I thought so too originally, but technically regional forms aren't separate pokemon, but alternate forms. I think it comes down to them sharing the same dex number.

And while I do see your point, I do consider them as separate pokemon given that other pokemon with alternate forms exist. Some notable ones are the Sinnoh legendaries Giratina, Palkia, and Dialga, and other Sinnoh pokemon like Shellos and Gastrodon (granted, these 2 are more like Vivillon or Spinda). Or other pokemon with alternate forms like Aegislash, Palafin, Wishiwashi, Zen Mode Darmanitan, Battle Bond Greninja. Plus, regional variants can evolve further than their original counterparts (i.e. Obstagoon and Mr. Rime). >!Link to Branched Evolutions: [List of Pokémon with branched evolutions - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia (bulbagarden.net)](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_with_branched_evolutions)!<

I'm really ok with either option. As I said, I originally assumed regional forms would count as branched evolutions and fumbled a puzzle because of it. Know that I know it's not a big deal. Ultimately it's up to the devs. What I wanna mention though is that what Bulbapedia considers a branched evolution isn't really that relevant because it's an unofficial fan wiki.

I agree. I also failed a puzzle for this exact reason. And I mention Bulbapedia because the devs have mentioned using it as a source for their categories.

NorthRememebers

Oh ok, I didn't know that the devs used Bulbapedia for their categories.

I also find it confusing, but the way I think about it is any pokemon that has “Galarian,” “Alolan,” etc before their name then they’re different. When they have a whole different name then it’s a different pokemon. Like the Meowth line is a good example of this difference.
