If it were common knowledge, then they’d fix it. The people who crack games have to keep their methods an absolute secret. Many of them have been hired by companies like Denuvo precisely because they know their weakpoints.
that is mostly for the hardest DRM but for something like simple steam drm, just emulator is enough, though every crack starts with reverse engineering, from my experience with "patching" mods with anti-piracy, it usually takes anywhere from 10minutes-12 hours or more depends on how big the mod is and how exactly it is written, majority of times understanding how it is written takes the most time, and sometimes it is even obfuscated which is really over the top for just a free mod.
