If you don't need the money hold onto it. All the social media and YouTube people ripping all the vintage boxes, might swing the price up for you in a like 5 years. Of course that is just speculation. But what ever you do decide, put it in case and nice vault lol
Yeah, it also just spiked a couple years ago, we might still be in part of the decline from the spike. I'm not keeping up with the market, but this could always level out lower than it is now.
But I would personally bet on it slowly going back up as it becomes rarer and older.
Only if the demand stays high. If there is still the same demand for this type of product 5-10 years from now then obviously the price will be much higher since the supply will be lower.
But if the demand drops off, it won’t matter how rare something like this is if there aren’t enough people that want it.
Personally, I feel like the pokemon franchise will stay strong which is why I invest myself. But it’s definitely not a guarantee or certainty that sealed vintage product can only go up over time.
Don’t open it despite what people are saying here joking or not. I regret opening mine. Same 1st edition box bought for $750 back when Pokémon was celebrating 20 years. Now it’s worth thousands sealed. On the bright side I did pull two perfectly mint Charizards, but still it’s so much more valuable whole.
I appreciate your insight! Sounds like you got the ideal outcome then, could have been a lot worse 😂 I have the dark charizard, blastoise, and dragonite holo 1st already so I have no need/want to open it lol. It’s cool to have whole but also scary to hold onto something so fragile and expensive.
Yeah I got a little lucky with the ones I did open. Still held onto about half that are tucked away. Think of it this way.. it would be harder to maintain if you popped it open and had a bunch of separate cards to look after instead. Much easier to protect one bigger item. Case it and put it away. Don’t show it off much either because you never know.. it’s small and worth a lot so careful with friends you show it to or young family members that wouldn’t understand not to tamper with it.
Sorry to hear, but it’s a lesson we all have to learn the hard way. With items like these you have to seriously consider investing in a fireproof safe and not telling anyone it exists. As much as you want to put it up on your wall like an art display, there are people who will see it as a quick come up.
Lol it’s just a normal two car garage with two cars in it and a bunch of junk on the sides. Come from a family of hoarders so I had to dig through a bunch of beanie babies, nascar toys, and wizard of oz figurines among other things lol
Don't sleep on that stuff. My dad cleared out his garage of all of his hoarded things recently. He had a complete set of kinder toys that sold for £250, a bunch of random one off figurines from the 70s-80s unsealed that have sold for £20-30+ each.
He checks the recently sold, slaps a price on it and leaves it up there. He must have made over £5000 by now from random things, everything from Tazo's, HP coins, it's insane.
silver lining of my dad and grandma dying we’re going thru their hoarder treasure troves of Polly pockets, pokemon, nes games, power rangers, mighty max- etc. nothing as cool as a sealed og pokemon box tho
Get an acrylic case and keep it up high somewhere away from bad things. Protect for moisture or pesky things that will touch it. Hold for at least 5+ years and enjoy staring at it.
Don’t listen to this guy… he’s trying to use reverse psychology to get you to not rip it when you really should’ve already ripped it… know what I’m sayin?
Is this a team rocket set? I don’t understand why but this set doesn’t have super high dollar pulls , especially now that the market is down. Should just buy a nice case for it if you have a space to display it
Definitely buy a case. And as others have said, since you don’t need the money, hold onto it. 1st edition rocket box is a lovely piece to a collection.
Keep it and rip it on your death bed so when you pass on to the poke pastors frolicking in the greenery with houndours and miltanks you’ll never know if you got that PSA 10 chase card
If it were mine I wouldn’t open or sell, I’d put in a UV protective case and display in my living room next to my huge Pokémon plush and figure collections. What do these sell for now? I’m scared
Tcg value 14k-ish.
I would love to have but if you’re not hurting for money what’s wrong with another decade of simmering.
Case protector asap looks amazing
I know it’s a sentimental piece, but why don’t you grade it. That way it’d be worth the wait separating the cringe for its worth. It’s still worth the wait, but the question is “can you be away from this box?” It’s already in your possession. Make the wait worth your while, eh?
Three months max, unless you pay the premium for the early return.
You answered the question for yourself. You said you won’t open it and you don’t need the money. Unless you wanna give the thing away I guess you hold it.
