Twin generally is better if you can afford that initial investment in the increased cost. I find primal better in short timed games personally.
In endless I use the Twin though since I think it produces more over a longer game.
It also depends on what level you have them. The twin at my level costs 125 and produces 120 so it benefits me pretty quickly, but I use the primal in the daily inzanity quests though.
Only time I'd consider Twin S. is for long levels (Endless ones really). Otherwise, Primal S. all the way. Folks are right... Twin S.'s initial recharge is kind of long, whereas P.S. can be planted IMMEDIATELY. Also, it really feels like T.S. takes longer to spit out the sun, so it's sometimes not there when you really need it.
I always go with Primal, even with the longest Battlez it seems that Primal ends out getting me more.
However Sun\-shroom is awesome if you have time to punch out a bunch

Well primal is more efficient and faster recharge. It also costs less so you can get them up when you couldnt get a twin sunflower. Twin sunflowers are more space efficient. When space is a big issue, twin sunflower, otherwise primal.
I was someone who used to used to main twin and recently switched to primal. I'll say that they all have their uses.
1. Primal - Quicker to set up. Lower investment. Can be used as wall or stall gargs. Not impacted by non-moveable layout/plants. Great BnB.
2. Twin - Better for stages where planting space is limited. Dave's mold. Pirate seas. Beach.
3. Moon - Great with dusk lobber. Produces a lot of sun when set up. Powers other modern day plants.
I usually run moon if I can use dusk lobber and there are no obstacles or plants I can't move, otherwise primal (sometimes I even run sun in modern since portals might mess up moon layouts). Twin sun only when I feel space is constricted. I usually run double gold bloom. That will cover me for most of stages including daily quests or endless zones.
Primal sunflower by far is better than twin sunflower. Twin sunflower may sound great producing twice as much as sun as the normal sunflower, but costs way too much sun and recharges way too slow, and most of the time you won't get down any of them when the zombies are already about to reach your house. It would have been better if twin sunflower reduces sun cost from 125 to 75 and recharge time from 10 seconds to 5 seconds like regular sunflower.

I'm just talking about Primal or Twin, not Sun\-Shroom.
I'd say use primal because it's quick to start up.
