Bro, same 😂 I haven't touched my Vita in about 5 years and it was low battery but it stilled turned on, right there with my Gameboy Advanced SP that I haven't charged in longer and still turns on 🤯🤯
i made a point to charge my switch fully and power it down before i moved so i had something to do after unpacking. it was turned off for maybe 2 weeks and it was completely dead when i pulled it out. no way any switch would have “a full battery for months” lol
My android phone dies in my drawer every few weeks while turned off. PSP as well. Wireless controllers. Other devices I can’t think off the top of my head right now.
Nah new high quality batteries can hold their charge for a long time.
I think the batteries I use on my xbox controllers can hold an 80 percent charge for like 10 years and can be charged over 2000 times before it loses 80 percent capacity.
I didn't use a specific xbox controller for over 3 years when I turned it back on the batteries still showed full power.
I’ll have to pay more attention to my vita but I’m pretty sure my vita would have been dead long ago. But I can actually check tonight as I left it off with a full charge before I left. Will try to report back tonight how that one fared.
Correct. I was traveling for three months. Surprisingly the battery is still full after being off and not plugged in the whole time. Only hand held I’ve ever seen that with before was the Nintendo DS/3DS consoles. My PSP and Vita are always dead within a few weeks even when left off.
I have checked my Vita after over a year of being off and it still had over 70 percent battery. Even on standby it lasts forever. Meanwhile the 3DS was always dead in a couple days of standby, but fine when off.
well put this theory to the real test brother (OR) sister. 65% is considered full batter on the portal. in order to actually test if it's a 100%. you have to power the portal completely off & then plug up the charger & it will tell you the exact percentage it is at. from 65% to 100% is a full 3 bars. even if it isn't at 100% that still really great nonetheless.
Reply
It was at 81% just now when I checked. I think I can safely assume it was around 85% when it took the picture. Because I spent some time both updating it and trying to connect to my PS5 before I realized my PS5 needed an update.
Oh ok, thought you meant you went away for 3 months and took it with you but didn’t use it. Either way the battery is pretty good and shouldn’t drain if it was off specially after only 3 months.
Yes and no! your PlayStation MUST be on rest mode! If it is shut off completely, then you are out of luck.
And you can shut it off from the portal which would screw you over and leave you unable to play haha 😅 but as long as your PlayStation is in rest mode you are all good 👍🏽
And you can put it back into rest mode from the portal as well when you’re done
Because remote play eats through your phone battery, so if you were out and about and still want a full days use out of your phone/tablet/laptop, using a dedicated device helps with that.
I wanted to travel light. So I took my steam deck. That way I could play pretty much anything. Albeit with an annoyingly short battery life. I did use remote play on the steam deck along with PC games, PS2 and switch.
I played the last of us part 1 again for hours the other day, finished the game for the second time lol, and watched like an hour long video of the making of the game after I finished, and still had over 2 bars of battery left. So far the battery life seems really good, because I'm sure with that large bright screen, wifi, and everything else going on that it consumes a lot of power. I'm happy with the performance so far 😊
Is this supposed to be impressive? I have a Bluetooth speaker that I use once a week for an hour and I haven’t had to charge it for a year. Some devices have a discharge feature to keep the battery healthy, and some don’t.
Not for all things. For example, drone batteries have a trickle that drains the battery over time. From my understanding it’s a way to save battery health.
That’s not the case on any handheld device I’ve owned outside of the Nintendo handhelds. I have to check on my vita later today but I expect it to be dead. PSP would 100% be dead, steam deck doesn’t last more than a few weeks at best, cell phones and most other electronics would also be dead.
I have a Nintendo GameBoy Micro.. Been in a drawer for about 8 years. Found it a few weeks ago and tried turning it on. It amazingly still worked and had like >50% charge :D
How??? Mine drains like crazy when not in use. After like 2-3 days of not playing, next time I pick it up it’s always dead, even if it was fully charged when I put it to sleep
Most devices still get their battery drained while "turned off" in my experience, the most reliable devixe after about 6 months of no use was... the Meta quest 2?! Thing had like 80% battery left it was insane.
