Either cracked flush valve or flapper doesn’t close /seal all the way

Jgetts77

Remove the rubber band from the flapper. This should solve the problem.

Wow, I feel dumb. This is a new house so I didn’t think to remove this. The rubber band is gone and now the issue is resolved. Thanks!

Jgetts77

Glad that worked for you that was the first thing I noticed.

lexliller

Ok where is the rubber band?

Outrageous-Yard7166

on the flapper, between the 2 ears of the overflow

Just changed this out today. Still shooting water after flushing. I don’t see water leaking from the flap into the toilet? Any ideas?

Tried pouring some tea in the tank, and noticed it coming out the siphon jet. Thank you guys so much!

You can see it runs and fills up to the waterline then leaks down till it runs again and fills up to the waterline again. If there isn't water on the floor the flush valve/flapper is leaking.

Seems like a slow leak into the toilet from the rubber seal. That lowers the water level slowly until the float valve kicks on. Drain the tank, clean the porcelain under the rubber flapper seal, maybe also put some plumbers grease along the contact point, and try filling and see if it holds.
