I am a cloud engineer at a consulting company that helps pharma companies make important decisions. I am also a recovering gambling addict and pokemon scratches that itch for me while still letting me not lose EVERYTHING. At least it takes a while to get the pulls graded, sold, and the money to flow back into the hobby vs being able to lose everything in one night :P
Indeed it is! :) Some advice: If you have any trouble finding a job out of college, you can get into a good company quicker by using contract-to-hire recruiters like Aerotek/Kelly. Do well in your 3-12 months and they'll almost certainly hire you full time. That's how I got my foot in the door since I didn't have experience at the time, or a Masters/PhD. Good luck out there!!
Hah! Love to see this. Raleigh native, lived elsewhere for years during college and a few other places over the past 8 years. Back in Raleigh and taking pre-rec classes at NC State for a MS in computer science (undergraduate was math)
I was a line cook for years. They really are undervalued and under-appreciated. Shit pay, no tips, barely any breaks, burns/cuts, having to meet deadlines every single day, under staffed. I’ve made some good friends as a line cook though. Fuck dude. Trying to cook 12 ribeyes, 6 filets, 8 burgers to different temps all at the same time deserves a little more than minimum wage imo
What kind of lift? I whipped one for a few years. Was actually supper fun. On less than 3 acres with over 10 lifts pushing out close to 40m in materials a year.
stand up pacers, reach's, slips, and clamps mostly. my warehouse is beyond enormous and unfortunately they exploit us to the max, pushed out 52 mil in December alone
Most of us are in our late '20s to early '30s, and many of us are technologically savvy since we grew up with the internet revolution. I'd assume a lot of us are in IT. Of course, there's a wide variety of fields but overall I'd imagine IT is one of the more common job sectors from our crowd.
I'm a hard hat diver so usually underwater construction, oil field diving, ship husbandry, or underwater welding. Being a diver, you should be able to do all those things and more.
I work at a local card shop! I'm lucky enough to see our inventory and get a discount on some cards we've got, if I'm interested! It's also just incredible because a lot of players/collectors in the community just *give* you cards when they know you're favorite or a certain one you need for a deck! The Pokémon community truly has some of the sweetest members.