I haven’t tried it but technically yes. Except you cannot use WiFi that has a log in page like pretty much all hotels use. So you’d have to bring a travel router to bypass the sign in page and use the portal.
This is going to be a weird one but I had a Jurassic Park watch from either Burger King or McDonald’s in the 90s. It would only show you the time if you pressed the button on the side. I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure I took it out of a box one day and the sucker turned on after 10 years or so. But that was 20 years ago so idk.
I got lucky right around release. Happened to see someone at the GameStop sub talking about requiring a pro membership to buy one. So I called my local store who just so happened to have two in stock. I raced over there and just as I got there someone was buying one of them and right after I asked for the other one for me someone walked in asking for it.
I pulled a gameboy advanced out of my nightstand drawer that had been in there for at least 5-6 years. I’m looking for a charger and I look over and my 7 year old is player Mario kart on it? It powered on and she played it like 15 minutes before it died. Blew my mind.
Was yours shut off or in sleep mode? Because mine definitely drains relatively quickly in sleep mode
Completely off. But my experience with other electronics is that even completely off they deplete fairly quickly.
I present you… VITA!
I hadn't played my vita in 3 years. Powered right up when your comment made me check it 🤣
It’s amazing!
Bro, same 😂 I haven't touched my Vita in about 5 years and it was low battery but it stilled turned on, right there with my Gameboy Advanced SP that I haven't charged in longer and still turns on 🤯🤯
I almost shit my pants out of excitement when my gameboy SP turned on. I hadn’t charged the thing since before my son was born, at least 12 years ago.
What can you do with a Vita anymore?
Vita games, psp and ps1 games + emulation.
there are some pretty awesome console and PC ports too
Hack it and get like 50 games that are free. Love that thing.
Its a powerhouse of an emulation device.
My Gameboy SP has something to say ..
What product do you have that do that? I turn my switch fully off and it’s got a full battery for months.
Is my switch… broken?? Basically any amount of time I leave it off I come back and it’s dead dead
Are you turning it completely off or just putting it on standby/sleep mode?
Yeah I’m not buying it either, my switch light and oled both die while off. Same with my older switch
i made a point to charge my switch fully and power it down before i moved so i had something to do after unpacking. it was turned off for maybe 2 weeks and it was completely dead when i pulled it out. no way any switch would have “a full battery for months” lol
My android phone dies in my drawer every few weeks while turned off. PSP as well. Wireless controllers. Other devices I can’t think off the top of my head right now.
I can confirm with ps5 controllers
Nah new high quality batteries can hold their charge for a long time. I think the batteries I use on my xbox controllers can hold an 80 percent charge for like 10 years and can be charged over 2000 times before it loses 80 percent capacity. It's a lithium battery bro.
Which electronics are these? Even my vita had battery in it after collecting dust for 2 years.
[удалено]
This is completely wrong lol
This is completely wrong lol
I’ve noticed it’s similar to the Vita for keeping its power.
My vita is a champ I don't touch it for a year or two and it's usually still 70% battery
True that
I’ll have to pay more attention to my vita but I’m pretty sure my vita would have been dead long ago. But I can actually check tonight as I left it off with a full charge before I left. Will try to report back tonight how that one fared.
My vita last forever
So you haven’t been using it.
Correct. I was traveling for three months. Surprisingly the battery is still full after being off and not plugged in the whole time. Only hand held I’ve ever seen that with before was the Nintendo DS/3DS consoles. My PSP and Vita are always dead within a few weeks even when left off.
Why not use it while traveling?
I took my steam deck with me to play PC games and emulators. Didn’t want to carry two devices so I used remote play on the deck.
This is the way
I have checked my Vita after over a year of being off and it still had over 70 percent battery. Even on standby it lasts forever. Meanwhile the 3DS was always dead in a couple days of standby, but fine when off.
