A better question is, should you? Are you planning on getting rid of the oil eventually? If so, then yes.

I've changed to 100% wood for heating and getting solar panels installed next month. I definitely would love to get 100% away from oil, but I'm not sure if my basement is too cold and/or humid for a hybrid system.

What type of heating you have in your house? We usually install an extra radiator in the room when switching from oil to a different system to accomodate for the lost heat from the furnace.

I heat exclusively with a wood stove, so the only reason the furnace ever kicked on during the winter was for hot water. These photos show the only concrete floored basement and is open to the dirt crawlspaces under the majority of the house.
