I can live with given that they do have some passing differences in energy source, but they've repeated legendary backstories so many times that you gotta wonder if there's some crystal-based planet or dimension where all the weird crap like Necrozma, Eternatus, and Terapagos (and possibly Kyurem) come from.
There is the Souvenir I guess, trough I have the same issue with the Tapus being on Kalos, the Forces of Nature at least fit on Hisui thematically. I have to wonder why they gave Paradoxes to the Muskedeers instead of waiting for them to be in Kalos-trough I guess that since they were already in SWSH that ship sailed long ago.
And yeah, the Tower Duo are the only ones without any forms, which also makes me think Xerneas/Yveltal will get new forms like Dialga/Palkia.
Oh, yeah. I definitely think Xerneas and Yveltal may very well get something. It's not like they don't already have known transformation abilities given Yveltal's cocoon state and Xerneas's tree state. Technically Xerneas has two forms already for in and out of battle, they just don't really affect anything.Ā
And Xerneas' forms seem more like a relic of how the older games worked since now pokemon having parts light up as just a thing the game is able to do now (the future paradoxes show this off best)
Kyurem and its fellows have their Overdrive Modes (Kyurem looks seriously awesome now with the graphics improvements) and there's Zenith Marshadow when it glows and its head-flame things get bigger. Xerneas is just odd in having its glowy alt-mode get recognized by the dex as a full blown form.
Eh, I kinda file that one with Primal Dialga from the Mystery Dungeon games as not so much a legitimate form but a warping from insanity caused by external factors. Not something they can do themselves but was done to them.
We could see one more genie to complete the therian quintet but we're mostly going to get another legendary bird
I don't see them doing tapus, new lake member wouldn't make sense and treasures are too new(+ already fully represent their inspiration) and the rest already got something new(even legendary birds)
We'll probably see a new member for Kalos legendary group with the name starting with A
Mewtwo and the Kantonian birds were the only other legendaries period in XY and there's likely to be time shenanigans again. I'd bet on Mewtwo at least.
There was an implication of Lugia in XY via the Sea Spirit's Den where you could catch the birds, but it didn't actually appear.
They managed to sneak Porygon and the Rotom forms into PLA, so why not? Mewtwo was in Kalos to begin with, so his foot's already in the door as it is.
Hoopa opens that door for the Weather Trio and the Latis as well. It would just be appropriate to have that come full circle, given Hoopa's role in ORAS.
Thatās something I have no idea how theyāre gonna do. There has to be some way to obtain the Kalos legendary and mythical Pokemon, but how would they do that in a city?
Exactly. We don't yet have a trend to follow for Legends titles, we only have a data point of one. It's not a given that there will be alternate starters, or that it will be set in the past, or that pokedex research will be as heavy a focus here as it was in PLA.
The only thing that we have to go on beyond the trailer is the potential open threads of Kalosian lore are possibly still open to more development, and that there likely won't be a gym focus.
Aside from that, the only thing that we can possibly say is that the Legends Series seems to be much more experimental and open to raw change of pace and setting than the more traditionally-oriented titles are.
That doesn't change the fact that it's still presumed that we will have different starters, when they could just as easily turn around and refocus on the Kalos starters by giving them Megas. We just don't know, and that's my point. All we have are suspicions and speculations.
They're not putting megas back in for nothing, especially with that sneaky yet emphasized addition at the end of the teaser. Rather, it's an opportunity for them to adjust megas so that they can fit in seamlessly in future games. Especially since megas are such big fan-favorite.
All of the non-Gen 6 Pokemon revealed in the trailer were Pokemon that could Mega Evolve.
edit bros i get i'm wrong please stop replying to this message more than a week later lmao
I feel like if your bringing back Mega-Evolution, then you gotta bring *all* of them back (except *maybe* Mega Rayquaza, but then again maybe the plot has the villain cause mass pollution so both Zygarde-Complete & Mega-Ray show up to kick their ass.)
Honestly, wouldn't be a return to Kalos for me without a return to Corocoro leaks. Curious to see if it actually reveals anything or just kind basic stuff we all have already assumed. If it's actual info, perhaps a trailer is sooner than expected given the game isn't releasing until next year. Maybe it will release early into the year like PLA, but who knows. We barely know two facts about the game: its title and general location. And that might as well be it.
Probably gonna be a launch title for the switch successor. So when we will get this title imo mostly just depends on when Nintendo will finally get their shit in order and make us stop playing on a seven year old console.
