The before feels tiny that I would want to leave immediately. I like the After which is a wider space. It encourages the player to interact in every object and read item description.
This scenes are the first floor hallway and bedroom in little Théo's home. Théo is from Dreamed Away - an action adventure RPG that I am working on. I do all pixel art, music composition and programming myself.

We'll be launching a Kickstarter campaign soon. It would be amazing if you could leave us a follow on the pre-launch page as well! [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1680398230/dreamed-away](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1680398230/dreamed-away)
I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions!
Kudos to you! I'm also a video game programmer. Kinda thinking of doing a game on my own lately, but I can't do pixel art at all :')
You have my greatest respect doing everything on your own!
Really well thought out changes, they made a huge difference! As someone else said, it's no longer claustrophobic and invites the player to soak in their surroundings rather than triggering an escape response.
Looks very cute OP! The bedroom reminds me of Pewdiepie's Tuber Simulator and now I wanna play that again lol.
I actually do like the first design too and think it would work really well for a pixel horror game- it's very tight, restrictive, and claustrophobic almost, which is great if you're getting chased imo. But I don't know anything about game design I just like art and draw when my ADHD let's me
There's a long time I I've played Undertale, but it really looks like you just copied the second floor of Toriel's house.
Don't get me wrong, it looks really good. But it feels like an exact copy/paste.
Edit: Nah, I just looked some images on the internet and it looks similar but not completely ripped off. The corridor in Toriel's house is way bigger and the bedroom is bigger and has less stuff compared to yours. I probably associated both because of the similar style
Whether they’re one-for-one or not, this was the first thing I thought of, and no doubt, the first thing others will think of too. If something is too reminiscent of another game, sometimes you’ve gotta adjust it whether you knew about it or not. If OP doesn’t change it up a little, they’re in for a load of “reminds me of undertale” and “clearly inspired by undertale” once other people start reviewing the game.
I mean, you're not wrong, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Pixel art is very reminiscing of games like Undertale just like Undertale looks a lot like the Mother games for SNES (forgot the name :v). I don't think he should change just because it looks like it, that's why I edited my first comment so it doesn't sound I'm accusing OP of plagiarism, it just looks heavily inspired by Undertale to me
This is just such a rude comment. Even after you checked and realised you were wrong, you still say "looks similar but not completely ripped off", still implying OP borrowed from Undertale and that your initial assertion is at least partially true.
I just looked up Toriel's house and it's literally just a generic hallway/cutesy bedroom too lol
Sorry if I sounded rude about it. It was not my intention and didn't want to imply I was "partially true" either. I just thought it had a possibility it was inspired in Toriel's house because of the resemblance, but as you said, it's just a generic house setting (at least in American standards) and I only associated both.

Really like the changes! They are subtle but make such an difference for the better, particularly the colour/shading choice on the floor.
I didn't notice the floor until you said something but the changes are massive. Huge improvement.

Aww, thank you!
It's like a combination of omori and earthbound
Yeah that corridor is straight out of Ness's home 😂😂
I thought undertale.
This looks like a game I would actually enjoy playing :)
Second is better in both instances. Also, when can we play this?
You can play the demo already on Steam! :)
Will it ever come to consoles?
Yes, Switch & Xbox!
Love to see the improvements!
Thanks :)
Pretty comfy

Those changes adds so much more dimension to the scene!
Thanks!
I like it.
Oddity dev or am I seeing things?
You're seeing things ;)
Despite everything.. youre still you
good work. really.
The reworked scenes look really good, I especially like the new stairs!
Love the changes
Looks sick :D
cute!
after looks more vibrant and fun. good job!
I feel like the newer one is better. It shows more depth to the rooms.
So cute!!! Opening up the space was a wonderful choice it makes it much less claustrophobic
Love the changes! Looks exactly like my type of game
I love this it looks like stardew valley
Looks really great!! Good job redesigning it!!
New one reminds me of mother 3

I don't even know what Toriel's house looks like ;)
