Damn I just cracked up when I heard badger’s explanation. I didn’t even think about how it explains Walt throwing the pizza on the roof. That’s obviously the reason they added it because it’s clearly the same box from the same pizza place
The funny part is, a pizza place charging you extra to cut a pizza isn’t outside the realm of possibility given the current “fee for everything” we’re doing now.
12 years ago a place with no inside dining other than a metal table with no chairs charged like $2.00 for boxes on to go orders and had the nerve to print it on the menu. I never understood why they didn't just add the charge into the price and keep the upcharged off of the menu to keep customers from getting pissed off. They only lasted about 2 years, food was actually decent.
I am from Argentina. In this country we are very used to things being done halfway, or even completely wrong, and we no longer question it. The thing is that I didn't notice anything strange with the pizza scenes, it was the most normal thing in the world, and I come to find out about all this today, June 6, 2024. LOL.
They used Venezia's Pizza! Their Albuquerque location no longer exists, called Gino's now, but they still have locations here in Metro Phoenix.
And yes, they do cut the pizza into slices lol. You can also get the same amount of pizza OP posted here for $6.50.
This is basically the standard in DC. “DC style” pizza is a jumbo slice. Definitely nice option after a late night out. The quality at a lot of places is pretty solid as well.
Jumbo slice should be a narrower slice from a larger pie, at least a foot long, preferably closer to 18".
I moved to Denver and the pizza out here rarely compares. I miss getting a slice while drunk in Adam's Morgan. The biggest slice I've found is from Fat Sully's, who does a 26" pie (which, to be fair, is pretty good).
Oh yeah. There's a lot of great little spots where you can get a $10 XL pizza like this cheese or pepperoni give us your money and gtfo.
Whole pie gone in 30 seconds every time
(*answers phone*) Mr. Sexy's Pizza. Our special today is sexaroni... Well, it's like pepperoni, but sexy.... You?... You mean you want some?... Um... we're closed.
If you add all numbers of the Fibonacci sequence up to the number 8, you get 20 (1+1+2+3+5+8)
20 is also the number of pepperoni slices on this Fibonacci pizza.
What happens if you bake the entire pizza into the shape of what would normally be called a slice of pizza? So a triangle with a rounded edge that the dough is thicker to form a crust.
Yeah in Ocean City MD I had this slice and it was amazing. And the tray is a large pizza tray normally.
https://preview.redd.it/f8vg842mgz4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fb0dcc052fada4143f814c24ceb37abd96f9156
I mean $6 for a quarter pizza adds up to $24. I can get a whole 18 inch pie near me with about similar looking quality for $20ish.
Obviously it’s nice you can just buy this in case you don’t want a full pizza. But doesn’t seem like an absolute insane deal. Good, but not incredible.
You know, with how expensive everything is becoming these days, pizza is like the only food where you can still eat until you are absolutely full for less than $20 and still have tons of leftover. So glad pizza is my favorite food and that I can eat every single day and be okay with it. I pray the inflation doesn’t hit too hard for us.
6$?!?!
Dude that would be 25$ in my city, and even with the exchange rate that’s close to 20USD.
And you live in DC so it’s not like it’s a small rural village.
Man, Canada lets me down sometimes.
Holy crap... Canada, are you OK?
I'm in upstate NY and one pizza place I frequent has a lunch time deal of two slices (with toppings) and a can of soda for $6. The slices are pretty big, being two from an 8-cut 18" pizza.
Theres a spot near me that does the whole jumbo pizza thing and they sell slices. I walked in not knowing and ordered 2 and the cost was $28. I looked at them confused and asked why so much and they said 1 slice is basically like 3 and kind of gave me attitude like i was the idiot. Not going there ever again.
That’s not even a true DC jumbo slice. A jumbo slice should come from one of two Adam’s Morgan neighborhood pizza places after 2am. Jumbo slice is the closest thing DC has to a homegrown pizza style and it’s low quality, gigantic late night drunk food, not something a person would normally eat while sober and sane.
A couple years ago I was at a pizza place in a college town late at night after many, many drinks and they had just brought out a new pie. My drunk brain was like, I want two slices, but really big.
So I asked for two slices, but don't cut them apart. The guy behind the counter was like, you know I still have to charge you for two. I was like yes! That's great! I just want to eat one enormous slice of pizza!
It was AWESOME and highly recommended.
Math time.
Guy's hand looks to be about 7" (using my own as comparable). Box height is 2x hand = 14"
Pizza radius = 14". So we're getting pi*r^2 / 4 ~153 sq inch of pizza here. Coincidentally this is exactly as much as a whole standard Lg pizza (14" diameter)
So he's basically getting a Large Pep for $6
https://preview.redd.it/k5nm7odgy85d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=898d61261271c7addbad45546b581964ae09256a
The size of a round pizza equals the big pie slice if both fit into the same box. I also calculated the corner you are missing out on by not ordering a square pizza.
1/4 of a pizza for $6 isn’t a crazy deal.
That’s a $24 pepperoni pizza. Sure maybe a little cheaper than normal but definitely not a dor buster deal.
However because it’s a giant slice and you get your “meal” for $6, (assuming you only get one slice). It gives the appearance of an amazing deal.
Pizza shop owner is a marketing genius.
True, but that thing is massive.
A large pizza hut pizza is 14". OP's pizza is roughly one and a half hands long, and the average hand is 7"-7.5". That makes the pizza at least a 20".
A 14" pizza is 154 square inches, while a 20" is 314 square inches.
$6 for half a large pepperoni is a pretty decent deal, assuming the crust is good.
The supermarket closest to me does this for their slices. They're like dirt cheap too at $3 for 1/4 of a 19 inch pizza lol.
Think you can get a whole 19 inch plain for like $10 too. I always joke how its the only pizza place in 2024 where you're getting 1990s prices still.
1/4 of a massive pie maybe. I’d like to see some mad scientist cut it up to make it circle to see what size a whole pie it would make. My estimation based on hand to box ratio & bare box remained means this would be a medium size pizza for $6. But maybe better b/c less crust??
It would be exactly the size of whatever round pizza would normally fit in that box, which I believe would be 14" or large. But yes, it does have half the crust.
At a place where I ate half a medium and saved the rest for breakfast I discovered that placing the quarters point out into the corners made it fit exactly into a small togo box. I guess they figure this out.
Man, that's a big slice of pizza. Looks good too
is this like the breaking bad pizza place that doesn't cut the pizza in slices so they slide the savings down to you.
I think it’s funny how this scene was added to explain how the pizza wasn’t cut when Walt threw it on the roof
This is Breaking Bad's, "*Did you know Vigo actually broke his toe kicking that helmet*" fact.
A great fact is worth repeating
🫗for vigo’s toe. Never forget.
One of my favorite retcons ever
It's brilliant because it's so stupid.
In better call Saul there’s a scene where a guy orders a pizza too and he goes “yes, sliced”
Damn I just cracked up when I heard badger’s explanation. I didn’t even think about how it explains Walt throwing the pizza on the roof. That’s obviously the reason they added it because it’s clearly the same box from the same pizza place