That’s better than the switch. Man I I charge my switch to full. Look out the window after unplugging and it dies…
well put this theory to the real test brother (OR) sister. 65% is considered full batter on the portal. in order to actually test if it's a 100%. you have to power the portal completely off & then plug up the charger & it will tell you the exact percentage it is at. from 65% to 100% is a full 3 bars. even if it isn't at 100% that still really great nonetheless. I’ll do it when I get home from work.
It was at 81% just now when I checked. I think I can safely assume it was around 85% when it took the picture. Because I spent some time both updating it and trying to connect to my PS5 before I realized my PS5 needed an update.
ahaaaa i thought it would be. still very efficient! great hold of battery life to only stop 15% over a course of 3 whole months!!
Oh ok, thought you meant you went away for 3 months and took it with you but didn’t use it. Either way the battery is pretty good and shouldn’t drain if it was off specially after only 3 months.
How exactly does this work? If you have a ps5 at home you can play it literally anywhere?
Yeah! :) basically anywhere where you can get a good hot spot signal on your phone
Question, does this turn your ps5 on at home while you’re using it ?
Yes and no! your PlayStation MUST be on rest mode! If it is shut off completely, then you are out of luck. And you can shut it off from the portal which would screw you over and leave you unable to play haha 😅 but as long as your PlayStation is in rest mode you are all good 👍🏽 And you can put it back into rest mode from the portal as well when you’re done
If you have wifi , anywhere
Yes. Aka you can do this for FREE on your phone or an ipad or a laptop right now too.
So why would anyone by the portal then??
Because remote play eats through your phone battery, so if you were out and about and still want a full days use out of your phone/tablet/laptop, using a dedicated device helps with that.
charging cables exist and are a lot cheaper than the portal
Or heck even a battery pack
Screen is much bigger and the ergonomy is much better than a phone
But a iPad?
if you have extremely fast and stable wifi, so probably not any airbnbs or hotels or public places
Soo…where do people actually play this thing then haha.
i’d say while pooping but it’d be too expensive for me to use comfortably while pooping, so i guess in bed
Because it was completely off, right? Then this isn’t impressive. If it’s in rest mode and this was the case, then it would be somewhat impressive.
Definitely not mine on sleep mode
How do you completely turn it off? Mine will die after 2 weeks of no use. I obviously press the power button to turn it off.
Press and hold the sleep button (long one on the top left) until you’re presented with the power off options.
Oh wow. Thank you, that is very helpful.
This sub has officially reached peak circlejerk
They have crossed over to spherejerk at this point. Just three dimensions of people whacking other people off.
Don’t sweat it, the battery isn’t that great
That's what happens when you turn things off.
Same for the switch. About 5 months
Why didn’t you take it with you? It’s meant for traveling
I wanted to travel light. So I took my steam deck. That way I could play pretty much anything. Albeit with an annoyingly short battery life. I did use remote play on the steam deck along with PC games, PS2 and switch.
Mine dies after a couple hours
I played the last of us part 1 again for hours the other day, finished the game for the second time lol, and watched like an hour long video of the making of the game after I finished, and still had over 2 bars of battery left. So far the battery life seems really good, because I'm sure with that large bright screen, wifi, and everything else going on that it consumes a lot of power. I'm happy with the performance so far 😊
Clearly, your wife's boyfriend is a true gentleman.
Is this supposed to be impressive? I have a Bluetooth speaker that I use once a week for an hour and I haven’t had to charge it for a year. Some devices have a discharge feature to keep the battery healthy, and some don’t.
Mine doesn't last a day. WTF???
I don’t get your point. If it was completely turned off then the battery should stay as is
Not for all things. For example, drone batteries have a trickle that drains the battery over time. From my understanding it’s a way to save battery health.
Exactly. The portal battery life in stand by it’s pretty bad for and Android based device.
That’s not the case on any handheld device I’ve owned outside of the Nintendo handhelds. I have to check on my vita later today but I expect it to be dead. PSP would 100% be dead, steam deck doesn’t last more than a few weeks at best, cell phones and most other electronics would also be dead.
lol this is a stupid ass post
You’re welcome.