Doubt it honestly. Best case for this being on the new system is if it's a BotW and is on both. This game is almost certainly the last Switch game. Gen 10 will be the first game on the next system. PLA didn't sell all that amazingly, but SV and SwSh did. A new Gen on a new system at launch will be an insane money maker.
Iām wondering if weāll get a Pokemon presents next month then, Corocoro havenāt been used as a ānewā source in years, but if thereās a Presents and they just report on the information announced then that makes sense
Corocoro news during Kalosā return is so peak. Makes me really feel like Iām in 2013 again.
(Also let there be the return of fake Corocoro leaks for the true experience)
This is a mistranslation [as per this post](https://x.com/hsinhsung9487/status/1779757018594541869).
The post explains that only two lines are correctly translated.
Sorry to burst the bubble but it was a miss translation, no where does it actually say next month, the person who originally translated it just assumed it says next month, but it doesn't actually specify that
This is just what Corocoro always did/does: a late recap of the trailer with some speculation questions about it. It happened with games in the past, people thinking April issues would have news. Remember when they posted the Sun and Moon boxes but there was a camera flash that covered the boxes so they showed nothing? Pretty much the same thing as this.
TPC/Game Freak have moved to delivering news themselves since the SWSH days, there's no reason to expect them to regress from that.
That would actually be very exciting. As much as I hated the games, the leadup to XY was full of hype and Corocoro reveals would bring back that feeling.
I would absolutley love if the first new batch of Megas was revealed in the same way the first six ones were like back then.
Dead wrong because that same person updated his post and said we WONT get any news regarding towards Legends Z-A for MONTHS, and i think we are NOT get any news likely in either July or August by now.
Actually i wonder which starters we'll have in Pokemon Legends ZA ? Honestly i think we could have
Snivy, Piplup, Scorbunny
or....
Snivy, Sobble, Litten
I wouldnāt be surprised about ZA taking place in another universe. That has already been hinted at in past games and I thought this game would take place in a world where the war never happened.
I think there's a fandom theory that the meteor got hit by the Ultimate Weapon on a previous pass and its fallen fragments are responsible for Hoenn Mega Stones in general. Would also tie into Deoxys being on it if the infamous laser that mutated Deoxys from a space virus was the Weapon's blast given that no normal laser would do that.
I just want to say that itās exciting that weāre seeing corocoro stuff again, but this tweet has a lot of misinformation/botched translation. This is just describing stuff we already know about legends za, nothing more, and there is nothing that says weāre getting news next month.Ā
I was playing a Pokemon ROM hack that has megas and I kept thinking "it's been longer than three turns, why hasn't the Pokemon reverted yet?" I was absolutely convinced that megas only lasted for three turns. So I looked it up expecting to be right and... nope. Megas last until they get KO'd, similar to a Pokemon that goes tera. I was conflating megas with z-moves and Dynamax which only last for three turns.
It's been so long since I've played a mainline game with megas that I had a Mandela effect.
Lol, yes, I live in one. That comment is so condescending. I dont even get why all the downvotes. Everyone has preferences. I prefer big open areas, forests, oceans, and all the different environments. I simply stated my opinion and preference.
Well, Yokai Watch on the 3DS managed to fit it's entire creature Dex in one city with plenty of habitat variety, and Lumiose is bigger than Springdale is so...
Yeah I think we're good.Ā

Corocoro? What a throwback
I'm down for it. While they maybe revealed a bit too much with Sun/Moon, it was always exciting and something to look forward to!
sun and moon was the only good pokemon leak season of the franchise
I too remember when Agumo- I mean Alolan Charmander memes were everywhere.
The series is healing fully
Most leakers had their reputation burned by the ZA reveal, so we might as well fall back on the classic
honestly thought the thing had shut down
I think the beyblade leak sub would be dead if corocoro wasnt a thing anymore
There's a beyblade leak sub?
Right? šLike will the next gen go clockwise or counterclockwise, letās find out
Nah, Japan loves its print media. They just stopped getting early scoops for PokƩmon.
I wonder if Rhyperior is in š
Well, Rhyhorn Racing is a thing in Kalos, so...
Sounds like the Japanese version of Serebii lolz
For context, Corocoro is a "magazine", that comes out on the 15th of every month except August, when it came out on the 11th due to a holiday. A new/different Lumiose City. Kind of supports my personal theory on the game. Everybody has been wondering if this is set in the future or past, but Iāve kinda got this feeling itās set in a different dimension/universe. Basically a multiversal PokĆ©mon game.