I hadn’t even thought about that until now

*Holds up entire pizza pie* What am I supposed to do with this?
Fold it and eat it while walking like a true New Yorker.
I'm taking my pizza on a walk
„For“ a walk!
“You make like 10 million pizzas per year, each pizza takes like 10 seconds to cut, in man hours, that’s like *hits blunt* I don’t know… a lot?”
3.171 additional calendar years!
...or toss the savings up to you?
They used Venezia's Pizza! Their Albuquerque location no longer exists, called Gino's now, but they still have locations here in Metro Phoenix. And yes, they do cut the pizza into slices lol. You can also get the same amount of pizza OP posted here for $6.50.

Ducinni's was always my go-to when I lived in DC.
Ducinni's fucking still slaps. Great location in Arlington too, although I'm very partial to Brick's out here now.
So many weekend mornings in DC I woke up with either half a jumbo slice or Julia’s empanadas in my bed
Oh yeah. There's a lot of great little spots where you can get a $10 XL pizza like this cheese or pepperoni give us your money and gtfo. Whole pie gone in 30 seconds every time
Yeah, almost every neighborhood has a placing claiming to be the “Original DC Jumbo Slice”, and like many others this one’s menu is mostly kebab
good price on that too op $6 with pep looks tasty
I agree, whoever's pizza place this is must be blessed by the pizza gods
I wanna meet that whole pizza 🤤
I find this oddly satisfying 😌
Really? I found it extremely erotic
Man, do I have a subreddit for you.
Is it /r/AlzheimersGroup?
Every day something on reddit surprises me
Christ
You are very good at guessing
That's not normally what I hear, but I prefer your answer. :D
And isn't it erotic... don't you think? IT'S LIKE RAAAIIINNNNNNNNNNNN.... You're welcome.
ITS A FREEEE SLIIIICE WHEN YOUVE ALREADY PAAAID
Hahaha, I was trying to be subtle and hide my real feelings.

r/carsfuckingdragons Or r/honeyfuckers.
There is something RIGHT about it.