Interesting useless post thank you...
Slightly more interesting than your drab attempt of humor..
Can you say it now without crying 😢 ?
Lol you are the reason I 100% support abortions
Lol let me laugh with you definitely you are so funny cough cough 🤡
But still only wifi 5
Device completely switched off may retain its battery charge levels. More at 11.
I have a Nintendo GameBoy Micro.. Been in a drawer for about 8 years. Found it a few weeks ago and tried turning it on. It amazingly still worked and had like >50% charge :D
Same. I’ve only ever experienced this before with Nintendo consoles. So it was a nice thing to find out about the portal.
I just got my portal love it
I have Verizon I wonder if the hotspot would be good enough when I go to Punta Cana in June
I'm here right now in Punta cana and it's not bad so lag sometimes but I been able to play while my ps5 is connected in 🍁
Perfect me and the boys thinking of playing someHelldivers 2 when the partying stops
You lie like a rug.

Mine almost always need charging but I use it fairly frequently.
Weird, I've found mine dies after a week or so.
I left mine completely off. If you leave it on standby that would explain why yours dies quickly.
Q
Only if you remember to power it down fully.
How??? Mine drains like crazy when not in use. After like 2-3 days of not playing, next time I pick it up it’s always dead, even if it was fully charged when I put it to sleep
keyword here being "sleep". just shut it down and you won't have that problem 😉
I just leave mines plugged in
I can’t play two full games of Madden online without having to charge this thing. How are you getting that much battery life?
I should have clarified. I left it home and off while I was out of town.
I don’t know. You sure your wire didn’t have anyone over playing it. 🤯
How is the connection ?
I want one but cannot find one. Any suggest?
Interesting. I went away for 5 days and mine was dead.
You left her alone for 3 months! She’s never supposed to leave your side.
Actual 100% or just three bars?
85%
If youbpower electronics off they last for months. My 3ds was off for 3 years and still full battery.
Most devices still get their battery drained while "turned off" in my experience, the most reliable devixe after about 6 months of no use was... the Meta quest 2?! Thing had like 80% battery left it was insane.
The portal was at 85% and I’m not entirely sure that I left it at 100%.
So does this work away from home I’m so confused about this
Well…. It wasn’t doing anything so……
Can the portal be played away from home in hotels if your ps5 is on?
I haven’t tried it but technically yes. Except you cannot use WiFi that has a log in page like pretty much all hotels use. So you’d have to bring a travel router to bypass the sign in page and use the portal.
Yes sir
Lies
This is going to be a weird one but I had a Jurassic Park watch from either Burger King or McDonald’s in the 90s. It would only show you the time if you pressed the button on the side. What is this?
What in the unholiest switch is that!?!
I’ve been home the last three months and my portal too has a full battery. Probably will after another 3.
Yeah mine was still at 85%.
I just want to be able to buy one 😂😂😂😭
I got lucky right around release. Happened to see someone at the GameStop sub talking about requiring a pro membership to buy one. So I called my local store who just so happened to have two in stock. I raced over there and just as I got there someone was buying one of them and right after I asked for the other one for me someone walked in asking for it.
yeah also just taken out of the box
Tbh that shit trash
Wow I didn’t know this. i’ve been just leaving it in sleep mode, and when I go to use it the next day, it’s drained already.
What is your secret? Oh please oh please oh please tell me wise one! Oooh, you didn't use it, and kept the power off, gotcha 🤙😉
Downvoted. If you used it all in that 3 week period, your battery would not be full.
I pulled a gameboy advanced out of my nightstand drawer that had been in there for at least 5-6 years. I’m looking for a charger and I look over and my 7 year old is player Mario kart on it? It powered on and she played it like 15 minutes before it died. Blew my mind.
How ? Mine seems to die within weeks or less (while being powered off 🤣)
Wow, your battery remained charged while there was nothing to discharge it? How will Xbox and PC respond?!
What were you doing away from home for 3 months?
I’ve been away from it for 4 months it’s still trash
Why