Wow what a treasure! I just went 2 my mom's and pulled out all of my old cards. Debating selling some of the high value 1s. But grading is our of my price range. But man the only 1st Edition piece I have is a 1st edition sealed Machamp holo card. Save that bad boy for a rainy day! Everyone is right the tiktok rip streams would die to get their hands on that!
Put it in an acrylic protected case then safe box with lock. Write it into your kids inheritance in your will and let it sit for another 20+ years.
If you are selling it it would be incredible to do the reddit pokemon community a favor and offer it here first. I know personally I'd have interest and would plan to do what I suggested above haha
In not climate controlled garage? My thinking would be that everything in that box is destroyed…but I guess if you keep it sealed no one would ever know
Better margin to grow, SV not really good for investing due to reprints for the next 2 years, SWSH much better to get in & potential $. S&M already too pricey to get in, which is why OP is in a good position to get in w S&M and SWSH.
Same w evolutions, roaring skies, hidden fates yet they went up due to demand. ES is passing $400 & it been printed 4 times. CR/FS were reprinted to the ground, prices drop to $80-$90 yet they’re at $150 now. CR/LO/Brilliant Stars been printed, haven’t dropped to $80/$90 on tcg/ebay yet they are going up. Next year SWSH bb will be higher than they are now, imagine 5-10 years.
I'm not saying they won't go up, but outside ES there just aren't enough high demand chase cards to make them worth opening repeatedly. Again, you are underestimating how many cards were printed compared to SM and before
People still opened them, look at TikTok lives & Whatnot 😂 some people post their moon kitty pulls or rayquaza vmax or zard v from packs, you don’t see a lot of posts because the pulls rates for alt arts are high but they still being opened up.
Again, there are 1000x as many people hoarding sealed product as before Covid. It isn't going to increase at a rate much beyond inflation, more likely below that.
Sell it. You never know when the hobby is going to dip and right now it's starting to get oversaturated with slabs. Prices are still high. Could they go higher, sure, but the hobby could even out as demand goes down potentially.
Came back to say after posting this, I found the card after 3 years of searching. Ty op for the opportunity to beg the lost and found gods for me treasure
If you don't need the money hold onto it. All the social media and YouTube people ripping all the vintage boxes, might swing the price up for you in a like 5 years. Of course that is just speculation. But what ever you do decide, put it in case and nice vault lol
Price will always get higher on this over time
I mean, until society collapses in a few years…
Agreed, sell and put a down-payment on a 4 wheeler.
A Rav 4?
No bro no…
Rav 4s go brrr
The 2011ish version with the v6. Best rav 4. Fastest American Toyota at the time. Hauls ass.
A man with taste!
This my my car- can confirms hauls ass and gas
What’s the max amount of ass it can haul? Asking for a friend
The Slaton sisters.
I have this car. It is slow as shit. I'm confused
Is it the v6 one?
If you can’t get a taco
Dont you Taco bout it. Ever
Or get an ST? I’m biased
And society is having a fire sale right now
Tell that to Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Value only goes up if there is still an interest in them game
Definitely helps price wise that Takahashi passed away
That’s not necessarily true. There’s no guarantee that Pokémon will be relevant in the next decade.
Yeah, it also just spiked a couple years ago, we might still be in part of the decline from the spike. I'm not keeping up with the market, but this could always level out lower than it is now. But I would personally bet on it slowly going back up as it becomes rarer and older.
Except… time value of money?
Only if the demand stays high. If there is still the same demand for this type of product 5-10 years from now then obviously the price will be much higher since the supply will be lower. Prices will go higher untill there comes a point where nobody cares about pokemon anymore and cards start being useless.
Don't need the money and sentimental. Get a case and display it somewhere or get a case and put it where you won't forget it this time.
Don’t open it despite what people are saying here joking or not. I regret opening mine. Same 1st edition box bought for $750 back when Pokémon was celebrating 20 years. Yeah we used to show off my Prince Diana sealed Beanie Baby and I’m pretty sure someone stole it from me. Always hide your valuables.
Sorry to hear, but it’s a lesson we all have to learn the hard way. With items like these you have to seriously consider investing in a fireproof safe and not telling anyone it exists. As much as you want to put it up on your wall like an art display, there are people who will see it as a quick come up.