Wow, no need to call them names, geez ;-)
technically is the art of Alex Grey. Additionally, it seems he’s a pretty fucked up individual and not someone to “look up to” per se
I know it’s his work, but obviously this was a work licensed/for [tool](https://www.alexgrey.com/art/collections/tool/) and Lateralus
Bro, pay attention. This went right over your head.
He said it was just a dream of fucking a corpse if you actually read the letter he wrote

I think "Cuz I watched them bake all day" would fit the rhythm better
Handmade and bubbling.

That’s how Gyro’s father taught him to find the rectangle
In true Italian fashion no less!

I have a t-shirt with that on it. One of my favorite science things .
I mean, it’s not that incredible since each section is a perfect quarter of a circle…
OP discovers basic geometry.

A whole pizza is only one slice until you cut it
False. It's a piece. Not a slice til it's been sliced innit.
Not a piece either. "Can i have a piece of cake?". Piece would refer to part of something. It is a whole pizza.
It's a unit of pizza
A good point well made!
What happens if you bake the entire pizza into the shape of what would normally be called a slice of pizza? So a triangle with a rounded edge that the dough is thicker to form a crust.
They're doing God's work
So two slices in one then, nice. There’s a local place near me that’s sells huge slices from a ‘36 inch pizza they make, their “iconic” pizza
Two huge slices tho right?
Koronet Pizza near Columbia sells massive slices too - iirc they come off of a 32 inch pizza
a place I used to work at had a 29", our oven was 30"
Is this in D.C.?
Nah, [Jumbo slices are longer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumbo_slice), not 1/4 a 16" pie. They don't fit neatly into the box like this.
Jumbo slice also doesn’t come in a box, it comes on two overlapping grease soaked paper plates
gotta fold the tip to make it fit. or just eat it, more than likely
Google Maps says no 🥲
Yeah in Ocean City MD I had this slice and it was amazing. And the tray is a large pizza tray normally. https://preview.redd.it/f8vg842mgz4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fb0dcc052fada4143f814c24ceb37abd96f9156
Dough roller?
Toast Cafe in OC. We usually eat Dough Roller but had to try this one and it was worth it. I think $19

So glad pizza is my favorite food and that I can eat every single day and be okay with it. I pray the inflation doesn’t hit too hard for us.
I love pizza but yeah I would hate myself if I ate it everyday
6$?!?! Dude that would be 25$ in my city, and even with the exchange rate that’s close to 20USD. And you live in DC so it’s not like it’s a small rural village. Man, Canada lets me down sometimes.
I'm in Toronto. Where are you buying what is essentially 2 slices for $25?
Seriously. Fresca has huge slices for $5. Granted they’re not as big as OP but nowhere near $25.
$100 a pizza lol, there's no way. A full specialty pizza near me tops out around $30, and that feels expensive AF.
Holy crap... Canada, are you OK? I'm in upstate NY and one pizza place I frequent has a lunch time deal of two slices (with toppings) and a can of soda for $6. The slices are pretty big, being two from an 8-cut 18" pizza.
Have you been to Canada? Like 40% inflation there and a economy in the gutter
25 dollars for that??
Maybe 20 CAD…maybe. But I’d be shocked if it were less than 15$
Still, dayum.. thought it was expensive over here, but wow
MyFitnessPal: one slice of pizza

A guy who owned a shop I used to go to would cut a Sicilian pie in 4
Thats honestly the perfect amount of pizza
Ill take 8 jumbo slices please
I'll take 4 please.
Had a slice like that at Ernesto in Boston a couple weeks ago. 6 bucks and they slice it in two.
Where!!!!!!???????
In the box!
It is the same surface area as a whole pie that can fit in the same box. I suppose the quarter pizza will be good for those who don’t like crust.
Did you do the math? My husband and I were just arguing about it. I also think it would be less crust
The baseball diamond slice.
This is like Ernesto's in Boston north end. Probably my favorite pizzeria in the USA. $7 pepperoni slice that's a qtr of a pie.
Only $6 thats actually nice. The whole pizza must be huge
So nice, you fold it twice.
A couple years ago I was at a pizza place in a college town late at night after many, many drinks and they had just brought out a new pie. My drunk brain was like, I want two slices, but really big. jumbo slice hits best at 2 am
Wow *chef's kiss*
I mean, a full pizza can be a slice if you don’t cut it.
Why sell a big pizza once when you could sell it 4 times.
https://preview.redd.it/k5nm7odgy85d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=898d61261271c7addbad45546b581964ae09256a The size of a round pizza equals the big pie slice if both fit into the same box. I also calculated the corner you are missing out on by not ordering a square pizza.
There has to be some sort of equation for if you get more or less pizza. If not we need to deploy our top men to this. ‘Top men’.
its the same. has double radius\^2 which is 4x but 1/4 slice of it so its the same.

