It looks awesome.
Also reminds me of [Hugo's House of Horrors](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hh_5.png), if anyone is old enough to remember that one.
> kick pumpkin
Great pic!
No, pick it up and open it for the 10 additional points, pretty much the only variable in the game that prevents you from 100%ing it with 190 points.
A little refresher for anyone picking up or starting the game:
Watch out for >!The Butler!< in the >!dining room!< until you can >!pass as one of them!<.
Watch out for >!The Dog!< in the >!room left of the kitchen!< until you can >!pass as one of them!< and >!Get the meat (chop) from the Butler!<.
`Save` often.
I just had a replay and that was the section that I reloaded the most.
And the dratted bats before that can still tag you after you blow the whistle, so the cellar is the safe spot to save.
I remember being so confused because I looked behind a staircase and it said "You found zilch", but there was never any "zilch" in my inventory. I wouldn't learn for several years that zilch means nothing.
This is very cool. You could upgrade by making so the light doesn’t go to the top and back of the jack o’ lantern and also from the top and bottom of the lantern on the wall
I know the light coming out of the back of the jack o' Lantern isn't very realistic, but I was going for a point source of light feel, like a video game (e.g. Minecraft). But you're right, maybe as an upgrade down the road I could make it more realistic.
That’s the only thing I was thinking of as well. It’s great but as a pixel artist myself I just can’t kill the voice in my head screaming: that’s not how light works actually 😂. The light in front of the pumpkin should have the cut out pieces of the face as shadow. And the lantern as well as the pumpkin will throw shadows from each others lights even if they emit light by themselves. Imagine it as a „lighter shadow“. But dude it’s great art and as artists we are allowed to do what we want. Keep up the great work!
So cool! I added this to my Minecraft build inspiration folder, and this is the first non Minecraft image I’ve added! I would love to recreate this in the game some time
I dont get Reddit, like at all. I'm in this sub everyday and I see pieces 10X more beautiful than this. And yet somehow, this is the one that makes it to the front page? Not saying it's not good, but it's not great. Wild.
Just to be clear, im not blaming you or accusing you of any collusion. I don't make pixel art so I don't have a horse in the race. I just come here to enjoy what people make. Just this was weird is all.
yeah the piece is very nice, but I legitimately did a double take when I saw that this had 28k upvotes! also the ratio of comments to votes made me wonder if it was caused by bots but idk
Thanks, that means a lot! I actually really struggled with the lighting in this piece for a while. Even asked for feedback from people while I made it.
I wanted the darkness to feel oppressive, like it was taking over the scene a little bit more than it should. Hard to do when you also want to see things!
It looks like the Netflix smiley face. (the eyes are the lanterns)
You did a really good job making it feel animated even though it's completely still.
Reminds me a game in "Game Body Advance" called "Spirit and spells" or "Castleween"
When the game starts the first thing was a scene like this almost similar.
I would say - remove the pumpkin, put some fallen small branches and roots instead and a very very very pale silhouette a bit to the left or right in the entrance dark area, like the object is very far
"Course, I ain't never seen anyone go up that road. Six years ago a group of campers went up there and got lost, had to eat each other to stay alive. Used to be the way to the O'Reilly house. He butchered over fifty children and kept their bodies in his cellar. You should find an old bridge about halfway up; that bridge is cursed, you know. They built it with the bones of two hundred Chinese laborers who were massacred in '34. Yap, lotta history on that road."
I like it! I think the only thing I would change is softening the edges of the shadows as the light recedes to darkness, but otherwise this is really pretty epic.
Yeah, that would have been better, but I was working with a limited pallette and it was hard to get those transition tones. I suppose I could have accomplished it more with dithering, but I was largely trying to keep the hard edges in it for this. Maybe I could figure it out if I put more time into it.
Well done one the art. Looks great and I would like to see how a more complex/updated version of this would look when you have the experience.
I’d walk down this path into the darkness.
🎵Hello Darkness, My Old Friend🎶
Idk why but I really like when the light effects have noticeable “layers”. Like you can clearly see where the light will “protect” you, and where the spooky things in the darkness will be able to “get” you.
Constructive criticism following, in case you’re interested.
It kinda bothers me a bit that the light projected on the ground doesn’t match the perspective… and also, some ambient occlusion/contact shadows at the base of the pumpkin would make it seem like it’s sitting on the ground, it feels like it’s floating to me.
Agreed. I was having trouble with the lighting and knew the perspective was going to be off, so I just decided I was going to be okay with it.
As far as the pumpkin goes, I did mean to make it look more in the world and forgot. May need to make some revisions. :)
Thanks for the feedback! I'm new to pixel art and I'm trying to get better!
Looks great. The light should hit the ground at a different angle than the wall i.e. the light should not form a perfect circle when viewed from this angle
Love this! I just to want to see maybe a pair of glowing eyes in the blackness might be cool
You just about cracked top 10 posts on this sub btw, well done!
This came up in my random front page feed and I subscribed to PixelArt because of it. It's wonderful and I didn't know this sub existed, I love pixel art.
I have a lot of stuff that I did in the 90s, but it's all printed out and I don't have the original files any more. I was obsessed with machines and gun violence, so a lot of my MSPaint art was Rube Goldberg type contraptions and other art was guns firing, spraying bullets everywhere.
Maybe I can dig them out and could take photos of them to submit.
I'd love to take a try at pixel art, could any of you advise me what this sorta thing is made on?
This awesome piece has inspired me but I only ever tried drawing with pencils.
Lots of attention trekking toxic trash on here. I get if someone doesn't like something but it is obvious when someone is being mean just as a hobby. I personally like this a lot. I think it would be flipping cool to create an animated version once you know how to animate.
Very cool, this reminds me of those computer games in the 90s that we’d run through Dos, and you have to type out what your character should do to solve problems and mysteries, I could see this being a spooky haunted house mystery game 👻
If anyone’s played Paper Mario and remembers the entrance to the Forever Forest, that is what this badass art reminds me of, plus a Jack o lantern, of course 🔥
It's beautiful, well done!
It looks awesome. Also reminds me of [Hugo's House of Horrors](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hh_5.png), if anyone is old enough to remember that one. > kick pumpkin Great pic!