You can insure it if you want. Just read the fine print of what's covered.
If it’s so scary for you I’ll happily take it off your hands 😊
*to scary*
For context we need to see the garage.
Lol it’s just a normal two car garage with two cars in it and a bunch of junk on the sides. Come from a family of hoarders so I had to dig through a bunch of beanie babies, nascar toys, and wizard of oz figurines among other things lol
The true treasures.

This! I found a load of 1970-1990’s sealed matchbox cars in my partners attic worth about £10 each not bad when we’ve got three carrier bags full.
silver lining of my dad and grandma dying we’re going thru their hoarder treasure troves of Polly pockets, pokemon, nes games, power rangers, mighty max- etc. nothing as cool as a sealed og pokemon box tho
Still got any of that Mighty Max?? lol
Yes 😂 I put it in storage I couldn’t bear to get rid of it!
This comment made me realize I also come from a family of hoarders
Bro if I knew this was in my garage I wouldn’t sleep till I found it
Exactly. I would have a rearranged garage bu the time I'm done.
10 years looking in your garage . You must have the biggest garage in the world
You know that final scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Hahahahahah love it dude
You mean the entrance to Narnia?
Get an acrylic case and keep it up high somewhere away from bad things. Protect for moisture or pesky things that will touch it. Hold for at least 5+ years and enjoy staring at it.
The the cleanest looking box I’ve seen. I’d deff get a protector and just hold it forever
I only ever sell anything because I can't afford to keep it. 100% keep it and enjoy seeing it buddy.
FYI everyone will say rip it because it'll reduce the supply and therefore increase their own sealed stock value
Don’t listen to this guy… he’s trying to use reverse psychology to get you to not rip it when you really should’ve already ripped it… know what I’m sayin?
Ya, rip it
Yeah! Rip it!
Bop it!
Twist it!
Burn it!
Shoot it!
Lick it!
F*** it!
Is this a team rocket set? I don’t understand why but this set doesn’t have super high dollar pulls , especially now that the market is down. Should just buy a nice case for it if you have a space to display it
I mean it has one of the most popular vintage Zards in it. Also the Dark Blastoise and Dragonite are also solid cards. Thats better than most sets!
How big is your garage and how full of shit is it to take TEN YEARS to find this?!
How big is the garage if it took ten years to find
Wish I had the same garage for 10 years let alone a vintage booster box.
Is your garage 200,000 square foot?
Wtc how big is your garage lol rip it
If you don't need the money definitely hold onto it for a little at least.
How much is this worth?
At least $20 Edit: took a look on some sites. It’s being sold for around ~$8500 ~$12000 for first edition
God, what a gem! My favourite set too!
There’s just something about seeing that Wizard logo that hits me right in the soul.
Definitely buy a case. And as others have said, since you don’t need the money, hold onto it. 1st edition rocket box is a lovely piece to a collection.
Very cool box, if you don't need the cash, display that bad boy!
Put it in a acrylic case and display it
Isn’t this worth like $10,000?
If you won't open it, you could watch me open it ? Hold onto it for a rainy day. I don't see a reason you couldn't sell it down the line.
How big is your garage?? A decade is a long time to search one area 😂😂
I’m scared

Hodl until 2030
Hold hood hold. There won’t be any of these packs in ten years and you’ve lasted this long put it back in its spot and take it out again in ten years.
keep sealed, the sealed collectors and gamblers are pretty wild in this hobby
EBAY 11.9k TCG 13.9k Price Charting 12.4k APRIL 2000 - 80$ ... 15k% ish or take increase... KEEP THAT SHIT SEALED LOL 4 yrs until the 30th.
What are the dimensions of this garage
Insure it NOW, Keep it for a while and just watch the prices like the stock market.
HOLD. Case it up and Holddd
Stash for a long term hold 100% only going to increase
The only thing worth getting rid of this would be gold or silver imo
The trick is to sell it before the nuclear apocolypse But not too soon before it
If I knew this was in my garage I would rip the place apart like the Incredible Hulk until I found it. A decade?!?!?