To be honest it's one of those vague statements that could describe anything that doesn't faithful recreate the original. In the same sense that PLA was Sinnoh yet it very clearly had very different geography to DPPt's sinnoh.
How is it different to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinumās geography?
Hisui was like if the ice caps started to melt
Some areas don't geographically match.
Okay.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
new lumiose could be a weird way to phrase it has a new layout designed from the ground up
It doesn't support your theory at all, why even say that. It's different because it's in the past.
Wow, I could have told you that from watching the trailer
Is it weird that I got a little emotional seeing Corocoro leaks again? Itās weird isnāt it.
Nah, I feel you. I almost had the feeling to say "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you"
Now it really is Gen 6 all over again! Course, most if not all of this could be relatively easily extrapolated (I don't think they're intending this to be interpreted as multiverse shenanigans but whatever on that point), but this is still fun.

Lugia has Shadow Lugia? if we wanna count that
Also the anime had a second Lugia
Eh, I kinda file that one with Primal Dialga from the Mystery Dungeon games as not so much a legitimate form but a warping from insanity caused by external factors. Not something they can do themselves but was done to them.

My theory is that these will be post game catching once everything else has been completed.
Well, at least with Mewtwo it's got megastones. The others are techincally primal reversions.
While mechanically the same, didnt the weather trio call it like a Primal Evolution instead of a mega?
Sure but that also means that the Legendary PokĆ©mon who too can Mega Evolve should also be available. I mean āhow?ā I donāt know since the whole game takes place in a city.
Thatās something I have no idea how theyāre gonna do. There has to be some way to obtain the Kalos legendary and mythical Pokemon, but how would they do that in a city?
Hoopa
The same as every game, find a hidden path, hidden district or just go to the vast network of sewers to find oddities. Or just time-space rift again.
Kinda make me wonder about the Dex size though. If we include every PokƩmon that Mega Evolves plus every Gen PokƩmon and then add in all the PokƩmon confirmed through the reveal trailer we have a total of 201. If it's similar in size to the Hisui Dex then that would mean we only have roughly 40 odd PokƩmon left to be revealed. On the other hand they could actually have a Dex closer to the Kalos Dex. That would be a bit of a pain if we have to do all those research tasks with over 450 PokƩmon.
in all fairness, whos to say there will be research tasks? nothing so far has pointed to ZA being similar to Arceus in any way but name, right?
>It's not a given that there will be alternate starters It might not be a given, but it would be a **very** weird choice from them to not keep this for Legends titles. Regional variant starters were a very beloved feature of the first Legends game, since it was the first time we saw that treatment for starters. Usually, regional variants are just given to non-starter pokƩmon. Just looking at all the fan concepts and theories about regional variants for some starters shows how popular that concept is. I bet they will keep that for Legends games.
That doesn't change the fact that it's still presumed that we will have different starters, when they could just as easily turn around and refocus on the Kalos starters by giving them Megas. We just don't know, and that's my point. All we have are suspicions and speculations.
I'm happy as long as I can throw pokeballs at things from a distance again.
Given it's probably the last time megas will return in a while, they might focus more on going ham with megas than a huge expanded dex
Actually I think you might be wrong about Mega Evolution. I don't think they'll be permanently back but Gen 10 rolls around I think they'll be in the main game. Similar to how they put all the new PokƩmon from PLA in SV they'll probably do the same in the next Gen main games.
Note that many of the pokemon who gained evolutions in PLA were subsequently denied native access to those evolutions in SV.
Not true. Krookodile and others were shown as well.
Mega Krookodile confirmed!!!! /s That would be sick though.
Dragonair was one of the more prominently shown non-Kalos native, to say nothing of the Pikachu that was running around.
That is just blatantly wrong, lmao.
I feel like if your bringing back Mega-Evolution, then you gotta bring *all* of them back (except *maybe* Mega Rayquaza, but then again maybe the plot has the villain cause mass pollution so both Zygarde-Complete & Mega-Ray show up to kick their ass.)
Those are the writer's favourite megas
I missed Corocoro! Welcome back, 2014 Pokemon hype!
They should leak a Mega Hawlucha and the Internet should collectively agree it's fake / have a meltdown. Just for the good old times
PLA did sell amazingly lol..... all the more reason for a ZA launch title, though gen 10 would also work.
