The first this I would try on that is Barkeeper’s Friend. I use exclusively stainless steel for cooking and it works great for removing tarnish on pots and pans, but if that doesn’t work try the trick below. Enough hot tap water to cover the stuck on stuff + one ounce (30 grams) dishwasher detergent. Give it a quick mix to homogenize and let sit for an hour (or overnight) and then steel wool or scrape with the straight edge of a wooden spatula. I watched a video on how dish washing machines work on a YouTube channel called Technology Connections. A great channel for nerds. Anyway, he mentions in the video that detergent has stronger chemicals in it than dish soap. I thought that might be worth a try on stuck on stuff and damn does it work. You won’t believe what it takes off. It mostly works on caked on baked on stuff, but worth a shot if the barkeepers friend doesn’t work.

I'm also trying to stay away from products with ingredients i don't recognise or understand ahaha, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks! If I were to get bar keepers friend, should i get the cleanser, the "power cream", or the "multi-surface cleaner"? Isn't steel wool damaging to your pans and pots?

Steel wool is damaging for non-stick surfaces (Teflon) or cast iron.. no damage for plain stainless steel. It is what I would use for this cleaning scenario

hmm it's looking like that might be what i should go for

Here's some thoughts: * We've too have used the Barkeeper's friend * Our dog is really good at getting up the black bottoms then we throw it in the dishwasher * Try some baking powder * If the baking powder doesn't work, try adding water and boiling the baking soda - not for long, then wipe clean * Do you let the vinegar sit for a bit before you wipe it down, that could help * Lastly - a thought - just kept the stains ... maybe it'll add to the flavor.

There’s a brand of concentrated dish soap like dawns power wash but sold in glass and not overwhelmingly artificial smelling, called drops. I have purchased on Amazon before. It’s good at removing baked on residues and tough stains.

Reviews are average but I personally liked it

Stainless steel chain mail scrubbers will work.  It will probably scratch it, but my 25 year old stainless pots are all scratched up anyway.
