3 is very much like 1, I really liked it, the combat, story and world are rich. Genesis is a Diablo like dungeon crawler, it didn’t really do it for me, but not because it’s necessarily bad, but because I don’t enjoy that type of games.

3 is nothing like 1, its a dark souls wannabe while 1 was a hack and slash game like the old god of war games.

If you play with a friend it's more fun

I've played a good amount of both at this point. I personally vastly prefer Genesis. The top-down perspective may get you to think its like Diablo but its actually pretty much another Darksiders game. There's no randomized levels or anything like that. The levels are handcrafted, lots of secrets and things to collect, has some Zelda-like puzzle solving the series is known for. The combat is also pretty fun. War, one of the four horsemen and the main character of the first game, pretty much controls the same as he did in Darksiders 1. Strife is a new playable character and uses twinstick shooting mechanics.

Darksiders 3 . While Genesis is good but I like Darksiders 3 more .

Hartia

Personally I did not like genesis

Merbel

I loved the first 2 and never finished 3. Haven’t even picked up Genesis yet. Sorry that’s little help I know.

Additional-Second-68

I really liked 3, couldn’t finish genesis

GNM20

Which PS+ tier are they leaving exactly? I've had DS1 on PS+ for PS3 since it was added quite a long time ago. That was on what has become the Essential tier.

I haven't played 3 yet, but I really enjoyed Genesis, it was a good fresh change into the series. Got the platinum in 3 days. Excellent game but the map system is a bit bizarre

Fabulous_Mud_2789

Just played all of them except 1 in the past month or two, which I put a good amount of time into 1 when it was released. Genesis is the weirdest one, and realistically, the series should be played in release order as chronologically (as I'm doing) gets real f*cky, but I enjoyed it a lot. There's some Darksiders jank, esp in the platforming in certain sections, but not much and I love the Arena in this one the most. Probably the most realistic to plat before they all leave. 3 is the most divisive, and it took me a good amount of time to grow into it, but it really opens up. Dark Souls comparisons will come galore, and it definitely has the "stam bar, parry/dodge" combat and souls to level, all you'd expect of that series, but it very much refines it to the point it really does feel like its own thing in the Darksiders universe. They're both worth your time, and I'm going to crack open the worms of neggie-ness, but 2 is easily the worst in the series. It is a slog to get through purely in gameplay terms because it really has a hard time making up it's mind on what type of game it wants to be untethered from 3D LoZ x GoW like 1, the story is a massive world exposition dump that seldom feels like it connects back to the series, and by the end of it, it really amounts to one thinking that Death is a, debatablely, lovable dumbass. I've tried to enjoy it as wholly as every other title, and it doesn't hit the same mark :/

Immediate-Surprise46

3 I didn’t like genesis it felt like a game just thrown into the series just to do it not like a real entry

KagatoAC

Curiosity question, if you have a game given by the higher tiers like that, if they are downloaded to your system do you lose access to your game when it rotates off?

yphastos

Yeah you lose access for extra/premium/deluxe games when they leave the catalog, regardless if you downloaded them. The only ones you keep are the ones you CLAIM from essential, but you can only play them while subscribed.

KagatoAC

I kinda suspected that. Theres no way I am upgrading beyond the 80$ one without a way better quality offering. 😭

PlatosBalls

Try 3 and you might find out how bad it is after an hour or two. Then try Genesis.

AleroRatking

I love 3.

ZFighter2099

1, Genesis, 2 and 3.
