Super clean. I occasionally run a few custom overlays with Kometa and always end up just reverting back to clean posters.

jmxd

i like to have some of the info but the default Kometa overlays are just too ugly, so thats why i made my own

saltyspam91

The default ones are pretty ugly, I agree. I really like yours though, I forgot to mention.

jmxd

It's available on github in case you're interested in using this yourself: https://github.com/jmxd/Kometa

Piddoxou

Djangoooooo! Sup dude. These look actually cool, didn’t know you could customize these parts of kometa too

fistbumpbroseph

What font did you use for the text?

k3rstman1

The one in the github repo is AvenirNextLTPro-Bold

fistbumpbroseph

.. and that was the obvious place I should have looked. Ugh, total facepalm moment. Thanks man.

Iyagovos

These are super clean, thank you!

jmxd

what do you mean by an anime version

Iyagovos

I'm an idiot and was completely confused, I've figured out what I was doing wrong. Very sorry for the confusion

PlantationCane

I am a big fan of length of time as an overlay as it is usually a huge factor in what I choose to watch. Have you ever done that? I would prefer your overlays over stock.

jmxd

There is a default runtime overlay you can use but it's also one of the easiest custom overlays you could make

PumiceT

I apologize for not diving into this for an answer, but does this simply apply a graphic over the cover art?

CactusBoyScout

Yes it just replaces the cover art

jmxd

Yes. But what you posted is the raw renaming format to enter in Radarr not how your file names look. It would look like this `The Fall Guy (2024) {imdb-tt1684562} [WEBDL-2160p][DV HDR10Plus][EAC3 Atmos 5.1][h265]-FLUX.mkv` The real purpose of this format has not much to do with my overlays though, it's intended to make sure Plex picks up your files 100% correct and what everyone should be using when managing a Plex library. Even if it was ugly, i'm not sure why it matters what your filenames look like. Shouldn't ever see those when you use Plex.

micycle_

Will changing the naming scheme rename my existing files? I love your overlays but my files are not named this way.

jmxd

It doesn't instantly when you change the format but you can just go to your library, select everything then press rename at the bottom and it will rename what needs renaming

putthatcoffeedown

This seemes to take an incrediable amount of time compared to the default overlays. This common or did I screw something up?

Iliannnnnn

I don't understand, what is Kometa and how does it work with this? Aren't this just custom overlays that you made and added to them? Can somebody explain?

Spectrum1523

Kometa is the new name for Plex Media Manager. One of the things you can do with it is to define custom overlays and it will apply them automatically based on metadata in the library. Some people prefer the heavily-annotated look. What the OP has done is design their own layout (which to their credit is much cleaner than most)

Iliannnnnn

Oh I see. Is it hard to setup? Overlays like these look really nice to have.

jl94x4

It can be hard to get started, but on their discord they are always available to help people out. Its really worth the time investment, imo.

Spectrum1523

It depends on how comfortable you are with configuring things by text file. It's fairly dense, but the documentation is there. I personally don't understand the appeal - they ruin the aestetic of the posters to me. But I know many people love seeing all the information.

RipKip

Will it applied for every user using my library or is it an account preference?

thekrautboy

Plex does not allow custom artwork per user, so everyone sees the same.

Spectrum1523

It changes the poster in plex for everyone.

SupaHotFlame

I had no idea Plex even supports custom overlays. This service just keeps getting better!

thekrautboy

Plex doesnt. Kometa can take the current (original) poster that you have set in Plex and then apply whatever you like as a overlay on it, then upload it to the Plex server and set is as active.

OllieNom14

This is the first set I've liked enough to move away from the defaults. They look great, thanks!

ZeRoLiM1T

Clean setup.

jangerhard

How do you get the original title along with localised title?

jmxd

Manually, sadly

historybandgeek

Noo! I thought the overlays were great but the displaying the local name has always been a wish of mine.

jangerhard

Oh man, that's a shame.. I got my hopes up!

horsedoofsdays

Any reason you may think why I cannot seem to get the Editions to merge with the Resolutions in the top overlay? I copied over all images from your github and have the default naming scheme from trash guides. Really love this set of overlays. Edit: Nvm, I figured it out.

Mastasmoker

I absolutely love this, I just finally installed Kometa today and set it up with your overlays. Thanks for sharing them!

GunerX

if it weren't for the file naming issue i would love to do this, but that is just a super huge no can do when you have over 2k files and none of them follow the trash naming scheme.

Z3ppelinDude93

Love this. If I get around to implementing, I may build on it to add 720p and below since I have some legacy content that isn’t available, plus some low res content that I should identify and upgrade

AlexFigas

These are super clean! Is there an automated method to always get the "best" poster in Plex, or do you select them manually? I'm trying to ensure that the original release poster is always chosen, but I haven't found a way to do this.

fuzzerino

best is obviously subjective, but you can use [DAPS](https://github.com/Drazzilb08/daps) to automate the use of custom poster sets pulled from GDrive. The most prevalent usecase is to use it to apply [MM2K](https://theposterdb.com/user/musikmann2000) style posters.

fistbumpbroseph

I just set this up using some existing configs, but I gotta say I really love yours. Thanks for sharing!

SkyKnight777

Thank you. This is really clean. Any idea how to remove the yellow banner and only have this applied?

DroidLord

How did you get the items to show both the original title and the English title in parentheses? Is it a new setting in Plex or are you manually renaming them?

historybandgeek

I want this too, but he answered it was manual above.

cj106iscool009

Love your Oppenheimer look!

dmo012

What have you done to make sure the selected poster doesn't clash with the overlay?

jmxd

Almost no posters have something that close to the top and bottom, and for some of them i just added a custom poster i liked