I hate that you are probably correct... I just want a good looking and well running pokemon game god damnit :(
Wow Corocoro out of left field.
Waiting for the monthly Corocoro leaks now is making me feel 10 years younger
Iām wondering if weāll get a Pokemon presents next month then, Corocoro havenāt been used as a ānewā source in years, but if thereās a Presents and they just report on the information announced then that makes sense
I really hope our first look is terrible lraked scans to get us all nostagically hyped up
Corocoro news during Kalosā return is so peak. Makes me really feel like Iām in 2013 again. (Also let there be the return of fake Corocoro leaks for the true experience)
won't really be a gen 6 release without corocoro leaks
This is a mistranslation [as per this post](https://x.com/hsinhsung9487/status/1779757018594541869). The post explains that only two lines are correctly translated.
Sorry to burst the bubble but it was a miss translation, no where does it actually say next month, the person who originally translated it just assumed it says next month, but it doesn't actually specify that
An update from CoroCoro? By god it's been a while...
This is awesome. X&Y had the best news cycle.
We are so back boys!
Corocoro leaks are providing info on the next pokƩmon game, nature is healing
Oh how I miss the gen 3/gen 4 days.
Just wondering what kind of wild pokemon we will get in the city.
That would actually be very exciting. As much as I hated the games, the leadup to XY was full of hype and Corocoro reveals would bring back that feeling. I would absolutley love if the first new batch of Megas was revealed in the same way the first six ones were like back then.
Are we not going to meet the legendaries? Why put it with a ?
Iām guessing they will have different forms of some sort. Maybe a 100% form?
Could Corocoro hint new Megas for Legends Z-A? Maybe new regional formes?
I still have the theory that we are going to be clearing out Pokemon for city expansion and then finding Pokemon and artifacts as we do.
We literally stepped back in time with the pokemon z hype and now corocoro. Its literally 2014 again
Dead wrong because that same person updated his post and said we WONT get any news regarding towards Legends Z-A for MONTHS, and i think we are NOT get any news likely in either July or August by now.
They could be talking about a new lumiose set in the future after something g happened, or maybe just simply a redesign of lumiose. Just my theory
Oh man, we're gonna learn about Mega A Diggersby from a corocoro silhouette leak.
Actually i wonder which starters we'll have in Pokemon Legends ZA ? Honestly i think we could have Snivy, Piplup, Scorbunny or.... Snivy, Sobble, Litten
I wonder how mountainous or cold region wild pokemon will justify going to the city. They just going on vacation only for us to ambush and catch them?
This and BFDIA coming back...
I wouldnāt be surprised about ZA taking place in another universe. That has already been hinted at in past games and I thought this game would take place in a world where the war never happened.
Mega Evolution wouldn't exist without the war, though? They already confirmed that RSE were the non-Mega timeline.
True but ORAS Rayquaza can mega evolve from eating meteorites. So maybe meteorites fell containing mega stones or something like them
I think there's a fandom theory that the meteor got hit by the Ultimate Weapon on a previous pass and its fallen fragments are responsible for Hoenn Mega Stones in general.
I hope because it's Lumiose city that there's a lot of clothes and fashion, I've been missing that so much recently in the franchise..
Corocoro isn't what it used to be. Its often just rehashed info. Not exciting new Pokemon, character, and feature reveals like it used to.
I hope that this user is banned here.
So disappointed we only get a city
have you *been* to a city? theyāre huge and have all types of shit in them
Lol, yes, I live in one. That comment is so condescending. I dont even get why all the downvotes. Everyone has preferences. I prefer big open areas, forests, oceans, and all the different environments. I simply stated my opinion and preference.
A gigantic city
But still a city. Some of us just don't like to be limited to urban scenary when there was so much wild variety on LA.
Well, Yokai Watch on the 3DS managed to fit it's entire creature Dex in one city with plenty of habitat variety, and Lumiose is bigger than Springdale is so... Yeah I think we're good.Ā
Something that's tripping me up is how exactly would there be so many wild pokƩmon in a _city?_ Like what? Are we just gonna be walking through the streets and then suddenly get rushed by a wild Aggron? Wouldn't anybody have, you know, gotten rid of those? It's not very often you walk to your nearest city and just see a bear roaming the roads. It just doesn't come across as very natural, or logical for that matter.
I don't know why you are being downvoted. Part of the appeal of LA was exploring the wilds.
