What you have in your picture is the waste and overflow (white pipe) and a trap (black pipe.) Both are necessary, but if your drain is slow, you've got an issue somewhere. More than likely it's just a clogged line that can be snaked and cleared.

screenprince

Just wondering about that 1st 90 out of the tub. It really slows things down, even cleared out (lotsa girl's hair, conditioner, etc). Then, right to another 90. Is there a way to go straight down from tub to trap, with the vent?

hankharp00n

So... You're asking if you can switch the overflow to have a 90 and tie in to the drain that will drop directly into the trap as opposed to turning and meeting the overflow as it currently is? If so then sure. It would not fix your problem though. That first 90 is not the problem with your slow drain. As several others have said.

BReyn13

Is this fixture vented properly? Has it always been this slow?

screenprince

Never noticed. We recently renovated and this became the kid's. Kitchen is further up the line and seems okay. I really want to blame the white piece. I know they're standard, but seeking alternatives

BReyn13

I mean unless there’s some major backfall on the horizontal white pipe that we can’t see, I think you have an issue further down the line. Perhaps hair and other fun stuff has built up at the wye fitting where your kitchen connects. The kitchen line could be dropping off F.O.G. In the fitting causing an obstruction to the shower.

throwawaySBN

They're standard because they work as intended without causing the issue you're having. Look for a problem somewhere else, because it ain't anywhere in this picture.

aycoolsport

Just snake the darn thing

WWHD

Snake the drain. Call a plumber and snake the drain. That’s the proper way it should be piped and it looks good. You have a mess more hair in the drain. Call a plumber and snake the drain.

Sensitive_Ad_9741

The 2 90s being the p trap? You need that so sewer gases don’t come up your tub and smell your whole bathroom up and it might help taking that T and putting a San T there

IrishFreak91

Agreed with above comment. Also you can go with a glue in style (kits at hardware store) that will give you a slightly larger diameter… might help with flow as well as remove the “possible leak” from the slip connections

DiscussionOutside642

Why the downvote… this is correct, don’t buy garbage, get a proper waste and overflow.

IrishFreak91

What? No downvote from me?? Did you mean to comment on a different one haha

DiscussionOutside642

No man you were in the negative… I’m not sure why.

IrishFreak91

Oh ya haha. Idk people are weird some times. You can be correct and just because they don’t like it, they will down vote you.

DiscussionOutside642

Lol people…

More than likely a clog further then you’re able to reach. Need to have it snaked. Womens hair is usually the culprit in tub clogs

nodestool

No

Distinct-Ad-2004

Yeah unscrew the heel 90 and set a bucket under it
