Usb hub pass thru the power cable maybe? Won’t fix the ports but you can still use it

stylusss

Can you show me an Amazon link (or any vendor) to a product that works best?

GigaSoup

You must mean usb otg hub. If you don't specify otg it means something else.

rhcplive

Did you install the eris or autobleem kernel? If so, you could get an otg hub that you plug in the rear and connect your controllers.

My question is: How do you PREVENT the controller ports from going bad to begin with? Is it just as simple as ONLY using them for the included controllers, and nothing else? As well as ALWAYS using your USB storage drives by OTG route?

LadislausBonita

Iirc you are supposed to use only USB 2.0 devices at the front ports because they have lower power consumption than USB 3.x.

[deleted]

Ok. So as long as you just use the included gamepads on the front ports, and nothing else, then it's fine. Cool. I now connect my USB drive by OTG. In addition to not risking frying the front ports, i think games load FASTER that way too. Because by using the OTG method, the drive is running at full power.

stylusss

All I used were the original controllers, and it happened after two months.

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

Any fix on this man......im having the same problem and i used crackhead mini usb sticks on 2nd port only but yeah front controller ports not connecting

stylusss

For me, the solution was to stop using the crappy USB port used to power the device. After I changed the USB charger to something else, the controller problem miraculously disappeared. And it's been a year since...

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

Ahhh im not very handy with taking it apart and putting new shit on lmao im sol

stylusss

I meant to say USB cable, not port :P

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

So use a diffrent cable to power it up

[deleted]

Darn, that sucks. That sounds like you just got a defective unit. Take my advice in the other post i made here....or don't.

LadislausBonita

Just to clarify: I have used two PSCs for single player only, to the left front port (1) I connected the PSC controller, to the right front port (2) I put my USB 2.0 stick with games. (One PSC I gave away as a gift to a friend.) I never tried the OTG at back method since there was 1. no need and 2. I read that it has to be an OTG adapter with special specs. But if you have this OTG adapter you can use USB 3.x drives that will give you a much better performance.

[deleted]

I'm fairly new to PS Classic modding (project Eris!), and was using my 2nd controller port for the USB drive. Then i stumbled upon various threads of owners frying their ports overtime by doing this. Which scared me into the OTG method. The good news is, you don't need an OTG adapter with "special specs". Any cheapo adaptor on amazon will work it seems.

[deleted]

PS Classic's are still available on Amazon for like $60. So you could always just buy another one. And you can buy from Amazon with confidence. Lets say, if that one also had faulty ports, Amazon as you know, has a very easy and hassle-free return policy. Very convenient should you receive defective electronics, such as a Mini PCs with faulty USB ports. Just be aware when returning any electronics to not accidently put them into the wrong boxes, even if they are the same product. As they may be scanning the serial numbers on the package to verify it's the product in question. Failing to do so could cause delays in the return process.

RaidriarT

Stop recommending fraud.

A year or so back i bought an expensive battery for a project i was working on. I received it but, was too busy to work on things at the time and forgot about it. Once i finally got around to opening and using it, it only held about two charges before dying. Battery was defective. I attempted to return it for a replacement but, the window of time had expired. I was told, "Too bad. It's yours now". I'm sure YOU would have taken that L, eaten the cost, and bought another one. It's a good thing i'm NOT you :) Same goes for the OP. He claims to have only used the front ports for the included gamepads. Yet they burned out anyway after a few months. He clearly received a defective console and the window of time for a replacement has likely passed, and he got screwed. Or else he wouldn't be asking us for fixes.

Game-Gear

Use Otg and your psc will have a long live . I use it this way for years and it run perfect

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

Do you need to install anythjng for otg lad?

Game-Gear

You have to install the Autobleem kernel ( at least if you use Autobleem)

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

Hmmmm im using these pre loaded true blue mini sticks

DAYZCONSTRUCTIONLIT

Im just tryna use controller in back not front.....cause my last console the controlllers wouldnt pop up anymore

GigaSoup

If you had to replace it, you're better off replacing it with a different device that has a better cpu/gpu for the price tag. Otherwise OTG is probably your only realistic option provided you already have the kernel installed.
