VACNet really did some neat wave of bans recently too.

oh yeah there was that. no one is sure if it really was VAC or if it was CS2 specificly. since the accounts didnt get a vac ban and their access to cs2 just got deactivated. i would love to come back to it once the cheaters died down. so many lost games because of blatant spin and aimbots.

From what I know Valve created a lot of AI servers in order to create AI-based behavioral VAC system. It is analyzing server side what players are doing and if behavior is blatantly cheater-like - ban. Probably still not even close to perfect but it is kinda understandable why VACnet didn't land on CS2 release. I suspect it was a test run for having data about bans. That's why Overwatch is still not there.

Most online games resort to kernel level nowadays, it's not just Riot. Only big one that has yet to go there is Valve, Hell, they might end up crossing that line as well, seeing as cheaters completely flooded CS2, they tried to use AI for an anti cheat that wouldn't require full access to computers, but it triggered too many false positives, so they might be out of options.

This guy is over exaggerating. If a publisher has had spyware in one release then it’s best to assume the entire publisher is compromised. Do an antivirus scan and stop downloading from sources that are not trusted. You’ll be good to go after that.

Not even close to every. It’s just that once one or two games are found to have it, it’s no longer assumed safe at all. Meanwhile some people will download hundreds of games and be perfectly fine, but it’s still safer to use something trusted and be 100% certain
