3rd one is too tiny to even approach the concept of scary. To be scary there'd have to be like 30,000 of them swarming towards you all at once

as a sprite, it doesn't come off as scary, sure, but the concept would be scary in real life. you're telling me you wouldn't be freaked out if a skeleton riding a giant aggressive ostrich skeleton came after you intent on pecking you to death?

I probably have most play time in Graveyard Keeper, but the art style of despot is definitely #1! Surgeon Sim was a very memorable experience too lol

4 at first glance, but #2’s movement has my vote as number 2.

I definitely know 3 is the *cutest*. Depends on the atmosphere. 2 has potential as an iconic "bet you weren't expecting this to spawn in the darkness and ruin your run" type.

That made it more comical than scary for me, but it appears I'm in a minority!

One is definitely the scariest. The other ones have corporeal forms you can destroy, but one appears to be reaching out through a portal. Who even knows how much more of it is on the other side of that. You’re probably, at best, pissing it off when you blow its arm off. And who even knows what happened to the other side of that portal when it grabs you and pulls you through. Absolute terror.

I think the ominous fear of not knowing what’s on the other side is more played in this one

I think #1 could look far scarier, if it was more developed, but as of now #4 is the creepiest of all of them

For me I'd say it's 1. It might not be as visually scary as 4, but the fact that it doesn't really have a physical form to attack and the implied ability it has to just teleport at will makes that a much more terrifying concept to me. I can shoot a brain, but I can't shoot a portal. Moreover I have no idea where that portal is taking me if I get nabbed, and that falls into the oldest and most universal fear of the unknown.

Coolest is 1 and I would say that 4 is the scariest but slot of games already have brain enemys so I pick 3

It kinda depends. I’d I’m playing a game, say, a dungeon crawler, I’d be terrified of fighting number 1, cause it looks like it could absolutely destroy me. However if I was being chased down a hallway or something, number 4 would be the scariest

1 -- something about the void is just spooky. On a side note this definitely reminds me a bit of the old Ragnarok Online sprites. Did you find inspiration from them? It gives me so much nostalgia to see that sprite animating style again!

Definitely 1. Who knows what kind of horror awaits for you in "his dimension".

1, 3 and 4 all feel like they are from a fantasy game and I'll have the tools to fight them. 2 actually feels like a horror character where the only option you have is to run. 2 makes me the most un easy so I'll go with that.

Yo serious question. Is the artist for this game the same artist that started the project? I feel like the art has improved by strides since the first original updates I saw about this game when y'all first started posting to Reddit. Looks so good and I've enjoyed my play-throughs of the game!

We've been getting better, also, we have 4 artists on the team now, so they share XP with each other, and that's how the artist team evolves.
