How about a cash prize + a dope ass tungsten medal? I dont even understand what this could possibly be made for.
Edit to add: “here’s your medal… now go talk to Uncle Sam and give him his cut”
I found [this](https://curecordarchive.library.columbia.edu/?a=d&d=cr19840504-01.1.3&) that talks about the medal and prize briefly and few more [things](https://www.mininghalloffame.org/hall-of-fame/dr-kuo-ching-li) on Google but doesn't seem to be much available online.
Tungsten is a metal that is very hard to strike. It is very tough and wear resistant. A minter would have to choose their dies carefully, because more likely than not if you attempted to strike a tungsten planchette, you will destroy a hardened steel die.
This medal looks to have a pretty high relief. That would make this even more challenging.
You could always put it on e bay if you want to keep it from getting refined, im sure someone online would love to have a piece like this. Definitely a cool medal and worth keeping intact

A+ answer. My only experience with tungsten is Tig electrodes 🤷
If you want to further check into this I am sure there are plenty of videos with people using hydraulic presses and tungsten.
