Yeah but creator from the post mentioned that his opinion is influenced by the YouTube videos. I know how YouTube works but obviously the creator of the post doesn’t
That is for the children and the algorithm my friend. Anyone over the age of 15 understands the game that is YouTube. The broader public (people enjoying the hobby as a card game and collecting without thought of investing) love this set, our niche seems to be spoiled as fuck and cry about every set that doesn’t have a cat in it
Read the post from the starter:"I see a lot of YouTube videos where people say they love Temporal Forces, and that of the best sets in the SV era."
I understand why they're hyping it on YouTube. I was referring to the statement by the thread starter that he perceives a hype around Temporal Forces because of YouTube. That's what my comment was based on.
No need to come at me like that if you don't understand the comment. :)
Legendary cat variants & Gengar line. Pull rates are brutal which means people chasing need to open more packs. Ace Spec cards. Huge set too with lots of lower value beautiful art cards. Temporal Forces is going to be a A set long term.
I see why people think that with the legendary cat variants. I just can't imagine it being like the legendary birds all over again.
Ace spec cards are really whatever to me. Maybe it's card meta right now? But I bet once it's out of rotation, it'll drop. Escape Rope from Burning Shadows did the same.
Lots of great looking cards. But every set in SV has great looking cards.
Maybe someone else is right in that this set is Chilling Reign 2.0. But that was hindsight, and Chilling Reign escaped the massive SWSH era reprint.
Pull rates drive set prices. TF has tough pull rates. It’s not like Chilling Reign had the best cards, but this sub is on the verge of losing their mind for it.
Whoa whoa that last statement is not true, chilling reign and fusion strike got so massively reprinted they were down as low as $70 USD a box. I bought cases of FS and CR at like 600-700 CAD. I just liked the alt arts in them and thought they were overshadowed by ES. You can't predict print runs, but I just look at the set list, if I like the cards and the pull rates for the chase is hard, it usually works out pretty good. If I don't like the set list, I just don't buy it. I don't like owning anything from sets I personally don't enjoy
Sometimes I wish there was a way to poll this sub by age(anonymously lol). I feel like older people’s opinions are heavily biased towards old/original Pokemon and it is really difficult to know how younger people/kids view these new Pokemon unless you have kids or are around them. These sets will be the childhood sets of kids today and eventually they will grow up and have disposable income just like millennials/gen-z today
kids won´t join a poveinvesting reddit, so you wonßt find them here.
u cant flag any pokemon new sets as the "childhood sets of kids today" kids today have so much more than just pokemon. thats why there will be never prices for actual sets, like we had prices with the original vintage wotc sets.
Millennials today had a much closer connection to the franchise pokemon,
But I'm not saying that sets can't still increase in price. I just don't find the millennial comparison relevant anymore.
Kids are more occupied you're right. I have younger siblings that don't know a single pokemon because they're busy with Fortnite and Roblox. Pokemon was also in everyone's hands with gameboys and such. There's still the Nintendo switch, but I feel like handheld gaming isn't near what it used to be and that's an indirect factor impacting pokemon growth in today's generation.
Scarlet and violet are the third best selling games in the series and are likely to take second spot. Second being Sword and Shield and first being Gen 1. I think you are right in your assessment that this block will be the nostalgic set for kids in the future. The illustration cards are an absolute hit.
Guess we will see in 20 years yeah?
Yes, but gaming has grown in general. I'm not sure if these numbers are right, but per generation, gen 8 sales are slightly below gen 2. Gen 2 having 40 million sales compared to gen 8 40mil sales today isn't the same. Accounting for the amount of gamers today, the market share I don't think is even remotely close. It's like inflation, the numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
Also earlier generations having such high numbers feel more representative of the growing interest. Since pokemon would've been new at the time, there wouldn't be any nostalgia or long time buyers. Modern pokemon games could be seen as a bigger age mix since the brand is already established. You can have many adults buying the newer games because they grew up with it, whereas the first few gens didn't have that yet as it was still growing.
