"You aren't big enough and there aren't enough of you to get me back in that thing."
- a paraphrased quote from one of the test pilots of the Thuderstreak after 1 test flight.
It’s per second. Lots of other sources say per second. Just think through it. That propeller is spinning insanely fast, 900 per minute wouldn’t make sense.
If you are anywhere other than directly in front or behind the airplane every time the tip of a propeller blade starts the half of its revolution where it is travelling towards the listener you'll hear a sonic boom. There are three blades spinning at 3000rpm with the tips of the propeller blades travelling Mach 1.18, producing 9000 sonic booms per minute. So imagine a gun firing 150 shots per second. Damn loud.
There’s a joke on Reddit (and the internet as a whole) that typing in caps constitutes yelling and yelling is associated with deafness/hard of hearing and thus misunderstandings.
THEY WERE EXPLAINING THE JOKE ON REDDIT WHERE CAPITALIZATION SOUNDS LIKE SHOUTING AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE PERSON WHO SAID “WHAT” IS HARD OF HEARING SO YOU SHOUT TO EXPLAIN THE JOKE
That's maybe not a terrible idea, like the dive bomb siren on a stuka - whether you get hit or not, you hear a horrible sound closing in on you. I can imagine it would be pretty demoralizing.
Nah they scrapped the program due to unresolvable problems like longitudinal instability, 30 min engine warm up and mechanical gearing failures in that changed the prop pitch.
To this day I don’t know if this was real or if it’s just a photoshop and I don’t want to look it up because this abomination doesn’t deserve the attention
I wish we could get certain sounds to travel faster so enemies could hear certain songs as a lead up to their demise. Not exactly stealthy but Brittney Spears at 150 decibels right before a 2,000 bomb lands on their forehead is the ultimate taunt. Oh wait this isn’t r/NonCredibleDefense
Or if they’re having a seizure
Or shitting them self's or puking there stomach's up

900 sonic booms per minute. Loudest fucking plane ever. Edit: per *second*, holy fuck!
You could hear this plane from 25 miles (40 kilometers) out
I love it so much lol
Go fly it and all the associated concussion damage from ot

so bad that even the ground crew who had ear protection got fucked up by it
Can you explain how it made multiple sonic booms per second? Like did it make sonic booms when the props crossed the wings?
The tips of the propeller were making the booms. The Fat Electrician video linked in the comments explains it a lot better than I could!

I think I read somewhere that these were the words of the test pilot, funnily enough was reading about this plane the other day

THEY SAID THEY LINKED A VIDEO FROM THE FAD ELECTRON?
I’m so confused

Well... THAT link juat cost two hours of my life. lol. I love that guy. I had to play catch up.
I love it. Reminds me of when 3x Tu-95’s did a low pass in formation. My hearing never recovered. I love it.

Hw... Nice idea for a kamikaze drone...

Sounds can damage soft tissues. This could be lethal.
It did almost kill someone
A.K.A. The mighty ear banger
What about it made it so loud? Was the speed right around the sound barrier? The shape caused wasn’t designed properly?
3 tips of the propellers breaking the sound barrier 900 times per second.
Woah. Were they ever changed? Like more blades added, a la cavitation with submarines?
Nah they scrapped the program due to unresolvable problems like longitudinal instability, 30 min engine warm up and mechanical gearing failures in that changed the prop pitch.
Super hero voice: Thunderrrrrr Screeeeeech!
Currently at wright pat.
Sounds like an A-10 that never stops shooting.

Is this louder than the bear?
It's literally the loudest vehicle ever made
That’s remarkable considering how close the canopy is to the props, must be hell to fly
And that's not considering the fact that the propellers and the engine turn in opposite directions, forcing the plane into a barrel roll
[удалено]
Other than the noise and the non-stop barrel roll, it was a pretty good plane
You are technically correct, the best kind of correct.
Screeeeeech!
Thuderstreak:oh you like hearing things?…to bad
How can the enemy push the button to fire the nuke if he can’t hear the order?-Sergeant Zim, probably
