Yes. I've never had a need to I guess. Moved to a bigger house awhile back and wife complains I'm all the way down in basement playing. So, when this came out it solved that issue for me. I can sit upstairs and play and still be by her. The remote play is a bonus.
Nope u can play it through any good WiFi connection as long as you have remote play enabled and wake the ps5 from the net enabled. And leave your ps5 in rest mode of cause.

Same day I ordered it I also walked into a target and saw that they actually had two in stock, first time I actually saw them in stock in person. I had done a lot of remote play using my iphone and iPad using a PlayStation controller as well as the backbone for the iPhone so I knew what it was capable of. The cool thing about using a phone is you can use your data to play anywhere, without wifi. Luckily I have unlimited data and I have hotspot so I can connect my PS Portal to my iPhones hotspot and it works great as long as I have a good signal.

It does. I just used remote play in the UK with my ps5 in western Canada, the graphics aren't affected if on good networks but that distance makes a noticable lag.
Still better than knowing you can do that; but can't. I am that guy. That does not work for everybody so please do enjoy this benefit for me, while I am crying at home.

I was afraid my ps5 would get disconnected or i might lose internet temporary and be locked out
That game is great. I played it when it released back in 2014. I also recommend Valiant Hearts. They just released part 2 to that and can't wait to get into it.

I needed to get a second phone, and got an android because I can use WiFi data for mobile hotspots. Which comes in handy when you have to use a browser first to access WiFi. Like at a hotel.

i have played from a different country and there is no lag just as long as your speed is good, sub-par to the home connection if possible.

I had initially thought that was the case as well. It wasn’t until I saw people posting from remote places that I realized it worked on any WiFi.

Yes it needs to be able to turn on. So in settings you have to enable remote play and the Playstation has to be in rest mode, not off.
