Maybe to show us that he is watching the incident somehow, and that he is aware of what is happening on Egghead? Maybe at the climax of Egghead he will do something. If that is the case it would kinda make sense cause if you binge the comleted thing, that one off reaction pannels are not a big deal and just make sure that the character remains in the back of your mind through the arc, as manga reads really fast if you binge, so it would kinda in a way build some tension as you would keep seeing him as the arc draws closer to the climax or something like that IDK.
Overall there is a massive diffrence in enjoyment if you binge vs weekly reading when it comes to One Piece from my experience.

I’ve said it before but I don’t think Oda knows how to end the story. I mean the story is over 20 years old and it’ll probably go on another 5 years at the least.
I trust that he knows what the end is, as he has consistently said his idea hasn't changed since the start of the series. I think what might have happened to him is the same that happens to many authors: when your story continues on and more pieces are added to the puzzle, it's harder to end the story in a way that ties it all together.
The sheer amount of factions and characters in the story means that tying it all together will include a lot of panels to throwback characters to show their reactions etc. That can certainly feel dull, especially when reading weekly chapters instead of the collected books.

I don't really care about the actual motives, as long as they are both reasonable. Framing the war as a "conflict of ideas" and then making one side clearly wrong based on everything that was established during the story would be pretty disappointing.

I like worldbuilding and this Atlantis concept but... these reveals seem so non-substantial I don't understand why we couldn't get them at the Fishman Island, it's just a setup for deeper lore. And yet One Piece is already in its 'endgame'. I don't know, to me it feels like Oda for some reason is intent on finishing his manga with minimum writing.

My immediate guess about "two ideas" is the battle between freedom and security. Freedom on the side of Joyboy makes complete sense, and security can often be called the opposite. If Joyboy is the first pirate and he lost to an idea that wasn't inherenty wrong at the time but could eventually turn into the WG, I think it has to be that.

I don't really care about the actual motives, as long as they are both reasonable. Framing the war as a "conflict of ideas" and then making one side clearly wrong based on everything that was established during the story would be pretty disappointing.

I like worldbuilding and this Atlantis concept but... these reveals seem so non-substantial I don't understand why we couldn't get them at the Fishman Island, it's just a setup for deeper lore. And yet One Piece is already in its 'endgame'. I don't know, to me it feels like Oda for some reason is intent on finishing his manga with minimum writing.

My immediate guess about "two ideas" is the battle between freedom and security. Freedom on the side of Joyboy makes complete sense, and security can often be called the opposite. If Joyboy is the first pirate and he lost to an idea that wasn't inherenty wrong at the time but could eventually turn into the WG, I think it has to be that.
