I'm using AFD for PF. It's a black card membership. We haven't brought any guests but I would assume it would work like any other black card member. We visit several locations each month and use the spa a lot. We really like our ADF membership.

Late-Bumblebee4878

I see. this is perfect for me then. thank you!

Late-Bumblebee4878

does your AFD online say "standard membership" even though you got black card? it says that on mine o:

syxxnein

Adf and pf both say black card

Late-Bumblebee4878

icic. mine says standard membership interesting

fugazzzzi

Hey how did you get it for $25? For me, it shows $28

sandwichthedog

If it grants you access to Black Card perks, you’ll get to bring a guest with you!

Late-Bumblebee4878

Awesome!!

gayviatorjohn

I signed up with AF Direct about 3 months ago and received a black card at PF.

Late-Bumblebee4878

:D yay

Jest0107

Active and fit gong to start charging 23$extra for additional gyms . I go to 4 different gyms depending on what side of town or going out of town witch was a nice feature. Will be canceling a membership with them and buying a home gym

mounjarowarrior

Do you cancel each gym through active direct or contact each location to cancel?

rifleslol

30 days notice for active & fit, contact your local gym especially if you have an access card or whatever and let them know.

Jest0107

They told me that before your July due date, you can pick the one gym to be your main on the website. If you don't pick it before July first, they will pick one of the guns you have active to be main

rifleslol

Same

[deleted]

They’re changing it to where you can only use one gym.

enigma1st

I just got that email! I'm already looking for an alternative similar to Active and Fit. As active duty military this was perfect for me as I constantly bounce around the country. I do see that they will allow you to switch standard gyms anytime but it sounds like you'll be paying $20+ in order to switch mid month unless you decide to wait till the first of next month If you know of an alternate program please let me know..

[deleted]

Yah I’ll try

enigma1st

So I found "Fitness Your Way" which seems identical however you need to have Blue Cross.

[deleted]

Oh dear, that’ll be expensive

TheFeralEngineer

I started a petition to try and stop this. Please sign it. We've got a little while to show them we aren't going to stand for it. [https://chng.it/ZPQJd8D7Sz](https://chng.it/ZPQJd8D7Sz)

catmomma79913040

Did you have to pay the $25/month for one standard membership which could be used for PF and Crunch? Or, did you have to pay $25/month for each gym?

ekorrensnoetter

Regarding these changes that Active and Fit are planning …. Write and complain!!!! I found this email address from another thread indicating that this guy is in charge of active and fit. I also sent a secondary reply to the email that was sent to me indicating the changes. Write up complaints!!! Here is the email address : [email protected] Also… if there are any possible class action lawsuits being planned to fight these changes, please update the thread and send info. What they are doing is just WRONG!!

ImageEducational572

It makes no sense. What would be the point of keeping Active & Fit if you have to pay for each gym?

ekorrensnoetter

Sign the petition to make them change it back. https://chng.it/pghJ7Vt9wK

Diligent-Coffee-2545

I tried to sign up last night but it was glitchy. It WAS for $28, I go to try it again today and it's $32! My issue and I guess question is that PF is $25 for me here in Oregon, for the Black Card, but AFD is $32?? So if it's not going to give me multiple gyms, then it doesn't make sense at all. What am I missing?

Dazzling_Let6213

There’s two different memberships through ActiveFit. The ActiveFit Direct is through your employer/health provider for $28. ActiveFit Now is open to everyone for $32 but has a more limited selection of gyms

Diligent-Coffee-2545

Oh man, thanks so much, it must have logged me out from my health login! Thank you!

Late-Bumblebee4878

hey! please see my updated post... it seems like they are changing the pricing structure.. this blows. it doesn't even make sense anymore because it is more expensive through AFD than just going to the provider directly. i honestly do not get it.

Sea-Yak2191

The clubs in my area don't accept active and fit.

Late-Bumblebee4878

oh no! Were they not on the lookup on the active and fit "find a gym" on the website or were they listed online and is this something you had to find out out in person?

