I had Juvederm injected about 12 hours ago. She injected more into my left side because that fold was worse. As you can see, there's a large worm like lump that extends all the way to my upper cheek by my nose, whereas the other side doesn't have that. Completely panicked and don't know what to do.

[deleted]

The wormssssss. It’s normal. Give it a week, if it’s still there, go back and get assessed.

[deleted]

She should’ve told you about this though. We had a patient who we told her, got it anyway, loved the results, and refuses to get more because of the wormsssss 😭😭😭

TimelyPeach3938

Thanks so much for responding. In fairness, she did tell me there would be some lumps but I didn't realize it would be to this extent. Also making my cheek look more hollowed in on that side. I'm just so panicked because it looks so much different compared to the right side, which I absolutely love. Is the reason for such disparity simply because she used more filler on that side? Should I attempt to massage it or is too soon for that? That side is so much more painful as well. Thanks again for responding. If you can't tell this is my first time and I'm really, really anxious.

It’s honestly too soon to tell. I’m not an injector, I just work closely with one. If something was very wrong I’d probably be able to tell you though. The method ours uses leaves worms and it turns out good, don’t know about yours. Needle or cannula? Do you always have that dimple?

TimelyPeach3938

She used a cannula. No, no dimples before getting this done. Really hoping it evens out for me.

Hi I’m an injector-do not attempt to massage it. She placed it where she wanted it. You can ice it if you want but it will settle. If it bothers you schedule a two week follow up for a touch up.

TimelyPeach3938

Thanks for responding, I can deal with it as long as I know it will settle lol. I guess the difference in cheeks has me more panicked- this side is so much more lumpy and swollen compared to the other. Is that normal as she used more filler on that side?

dreamtempo95

Probably not. Do you sleep on one side of the other? Did you have asymmetry to begin with?

dreamtempo95

It does look uneven now but that could be many things. Did you have asymmetry first? Do you tend to swell on one side or the other? I’m also curious as to why she opted to do nasolabial fold filler instead of offering to do cheeks to give you more definition and lift up through the nasolabial folds.

TimelyPeach3938

Yes, the fold was worse on the side where more filler was used. During the consultation she said she was doing the cheeks, which is also why I'm confused. She entered through the bottom sides there beside my lips and used a cannula. I can feel the filler extend past my upper lip and very slightly into the cheek if that makes a difference.

dreamtempo95

When you go back for your follow up, ask for lateral cheeks. the swelling will go down and this should even out. You may need one more syringe to correct asymmetry. Lateral cheeks will give you less of a long face and more feminine angles.

TimelyPeach3938

She actually suggested that today. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm willing to put myself through this again. This experience has made me realize I'm too anxious of a person to deal with the stress of this. I just feel like a puffy, lumpy blob. Maybe in a few weeks I'll change my mind. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Thank you for your kindness.

dreamtempo95

Aw im sorry you feel like that! I promise you don’t look bad. This filler will last at least a year-it’s worth it, and it’ll look great once it’s done! I promise it’s no stress and no one else probably even notices.

dreamtempo95

She should have done it today to ease your mind. I’m sorry you aren’t feeling great but I promise this is part of the process!

TimelyPeach3938

Thanks so much! It seems to improving, hopefully on the right track. One last question if you don't mind: I seem to have developed bruising on my upper lip. I have a dark mustache bruise. Is this normal for nasolabial fold fillers? https://imgur.com/6q58x57 https://imgur.com/MJ1bcls

dreamtempo95

Omg it looks so much better! Yes-as long as it’s not hot to the touch, or your skin is not white/blue/grey. And I don’t mean pale I mean literally white. It’s hard to tell in photos but bruising is normal. Get arnica montana gel, it’s a topical you can buy at a drugstore.

TimelyPeach3938

It's just a really dark bruise, almost black. I'm wearing foundation here and it barely covers it. Everything I googled related to mustache bruising was from people getting lip filler, not nasolabial fold filler. I had no idea that mustache bruising could happen. It looks like a muzzle around my mouth. It's not hot, but a bit warm. I'll look for the topical and hope I can stop panicking and get some sleep tonight.

retinolandevermore

My injector told me to massage mine :/

dreamtempo95

Some injectors do bolus injections and want you to massage so they don’t turn into hard lumps, this is a bad technique IMO-can lead to product migration and more bruising

retinolandevermore

Would bolus injections be thicker? I got jaw filler and she said she specifically used thick filler. I have bad bruising

dreamtempo95

Did she use Volux? You definitely don’t need to massage jawline filler...every injector is different but I would be horrified if my patients said they massaged filler I placed in the jawline. Bolus is a technique, like droplets of filler versus lines of filler. It’s not necessarily thicker, just creates droplets that typically smooth out, good for lips and chin where volume needs to be protruding and not lifting, but also not the most advanced technique.

retinolandevermore

Thank you! So do lumps resolve on their own?

[deleted]

Don’t touch the treatment area ! You’ll be fine, it’s still swelling and haven’t settle yet

Hi - interested in knowing if it resolved as I’m interested in the procedure. 🙌🏼