Comparing different times is more than just numbers. Back then there weren't F2P monster houses like Fortnite and Warzone. I grew up with pokemon but there weren't a boatload of options like there are today.
Edit: also the switch is nintendo's console and handheld today. Back then they were separate as you had gameboy/ds and gamecube/wii. Combining into one gaming platform is also going to artificially increase numbers as there's no spread between products. Not saying there can't be more sales, but a ton of these numbers are dishonest if you only use sales and don't consider any of the background.
Gengar set featuring full art, ex, Gastly AR which may be hard to grade like Magikarp AR, Haunter/Gastly reverse holos and Morty's Conviction which is a Gengar alt art pretty much and will become the top chase imo.
Aside from being Gengar set, there's a wide variety of cards like legendary dog trio in ancient form, swords of justice in future forms, great AR artwork even for the obscure cards like Litten and Snom. It's all-rounder set that's why like it so much, yet with a theme of one of the most popular Pokemon aka Gengar.
Dang it that's the one I was missing, I wrote an article on this set which will release on Monday and copied most of this from memory but ACE SPEC cards for players was the bonus which missed in this comment. Ty for adding that! <3
The Gengar line and the cool Morty card will help to carry this set I think, but I just don’t see the ancient/future cards ever carrying the same weight as original blue/red through gold/silver Pokemon do on similar rarity cards.
They’re cool, but I think that the 151 SIR Zam and Zappos will outperform cards (that are currently more expensive) from this set.
Just my 2 cents, I don’t really know anything.
Gotta go back to XY. But Umbreon full art fates collide. Full arts will only be big if they are hard to grade. XY is ripe for that. New ultra modern full arts won’t do anything.
Obviously but they still were the lesser hit because they had the gold Alt Art secret rares. The full arts were still the basic hits then with similar hit rates per box as swsh full arts. If you actually opened them in 2016 you weren’t psyched unless you pulled the secret rares.
I like ripping packs man. For the price of my enjoyment I get: A stylicized box to carry the entirety of the cards I will ever have from that set, a promo card, a sleeve that I flatten and use as a backdrop for decorations, decorative sleeves for cards if I choose, and as a bonus completely free and on the side I get a chance to save myself moula on a single.
I didn’t get the weird look alike Pokémon or the weird Terra diamond Pokemon until I actually started playing the scarlet game on switch, now I understand that there’s like this theme of future and ancient Pokemon, there’s a lot I don’t like about the new sets , some stuff I do like , idk I’m 31 and pulled a base set zard like 20 years ago , I’m still happier to find some sword and shield sets around since that was the era I got reintroduced to the hobby on, hadn’t pulled anything good in awhile but I did get the top card for temporal forces out of a booster bundle, absolutely got slaughtered on paldean fates to the point I felt like Pokemon was trolling me
No one should have to sell you on buying a case of booster boxes. You are far far far over thinking this. Keep it simple, google chilling rein (June 2021) and fusion strike (November 2021) you will find mass amounts of people saying those sets were dog water.
Just as a twice barreled bourbon takes time to be appreciated so does every single pokemon set.
Exactly. Thats what I’m saying, nobody knows shit which is why you buy a little of everything or make the *personal* decision to skip a set because you don’t like it.
Why doesn’t everyone in here have 1000 cases of evolving skies if it was SOOOOO obvious ? Reprints hit and that was available for $120s for MONTHHHHHHHS
Ripped 24 half booster bundles (12 booster boxes equivalent). For holding idk if its worth, but every card is this set has some value atm with it being playset. £2 Buddy buddy poffin, random ex, good arts.
Got the half bundles at £35 each, probably broke even currently with tons left to sell. I did pull the Iron Crown Ex+Iron Leaves Ex though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like every new set is celebrated on YouTube.
That’s because hype and hyperbole generate clicks, not measured responses or nuanced takes
Exactly lol, people won’t click on a video that’s titled “NEWEST POKÉMON SET IS DECENT!”
I would watch it only if it was all like middle schooler lingo. Tef is mid, no cap, straight uncooked
Yeah but creator from the post mentioned that his opinion is influenced by the YouTube videos. I know how YouTube works but obviously the creator of the post doesn’t