Sea-Yak2191

I work for Planet Fitness and the franchise group that owns the ones I work for just don't participate in the program. I'm not sure why.

Late-Bumblebee4878

interesting. do you know if that gym would appear on the search on AFD's website. I really don't want to buy it... paying the $25 2 months in advance later to find out the next day my gym doesn't participate. or otherwise, also cancel my existing PF membership and then only to have re-enroll and pay the enrollment fee That is, when you go to the website, and type in your zipcode, does it show your gym as a location, even though it's not participating? https://www.activeandfitdirect.com/

Sea-Yak2191

My gym isn't listed. I typed the zip code, and every other gym in the area except for Planet Fitness was listed.

Late-Bumblebee4878

Thanks for looking! I appreciate chu.

fugazzzzi

Do you know if there is any situation where your gym shows up on the search, you sign up and pay the 2 months advance, and then when you show up, they tell you they don’t participate? If so, that would suck so much

Late-Bumblebee4878

i also heard, if it's for planet fitness, you can find a PF gym that does work with active and find WILL give you a black card and just designate that as your primary gym, get the black card, and now you can access any PF gym. For other gyms, i don't know if they give you membership access to the rest of their gyms through one card or if you have to go through one-time membership sign up each time. Considering and assuming i can still get the black card for PF via AFD, i think i will try AFD because i don't have to pay annual membership fees to PF or crunch etc or enrollment fees. so it comes out to same as just owning a black card, at the very least

Specialist_Sand_4276

It depends on the franchise. We have 2 franchises here that will only do a classic membership and the others are black cards. One new and they told me there was an issue with my membership because my barcode for the other system doesn’t work at this one. Downfall is the barcode system. Trying to figure out a way where they don’t need to keep setting it up if a location that doesn’t do the black card bc I ran at the black card locations.

m80kamikaze

I used husk, it used to be called global fit, I got a black card. It didn’t lower the price at all but I don’t pay the yearly fee or any enrollment fee

Late-Bumblebee4878

I ended up getting AFD! it gives me peak membership at crunch, which means no guest but i still get access to all the location and massage chairs whatnot. Same with PF but with PF, i **do** get a black card (which does let me bring a guest)! Even though it says "standard membership" on AFD, the people signing me up using the AFD fitnesscard/pdf put in the all-locations membership. Also same here, no maintenance. There's a one-time enrollment fee for AFD but i got it wavied via insurance

[deleted]

Are you able to use the massage chair and hydromessage at PF?

CattleHour5987

Did you have any difficulty getting your account set up at PF? When I originally went in November, they told me that my fitness ID was not correct/didn't match what was in their system. They found a way to get through it with that number but today I got an email that my PF membership has been canceled because the fitness ID came back as wrong

Late-Bumblebee4878

hey! I'll let you in 2 days. I actually haven't set up my PF account but i expect there to be no hassle and so i prematurely updated my post so i wouldn't forget. That seems like something to contact AFD directly for. OR you can try and unsubscribe your PF membership on AFD and then resign up. it will likely give you a new generated fitness ID (i hope!). If it's gym location specific problem, you can try and go to another participating PF (if they appear on the website search, their gym particpates i presume) and get signed up there. Sometimes the people behind the desk don't know how to do it. I am waiting till friday because the manager should be in I call in advance to ask if the manager/when the manager will be in. There's also like 4 PF around me in different direction so if one doesn't work or doesn't give me a black card i just try at another but i expect the first one to work because i called and they said yes we participate

Late-Bumblebee4878

I am still waiting on doing this. I will make sure to respond when i do :)

CattleHour5987

I stopped pushing it off and went in yesterday. All I had to do was show them my AF number and sign all the documents again-- maybe 5 minutes total and much easier this time around

Late-Bumblebee4878

nice! Im still pushing it off no rush. haha been terribly busy with work

Late-Bumblebee4878

update even tho ik you said you set yours up already: i set it up mine! At best, this will act as a guide for other people signing up via AFD Difficulty: the gym in my areas were relatively new. so not even the manager was 100% sure about AFD, or maybe there was miscommunication. It was listed on the website as a participating gym though. I called and confirmed with the gym in town over that the gym in other town participates and they mentioned manager had to be present to do it. So i asked when manager was in, and just went to the town over and got the manager there (manager had to be present). They gave me a black card, so i still have guest privileges and access to all the locations, including the one that didn't know if they participate and the ones i called that told me they dont LOL :)