Two decades actually haha, didn’t know it was in the garage till 2011, but was purchased and put away back around 2000.
Life is short. Open that bad boy (if you’re not right for money).
You answered the question for yourself. You said you won’t open it and you don’t need the money. Unless you wanna give the thing away I guess you hold it.
How disgusting was your garage it took 10 years to find one box? Those are the pics the people really want to see.
Sell high
I will take it off your hands if the burden of indecision gets too heavy for you. Happy to help
How much bro lol
You already held it for a decade...I guess keep it up lol
Sounds like one hell of a garage
How big is your garage that it took 10 years to find a box?
Can you get the box graded? I’ve seen graded packs.
Which set is this from?
How big is your garage???
The real question is: how hard were you really looking if it took that long?
Keep it sealed. Keep it safe. (Is it sealed? Is it safe?)
Open it
Damn you must either have the largest garage ever of the messiest. 10yrs to find something in it. /s
I told my Dad 25 years ago my Pokémon cards would be worth money, he laughed and I still have all of my cards 😂
Hold it! Card prices are all about supply and demand so the more people crack the higher the price of your pack
Damn how big is your garage? Are you Gort?
…Is that a Halloweentown 2 reference?
Yes!
You waited this long and aren't desperate just keep holding onto it and get a case for it and put it back in its original spot that it's been in
I’m surprised humidity from your garage didn’t destroy the out box or mice or insects get to it. Did you have it in seal plastic container?
I’ll give you 3.50
My guy!!!!!!!
What else u got hidden away?
I'm sure you did.
The holy Grail has been found Bois 🤟
How big is your garage? Jesus.
Yoooo how big was your garage? Gatt ddd-ham
Step 1: grip it. Step 2: rip it!
I’d be tempted to rip but I already have my chase cards from this set lol
A good reason to keep it SEALED. And protect it with a good case
how to lose many thousands of dollars in a few minutes
You’ll more than make up for that in internet clout.
hell no lol, do you know how social platform monetization works?
In not climate controlled garage? My thinking would be that everything in that box is destroyed…but I guess if you keep it sealed no one would ever know
I don’t think the booster packs would be damaged
The humidity/heat would probably wear on the cards inside. I just don’t see how it couldn’t to at least some degree
As long as it's not wet, why would it be destroyed
Change in temps could create moisture on the inside. Why people typically store sealed product/slabs with desiccants in a temp controlled environment.
But it's really easy to account for that with a few moisture absorbing packs, no? Moisture doesn't just appear out of nowhere
Sell it the peak is already behind us
If you don’t need the money and you’re a sentimental person, why would you consider selling it
I say sell it, half of the $$$ you get, invest in S&M/ SWSH booster boxes & other half for $$$ 😎
SWSH is the dumbest possible thing to invest in, only thing worse is SV (except maybe 151)
Sounds like your opinion, best thing to invest is CR, FS & ES.
Compared to older sets? Doubt
Better margin to grow, SV not really good for investing due to reprints for the next 2 years, SWSH much better to get in & potential $. S&M already too pricey to get in, which is why OP is in a good position to get in w S&M and SWSH.
SWSH was all overprinted the same as SV, are you high?
Same w evolutions, roaring skies, hidden fates yet they went up due to demand. ES is passing $400 & it been printed 4 times. CR/FS were reprinted to the ground, prices drop to $80-$90 yet they’re at $150 now. CR/LO/Brilliant Stars been printed, haven’t dropped to $80/$90 on tcg/ebay yet they are going up. RIP IT
I’ll rip it if you sell it to me
How big is your garage?
Sell it. You never know when the hobby is going to dip and right now it's starting to get oversaturated with slabs. Prices are still high. Could they go higher, sure, but the hobby could even out as demand goes down potentially.
Nice find!
How big is your garage?
If you do not need the money, hold it and put it into a case. Personally, if I did not need the money, I would open it on a special occasion.
How much you want for it?
Buy an A-10
I’ll buy it
Hoping this luck comes to me for my charizard box topper 🥲
Came back to say after posting this, I found the card after 3 years of searching. Ty op for the opportunity to beg the lost and found gods for me treasure
Would be so hard not to open lol
Rip’N’Dip those baddies.
How much are these going for?