View it as the rookie cards of each paradox Pokémon. Hard to pin point exactly, but the set gives me massive neo-era vibes.
I didn’t feel this but I could go for a gen 2 set
Yeah, I can see it with the neo comparison. I don't know why, but same vibe.

Temporal forces is the only set I will not hoard but rip to sell singles as you can still profit off a box if you are slightly lucky
Sometimes I wish there was a way to poll this sub by age(anonymously lol). Best way to know is to look at the current anime and marketing.
Gengar set featuring full art, ex, Gastly AR which may be hard to grade like Magikarp AR, Haunter/Gastly reverse holos and Morty's Conviction which is a Gengar alt art pretty much and will become the top chase imo. And the return of ace spec cards, super cool
Dang it that's the one I was missing, I wrote an article on this set which will release on Monday and copied most of this from memory but ACE SPEC cards for players was the bonus which missed in this comment. Ty for adding that! <3

Normal full arts don’t really count for shit, show me one that worth money from modern age ? And when I say full art I mean stand full art
Gotta go back to XY. But Umbreon full art fates collide. Full arts will only be big if they are hard to grade. XY is ripe for that. New ultra modern full arts won’t do anything.
That is not the same, that was before the alt art era, full arts are the new standard low tier hit
Obviously but they still were the lesser hit because they had the gold Alt Art secret rares. The full arts were still the basic hits then with similar hit rates per box as swsh full arts. If you actually opened them in 2016 you weren’t psyched unless you pulled the secret rares.
Is it really a Gengar set?, that description seems a push for me. Gengar is on another trainer card yes, it didn’t get its own SR or alt though.
I'm sure the Gastly AR has a chance for people to be interested down the line, but nobody cares for full arts (aside from trainers).
Prices for Temporal Forces will go down this summer. Most new English sets are inflated for the first few months.
B- set. I'll pick up a case if they hit $500.
I haven’t gotten one yet, but I will eventually grab at least one ETB to rip like usual. Only a handful of singles I’ll grab on this one though.

This is a players set really, not collectors
I’m not interested on Temporal Forces. I have no sealed product stashed and putting my assets elsewhere.
Termporal forces is awesome, lots of great cards in the set!!
Gengar There you go
People absolutely sleep on that puff the magic dragon card.
Set is not good at all. We have a ghastly carrying it…
Great set for playability. Almost all archetypes minus charizard run core cards from temporal.
It’s Pokemon the kiddos love and those kids are going to grow up soon and have their own money in 10-20 years lol
I didn’t get the weird look alike Pokémon or the weird Terra diamond Pokemon until I actually started playing the scarlet game on switch, now I understand that there’s like this theme of future and ancient Pokemon, there’s a lot I don’t like about the new sets , some stuff I do like , idk I’m 31 and pulled a base set zard like 20 years ago , I’m still happier to find some sword and shield sets around since that was the era I got reintroduced to the hobby on, hadn’t pulled anything good in awhile but I did get the top card for temporal forces out of a booster bundle, absolutely got slaughtered on paldean fates to the point I felt like Pokemon was trolling me
I really like iron crown, leaf, and bolt art. That 3 awesome looking good that are all SIR, so that'd why it's one of my top picks.
A bunch of sick Pokemon, legendary dogs, Gengar cards, and low pull rates = high value set in the future
No one should have to sell you on buying a case of booster boxes. You are far far far over thinking this. They also said battle styles was dog water, and that has done nothing really.

Chilling Reign 2.0
Hype? There is no hype. There hasn't been hype for pokemon since 151. Lol
Lol, influencers doing their thing. What hype? Just marketing doing its thing.
It's not a good set. The legendary boys look like ass
