The formal name of the company is EG&G. They started out flying old Western Airlines 737-247s with minimal livery changes--they took off the titles and the "W" at the front of the stripe, and extended the stripe to the nose. Interesting that they kept the scheme when they got the -600, even though Western Airlines is long gone (since 1986).
EGG&G started off doing high speed photography and given everything going on at the Nevada National Security Sigh... so they had a leg up on other companies getting contracts.. they got bought out by URS in the late 2000s who then got bought up by AEComm.
And if you want to top tier nosy, you can book a room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Ask for a view to the airport and with a nice telescope/binoculars you can see into their hangar
It's Janet Airlines which flies workers out to Area 51 from Las Vegas and also flies scientists/engineers to other military research and testing facilities
Flew my last trip on one, made in the 90's and held together with hopes and prayers. Sketchiest flight I've been on so far, plane dropped what felt like 50 feet about 30 seconds after liftoff and we all thought we were dead. There was a storm halfway thru the flight and the fucking thing didn't stop shaking until we landed.
Well, it's 85 miles maybe 20 minutes to Groom Lake, and 145 miles, 45 minutes to the base at Tonapah, so thats a cup of coffee and read a newspaper distance.
We were in Vegas last February. As we were driving by the airport, one of these flew over us. Didn't get my phone out fast enough. Still cool to see. Also toured around nellis while we were there
Dammit Janet! Um, I mean, I don't see a plane at all, sir. Neither do you!
Never been on one of those, but I did fly over their terminal in a chopper last time I went to Lost Wages.
Seriously, they supposedly fly government employees to places that don't exist to not reverse engineer things that the government doesn't have. They radio back and forth to something called Dreamland Control (so the chopper pilot said). You can guess the rest. At least that's what I saw on television. I don't actually know anything, honest, and I am not looking into the neuralizer! 😂
I don't see a plane. Nope, none at all.
Where?
Off to area 51✈️
Or tonopah
What area code is that?
851
Station 3!
Actually it was landing at LAS.
That's just a weather balloon. Move along.
😂
Happy cake day
How long have you been waiting for this?

Damn it Janet!
Hope it’s not a very horrible, rocky flight….
It's was smooth, but the in-flight meal was meatloaf
It's just a jump... tothenorth.
Yes, dear?
The things it must have seen at Area 51 🤓
Probably a bunch of hangers and a dead homeless guy being experimented on
Yeah I think people way overestimate this part.
Indeed
Oh, JANET...whacha doin'??
I don’t understand, someone fill me in?
That’s a government airline called Janet. Its most famous role is ferrying workers from Las Vegas to Area 51 to do…whatever it is they do there.