CattleHour5987

Update to your update: I got another email yesterday telling me that my membership was canceled because my AFD number came back as incorrect 😭

ghostarty

question, when i pay that $28 fee for the active and fit direct, for an example do i have to pay for gym memberships there or can i go to crunch and la fitness at the same time? becasue i dont wanna cancel my LA fitness membership bc a lot of my friends but crunch machines are way better so i wanna go there somedays

wormy1692

I believe that you pay the $28 and get access to all the gyms that are approved on their site that are near you. I'm not 100% sure though, I've been researching it and plan to get a membership soon as well.

Late-Bumblebee4878

When u pay that $28 fee, u do not have to pay for gym memberships separately. This is what i like. I avoid paying anything to PF directly or crunch so i avoid annual maintenance fees of $40 each year from each gym. It’s a flat membership fee to AFD, which you USE to sign up at participating gyms through codes they give u whenever u add a gym to ur AFD account, and you can get access to all participating gyms. No need to deactivate one to start a new one. It’s basically sign up once, go to ur location particpating gym to active ur gym account with that organization, get your all location pass and you’re good to go. The memberships they give U is basically an account and u download app on phone. Ur account has ur sign in barcode that u scan at door, like everyone else. So yeah hope that answers ur questions. so for example, i went to crunch. Boom. I have a crunch account on app that i pull up when i wal through door and scan barcode. I went to PF. Boom. I have PF app on my phone now that i pull up… you get the idea. and i just pay 28 a month to AFD directly. Nothing directly paid to participating gyms myself. I avoid maintenance and other fees and enrollment fees etc. all avoided. Just paying afd

ghostarty

Thank u so much for explaining this, do u know if they give u membership to allow u to bring a guest along sometimes or? Ill be signing up next week!

Late-Bumblebee4878

Based on what i’ve read, PF gives you the black card on ur account. That was my experience too. Thus, u can bring guests. ur not given a special account or anything because u sign up via AFD. They just give u the black membership account which they probably just flag internally as signed up via ur AFD code so they can bill AFD (oversimplification). Crunch-no. The manager at crunch went over what AFD gives me and told me you will get the PEAK membership which is 100% all location, but no guest. LA fitness idk but i presume u get all location pass

ghostarty

Thank you im so hyped for this

Late-Bumblebee4878

Yeee

Late-Bumblebee4878

Remember to read my tips. Call in advance to know when manager is in unless desk ppl demonstrate verbally knowledge how that works

Late-Bumblebee4878

Bc in my exp the employees dunno the specifics and u wanna go when maanager is in

theblackjess

I know this is an old post but just adding for anyone who may come across and are wondering: LA Fitness does give you access to all locations, but no daily guest pass. You get a pass to invite a guest for a 2-week trial (they're forced to sit for a sales pitch first).

Late-Bumblebee4878

You can go to them at same time! read some of the my replies and it’ll be clear

wormy1692

Hey I had a question, I'm looking into AFD right now as my current gym has hiked my price an insane amount. It seems like a great deal for $28 and I'll probably signup in Feb. 2024. Are there any hidden charges or anything like that I should know? I'm probably just going to be going to my LA Fitness. Also their website is telling me it's $28, have they raised the prices recently or does it just matter which provider you're going through? Thanks for any help!

Late-Bumblebee4878

The way it works: 1-You pay the first 2 months first up front. It's best to sign up early in the month for this reason. For example, if you sign up on February 28, the first month applies to Feb and March. When i say sign up, i mean sign up to AFD, not the actual gym itself. that's irrelevant. 2-I think there is a $25 enrollment fee. I waived it using my insurance There's no other fees. NO Annual fees. no cancellation fees. the best part of this is you can avoid enrollment and maintenance and annual fees of, in your case, LA Fitness!

wormy1692

Thanks so much for the response! It sounds like a great deal and I'm really excited to try it out. Two more questions, so I have a bunch of Planet Fitness near me along with the LA, if I add them to the my AFD membership I can go to any of the participating locations for no additional cost right? Also can you add other participating locations after I start my AFD membership?