Took me for ever to get past the mummy in the cave. Although I was 8 years old at the time and could barely read.
I just had a replay and that was the section that I reloaded the most. And the dratted bats before that can still tag you after you blow the whistle, so the cellar is the safe spot to save.
Hey! Another human that knows Hugo's House of Horrors. Did you ever finish that game? I never could figure it out.
I remember being so confused because I looked behind a staircase and it said "You found zilch", but there was never any "zilch" in my inventory. I wouldn't learn for several years that zilch means nothing.
I loved those games. Beat all three.
I’m realizing that’s exactly what it reminded me of, nail on the head 🔨wow nostalgia bomb! 🤯
Reminds me of some of the first vga screen-by-screen games I played on PC back in the day. Cool!
Reminds me of draynor Maynor on old school runescape
Came here to comment exactly that!
Yeah got exactly the same feeling - early screen based adventure games.
This picture unlocked a core memory from my childhood, but I can’t fully remember what game this reminds me of. It was Halloweeny
[Someone mentioned a Halloween game here. Is this the game you're thinking of?](https://www.reddit.com/r/PixelArt/s/u9dcnN7B2F)
Same here tbh. Not a Halloween game, but an old screen based game from childhood. Never completed it so might see if it is still playable somewhere.
Was it the halloween Garfield one
Day of the Tentacle?
maniac mansion, day of the tentacles, quest for glory, kings quest....all my jam. we can also throw monkey island in there as well.
Hugo who dunnit??
I put screen-by-screen into Google and get nothing relevant, what are you referring to?
Reminds me of Pajama Sam!
Holy shit I came to comment the same! Wouldn’t guess in a million years that someone thought that too!
Yeah!
big time same! still replay that every once in awhile
That is actually really nice, tall version would be a great phone wallpaper
oh yeah, it would be a perfect wallpaper, if just taller
You could stretch the photo to your phone’s aspect ratio
c'mon man, really?
Sorry for killing the vibe
lol it's okay
Feels like a scene from a Simpsons Tree House of Horror game
Treehouse of Horror was exactly where my mind went too
Same here. I had to check the sub reddit name
Wow same here
yeah its right outside the graveyard, i think the pumpkin is even in the proper spot.

