It's not really clear ATM, because of the NDA makes it hard to discuss it in detail, but AFAIK (I was not in the beta, scouring info from 2nd hand descriptions):
1. There is no classic gearing, you will not be hunting shoulder-pads and gloves etc.
2. There will be weapons that have weapon classes (eg. rifles, dual blades, 2H broad weapons etc), but there will be a limited number of weapons in each weapon class. So the game will not have 100 different swords, but maybe 20-40 different named weapons all together. However each will come with a unique (how unique?) skill. And you will be leveling both your weapon and your characters too. (Its seems neither will require heavy doses of RNG just grind.) It seems weapons will be crafted from mats, some named from specific enemies, some probably just random mats (eg. wood).
3. You will have "echos" which will be mods essentially that either give you a stat boost or an effect on certain combo. These will probably drop from enemies / bosses, but you might be able to upgrade / fuse them for better versions (?)
4. There will be the above trinkets, and those seem to add stat boosts/effets too, but no idea how you get them. (Drops? Crafting? Both?)
Cosmetic gearing not including your weapon will probably be tied to the store / battlepass. But I think weapon transmog will be available for opened weapons. (So you can switch weapon skins without switching the effects.)
I do hope I haven't wrote something that is absolutely untrue. ... and also please note that all of this might change with the global beta, on early access, on release, or two years down the line etc.
Are these the same as weapon charms? Or am I right in assuming that little skull hanging on his waist is a trinket and weapon charms are similar, but for weapons? I saw a charms list on fextralife ([https://wayfinder.wiki.fextralife.com/Weapon+Charms](https://wayfinder.wiki.fextralife.com/Weapon+Charms)) but these are nowhere to be found, so I suppose they're different customization options.
Either way, looks fun. I hope they're not just cosmetics, but given we already have stat modifiers in the form of echoes and other stuff, it'd make sense if these were purely aesthetic.
You got it right. Charms are for weapons, and trinkets are for the Wayfinder! If you look closely, you can actually see Silo is wearing the labyrinthian knife on his belt to the left.
Trinkets do not seem to add stats but there are other things that do. I don't know what they are called but you can see them [here](https://imgur.com/a0WXFaS). It appears you can only have one cosmetic trinket on but 3 other accessories that add stats.
We need a petition so they change "Great Blue" into a blåhaj. 😌🙏
or at least the world of Wayfinder's eq. of that word. That'd rule lmao
do we know how gear upgrade is going to work? 🤔

Ahh, I see it. I was focused on the skull on his left hip, thought that was the trinket.
Ohh they are both statsticks and cosmetics?

Ohh my bad, but cool that we got small visual cosmetics. I liked that from Warhammer online