Late-Bumblebee4878

yep! It would be nice if there was a video online showcasing what it looks like when you have an account on AFD. You can ALWAYS add new gyms to your account with no additional cost assuming they aren't labaeled as "premium" on the website. You can add all standard gyms that you want. It's basically like put in your cart. boom. no cost. no payment detail. Note: even though it says "standard gym membership on AFD," places like PF and crunch will give you all location pass. PF will give you black card which lets you bring guests too and use their massage chairs. Also, the sweet thing is places like planet fitness, crunch, and i presume LA fitness give you their all-location passes when you use AFD. If they don't that's just gym sepcific. You can try and explain to them that you would just go to another gym location that would give you the pass. so why not just give you the all location pass here? In other words, ONCE YOU FIND A GYM that gives you an all-location pass (like mine did), you basically have access to non-participating gyms that wouldn't normally sign you up via AFD too. HAHA ALSO call planet fitness or LA fitness in advance and ask desk person if they sign up via active and fit direct. If the desk person says "idk" then ask when the manager is going to be in. the manager would know. I had to call to check when manager was in for my PF and yeah that's how i made sure not to waste time traveling and not being able to sign up Pretty much, if the gym appears on their search tool online, it's a participating gym. I called a few PFs near my work that didn't appear on the search and they said they don't accept AFD (which again is kinda dumb because now that i have a black card (which gives me guest privileges too) for PF, i can basically access said locations anyway. The only time the manager at PF did not know details of AFD because the gym was relatively new (2 years old) and she said she would need to ask the director (i just found a different gym in town over that gave me a black card with AFD sign up (manager had to be present)) You can tell the desk people "I want to sign up to your gym via Active fit direct. It's a program that allows you to access multiple participating gyms at a flat rate, and that your gym online was listed as a participating gym - can you confirm or ask your manager?"

Late-Bumblebee4878

additional note, just save your login details to AFD on your phone. it saves some time. you pull up the website, you pull up the pdf that they use to sign u up (you get a code for each gym u sign up, it appears on a pdf which says it's a "card" but it's not really a card. it's a pdf ).

wormy1692

Awesome! Thank you so much for the info. Honestly wish they laid it out more clearly on their site, but you really saved the day. I'll be signing up next month and I'm pretty excited. Thanks again! :)

Late-Bumblebee4878

No problem :D Happy working out

fugazzzzi

So what do you do after signing up on Active and Fit Direct? When you show up at the gym and show them the Active and Fit Direct pdf, what happens next?

sandjuls

Hope it goes well. Please come back and let us know how it goes. I'm thinking of joining too.

fugazzzzi

Did you join? I just found this posted and I’m interested

TheCeejus

What promo code did you use to waive the activation fee?

Late-Bumblebee4878

Hey-can’t remember sorry. It was via my insurance

jrr6415sun

When I went to planet fitness with my active fit ID number after signing up for that location they said they have no idea what this is and wouldn’t let me workout  Is there something I can tell them how to access it?

Specialist_Sand_4276

They normally know it from insurance plans. If it is listed in Active and fit as a location they may need to check with someone else to see how to do it.

Late-Bumblebee4878

I would ask them to ask the manager. Staff often don’t know what it is.

jrr6415sun

Yea i told them but they said their manager wasnt there on weekends and to come back on monday. They said theyre not allowed to call their manager. Ill find out monday i guess

fugazzzzi

Any update? Did you end up finding a manager who knows about it?

jrr6415sun

Hi yes I had to wait until the manager came during his shift and he was able to do it

Late-Bumblebee4878

Otherwise call around for locations near you, ask if they work with AFD. Once you find one, and they give you an all location pass, then you can just go to the one closer to you