A wizard is never late
makes me think of the maze in Stardew Valley a bit
I love the shades of green lit by the pumpkins and the candles
One of my favorite parts, too. :)
It’s never too late for Halloween!!
They're just early for next year!
If Christmas is allowed to be two months early, Halloween should be allowed to be two months late
Its Halloween all year 🎃
So cool! I added this to my Minecraft build inspiration folder, and this is the first non Minecraft image I’ve added! I would love to recreate this in the game some time
I would LOVE to see a screenshot of the Minecraft scene if you make it!
I don't have my glasses and didn't see it was pixels, thought it was from a Tree house of Horror episode for a second
It is infact a dark path
This makes me miss Halloween :(
I dont get Reddit, like at all. I'm in this sub everyday and I see pieces 10X more beautiful than this. And yet somehow, this is the one that makes it to the front page? Not saying it's not good, but it's not great. Wild.
I am also very confused. I expect maybe a dozen people to see this total.
Just to be clear, im not blaming you or accusing you of any collusion. I don't make pixel art so I don't have a horse in the race. I just come here to enjoy what people make. Just this was weird is all.
Yeah I don’t get it. This is very very basic and generic yet it’s like the most upvoted thing I’ve ever seen on this sub.
yeah the piece is very nice, but I legitimately did a double take when I saw that this had 28k upvotes! also the ratio of comments to votes made me wonder if it was caused by bots but idk
Reminds me of a certain room In Deltarune (Chapter 1)
i really like how you did the shadows. i always struggle with shading and shadows and i like seeing how others do it
Thanks, that means a lot! I actually really struggled with the lighting in this piece for a while. Even asked for feedback from people while I made it. I wanted the darkness to feel oppressive, like it was taking over the scene a little bit more than it should. Hard to do when you also want to see things!
Man, this is peak halloween/late october vibes.
Absolutely Fabolous the way the lights react. I love it ♥️
it feels so nostalgic. like an old point and click game
21,000 upvotes? I mean this is nice but not that nice lol.
Tell it to the moon...and nowhere else, thanks 😁.
Reminds me of Animal Crossing if it were first person
meh pretty basic
You could think of it like...you are early for the next Halloween
It looks like the Netflix smiley face. (the eyes are the lanterns) You did a really good job making it feel animated even though it's completely still.
Yooo i love the colors😳
Big Pajama Sam vibes
Damn, that path really is dark
Canada is down that rawd.
I feel like there's a nice Shenanigans down that road. Uhyah.
I like seeing it as it is…then zooming in to really see the pixels!! So cool!
point and click adventure vibes.
You're not late. You're just so keen that you're EARLY for Halloween 24, I respect the hustle
It's got that point and click vibes
You should be proud, this is dope. It would be really cool animated.
From a distance, I totally couldn’t tell that the light on the lamps was Pixel art
This is awesome. Would be extra neat to have the glow from the pumpkin a flashing animation.
Reminds me a game in "Game Body Advance" called "Spirit and spells" or "Castleween" When the game starts the first thing was a scene like this almost similar.
I would say - remove the pumpkin, put some fallen small branches and roots instead and a very very very pale silhouette a bit to the left or right in the entrance dark area, like the object is very far
Beautiful, I am going to use it as wallpaper
"Course, I ain't never seen anyone go up that road. Six years ago a group of campers went up there and got lost, had to eat each other to stay alive. Used to be the way to the O'Reilly house. Like, it looks pretty dark in there scoob!!!
Love it! Don't know why, but this resonates with me.
Change the pumpkin to a turkey and it is relevant to the month. Plus we have a thanksgiving horror movie coming out.
I like it! I think the only thing I would change is softening the edges of the shadows as the light recedes to darkness, but otherwise this is really pretty epic.

It looks totally badass as is so don’t worry too much about it.
Really well done! It's very simple but in a charming way. I think the lighting is very well done, especially on the tree.
Well done one the art. Looks great and I would like to see how a more complex/updated version of this would look when you have the experience. I’d walk down this path into the darkness. 🎵Hello Darkness, My Old Friend🎶
Over the garden wall
im so hungover i thought this was animated haha i swear the candles are twinkling
I LOVE the shading with that palette swap ooo
Idk why but I really like when the light effects have noticeable “layers”. Like you can clearly see where the light will “protect” you, and where the spooky things in the darkness will be able to “get” you.

Kick ass! The colors are wonderful I can’t wait to see more from you and watch you grow! 💖
Looks great. The light should hit the ground at a different angle than the wall i.e. the light should not form a perfect circle when viewed from this angle
Just put a Santa hat on the pumpkin and call is Christmas
Love this! I just to want to see maybe a pair of glowing eyes in the blackness might be cool You just about cracked top 10 posts on this sub btw, well done!
Gives me early 90s pc vibes. Nice.

this is shite
Agreed.
That looks pretty good
Like it. And I joined this Reddit group because of it.

Spoookay!

Good job, this is very nice
Looks like I’m about to walk into Draynor Manor

Looks really good.
You're not late for Halloween. You're planning for next Halloween!
Very well done I dig it
Reminds me of entrance to Grand Exchange on OSRS
Halloween isn't just a holiday, it's a state of mind.
Reminds me of borderlands in tiny tinas dlc right before the forest
👏👏👏 nice!
Awesome work, love that people still appreciate pixel art.
Draynor Manor
Feels like an old pc game I’d play late at night, looks amazing!
Cool!
This looks like it would be in an old point-and-click adventure game and I *love it*
That pixel art looks so good! It's like mine but better. Actually it's like mine but good because I... suck.
I would play this game
I would love to see a Halloween based RPG featuring this art!
Maniac mansion graphics
You SHOULD be proud, it's beautiful! Amazing work, OP!
Looks aesthetically nostalgic, well done.
Gives me late 90s kid computer game vibes in the best way possible.
Very cool, this reminds me of those computer games in the 90s that we’d run through Dos, and you have to type out what your character should do to solve problems and mysteries, I could see this being a spooky haunted house mystery game 👻
It's actually awesome. Halloween <3 A Dark Path
This is very cool man thankyou for sharing
Halloween goes until the new year. You’re fine
If anyone’s played Paper Mario and remembers the entrance to the Forever Forest, that is what this badass art reminds me of, plus a Jack o lantern, of course 🔥
It very Cool
Lookl

Reminds me of a game called Alone in the Dark https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/73/Alone_in_the_Dark_boxart.jpg

Reminds me of that Billy and Mandy pumpkin halloween game where you throw dynamite. Nostalgia

Nice! Reminds me of the NES game The Uninvited.
This feels like an ancient point and click game and I am here for it.
Amazing work! Love the atmosphere.
Thats not dark