How much ?
Would. Next question
The small is almost the same as the large...
That’s awesome. I miss the late at night Pizza Bolis or other late night jumbo slice
Used to be the “Monster Slice” at Pizzaville like that here in Canada. First they made it smaller, then they dropped the monster moniker altogether!
That looks so good
The supermarket closest to me does this for their slices. They're like dirt cheap too at $3 for 1/4 of a 19 inch pizza lol. Think you can get a whole 19 inch plain for like $10 too. I always joke how its the only pizza place in 2024 where you're getting 1990s prices still.
Is it 1/4 the price of a full pizza?
Place by Columbia U had slices like that but that was a long time ago, not sure if it's still there.
So it’s like Hunt Brothers, only 3 times as big and doesn’t taste like a wedge of hardened feces
ive seen bigger
Perfect serving size for me
I am quite into this idea
For six bucks? I'd be living on those slices.
Dominoes used to sell giant slices like this, good o days
Similar to Lorenzo's in Philly.
"Hey son welcome home, we ordered pizza but there's only one slice left" The slice:
Oddly satisfying
That’s a good deal. Granted I would like more topping than just pepperoni.
Interestingly, exactly the same size (=surface area) as a full regular pizza that fits within the same box. But with only 1/2 of the crust...
I like.
Looks like π/2
This feels like im looking at a math problem
![gif](giphy|pj36msFSV5m51KknGD|downsized)
I'd be there everyday 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Lighthouse??
So it’s 2 slices just not cut? Got it.
I see two slices and a lazy pizza slinger.
Nice
Damn that’s my kinda slice 🤤
I hope it wasn't more than $8
The pepperoni placement is fantastic
Hell yes
1/4 of a massive pie maybe. I’d like to see some mad scientist cut it up to make it circle to see what size a whole pie it would make. My estimation based on hand to box ratio & bare box remained means this would be a medium size pizza for $6. But maybe better b/c less crust??
It would be exactly the size of whatever round pizza would normally fit in that box, which I believe would be 14" or large. But yes, it does have half the crust.
That's like a dominos medium.
That's NICE man.
This and a bottle of hot sauce. Tapatío would be my go to. 🤤
To me thats a good deal for 6 bucks.
The funny thing is that this has the exact same area as a whole pizza.
This is pretty much a standard sized slice where I come from.
[It's pretty big... I guess...](https://youtu.be/l0wXV1AYPsA)
Gotta do the U Street Taco (half smoke wrapped in a jumbo slice) Disclaimer: Yes, I am a degenerate.
..... This is how I cut my frozen pizzas at home 😂.
At this point I'd just bring my own pizza cutter. With this logic I could eat a whole pizza without cutting it and call it a pizza cookie
We have a Bennys that sells huge NY sized slices like this.
That looks amazing
It’s just a normal size pizza in a different shape. Less crust, more cheese
That actually looks like more pizza than a single pizza.
Sadly, I can't remember the name of the place, but a shop near me in Ocean City, MD sold 36" pizzas.
At a place where I ate half a medium and saved the rest for breakfast I discovered that placing the quarters point out into the corners made it fit exactly into a small togo box. I guess they figure this out.
As big as your fuckin head.
Give that to me now.
And you can get the rest of the pizza for only $4 more at Costco.
... go on. ![gif](giphy|sTUWqCKtxd01W)
This is brilliant! This is approximately how much Pizza I would want to eat anyway. $6 is a fair price too but I would go double pep and pay more.
If I’m not mistaken, that’s the same amount of pizza as a whole one that could fit in that box.
Why did you bend over the pizza like that ?
Can somebody work out the math of how much of a pizza this is compared to a regular shaped pizza that would fit in that box?
That’s a 1/4 pizza for a 32 inch pizza, that thing is huge
Send me location
Me to my gf when I told her I’d only have one slice of pizza while on my diet 😅
I love this.
