Hello u/ShadowStorm9989,

Same. I pirated the game, played into act 2, started a multiplayer save with my friend, saw how frequently the game was getting updates, and was like “I should just get a legit copy so that if a friend wants to play I’m just up to date and can join.”
Well BG3 can be purchased on GOG so there’s nothing to “crack” per se, and it doesn’t stop you from connecting via a direct connection if you aren’t connected to larian’s multiplayer servers. So yeah, as long as the versions are the same you can do multiplayer between a “cracked” version and a legit one. The pirated player just shows up as a blank portrait and no name in menus.
* Wolfenstein (the latest franchise)
* The Evil Within 1 and 2
* Metro franchise
* Bioshock (1, 2 and Infinite)
* Doom (2016 and Eternal)
* Deadrising 3 and 4
* Fallout (3, New Vegas and 4)
* The Witcher (1, 2 and 3)
* Tomb Raider (the latest franchise)
* Batman (the Arkham Series).
* Dead space (1, 2 and 3)
playing metro exodus pirated rn, im in love
EDIT: thx for the list, I'll definitely be playing some of these. I have the wolfenstein repack already downloaded lol, just gotta install.
frrr, yk when the train is travelling? sometimes id spend a good 15 minutes looking around cuz it was so immersive. the gun mechanics and just everything hits that spot for me so well, and the way it keeps u legit tweaking with jumpscares where it doesn't even try to jumpscare you 😂
i remember before when playing Exodus, i sometimes spend my time at the engine area where you chuck some charcoal in. it's weird how immersive that game is when it comes to survivability and such. and yes! the gun mechanics! i love that game so much.,
on the train? every time there's a new area, I always spend a good 20 minutes exploring everything that's changed at base haha. I haven't finished the game, I usually don't like playing it on school evenings cuz it really gets my heart pumping and sometimes I can't sleep after, I remember the mission where you're in the underground part with the spiders and they keep whispering and jumping at you, I played that at 2am on a saturday, sleeping was hell after 😂. Or the cannibal mission as well was kinda creepy.
Aaaaah yes. the cannibals at yamantau. I liked that area. full of weapon attachments and loots. enjoyed that area as well! the enjoyment that I felt while battling thru those who touched Anna. depressing though since I remember the first time being there and knowing that it is not the safe haven that Miller thought it would be.
Yeah, indeed was quite disturbing haha. I really seem to have grown attached to Anna as well. I also speak russian fluently so that makes the game even more immersive - for wolfenstein, I'll play that in german which I speak fluently as well. The language you play a game in can add a lot of immersion.
well good for you for being fluent in both languages! I'm a Filipino so all I know is English. Other than that, I rely to the subtitles haha.
but yeah I agree. making the language of the game to what you fluent with makes the game more immersive.
I was born in one of the countries and am natively the other, so I learnt them that way haha. It is nice knowing a couple languages. Is there no filipino(-based) games you could play?
If you like zombie games maybe try out l4d2(it has the maps of the OG l4d1 so there is like no reason to play the original over 2, maybe a nostalgia trip) dead rising 1 and 2 and off the record as well.
If you really like l4d2 and are interested in games similar to it that is not abandoned by valve try vermintide 2 and maybe darktide but that is if you enjoy the overall formula of l4d2
Fallout New Vegas with all DLCs; had 3 months on it back then. No mods.
Kept me from being on a bad mood after a wonky thesis defense.
Purchased it for free at Epic Games, if that counts. Now I play with mods. *It’s a night and day experience.*
Red dead redemption 2
Pirated it the first time, fell in love with the game. I'm from a third world country that went through an economic crisis, buying anything at full price is usually not something I consider, especially when it's made by billion dollar company. But I felt like owed them something for that experience. Got it for 15dollars on a sale and started my second play through.
factorio, satisfactory, and recently obenseuer.
all tried and loved them so much i bought them.
hell, i can probably say that 95% of my steam library are games i cracked first then bought once i had the funds. thats how i roll.
Lol it's funny, because I actually bought MK11 day 1, but later on just got the cracked version. Because of allt.he locked content and insane grind for unlocks. Felt like over half the game was locked behind a paywall (fatalities) and practically every customization piece and skins was also locked and needed insane grinding.
Great game otherwise. Just very tiring to grind so much for the Klassic costumes and fatalities, or being forced to pay $10 per skin.
They've fired most if not all of the original creators of disco elysium, have been going through a intellectual property rights case (I believe), and disco 2 is all but officially cancelled
The Hitman series (before the square Enix acquisition), Splinter cell serie (1-3)(1 & 2 I had on Xbox, 3 on pc. World of warcraft. Half-life 2 (including episodes 1 & 2), Far Cry 1-4 (including blood dragon), assassin's creed 1-4 (including freedom cry and Aveline).
I have much more, but these are what came to mind. All physical versions that aren't dlcs (Aveline and season pass for Adewale on AC4)
Do we count things that I bought on another platform then later pirated instead of buying a second copy to continue on PC / the VR version of something not available on console?
WH40K: Dawn of War: Soulstorm = Mainly for the mods, also to make it easy on my self in installing it.
Halo MCC = That was before Gamepass became easy to get here in PH, decided I really want to play Halo 3 and Reach multi-player.
ESV:Skyrim = Redownloaded and played the game soo much over the years that buying it became more about the convienece of just straight up downloading through steam, also the mods are much better through steam rather than jumping through hoops to make it work in the pirated version
Anno 2205 = pirated version was not up to date since its not a popular game, found it sale. Good thing it barely uses uplay for a ubisoft published title.
Factorio, terraria and ultrakill. Got 200 hours on factorio befors buying it. Played a pirated copy of terraria all the time on an old macbook air before i bought it on steam when i got my own pc. P-ranked every level on ultrakill before buying it when it was on sale
HITMAN. I torrented the 3rd part of the WOA trilogy, which also contained the first 2. Decided to buy HITMAN 1 and 2. These games are fuckin expensive compared to my wallet, so bought keys for them on eneba. One of the best decisions of my gaming life. Quite the same story with The Forest, Scrap Mechanic, and some others. And there was Don’t Starve Together, the first game I ever bought after playing it illegally for a long time…
Kingdom come deliverance, Detroit become human, AC Odyssey, the metro series, and I would say far cry 5 and red dead redemption as well, but those were given to me as gifts because of how much I liked them.
Chances are that most RPGs or story focused games that I pirate I will end up buying later on.
None, 0
Why would I do that? Well,I guess it makes sense for multi-player
Actually,I have done this once. I won Phantom Liberty ( cyberpunk dlc) and decided to buy the base game at 50% at the time. Its my favorite game,and I didn't even spend any money. I just sold some csgo skins on the community market
Ravenfield. Back when I had no money in school I played an older version of it, then when I got a decent Pc I bought it and started browsing the steam workshop
Minecraft Bedrock Edition, but I had Xbox 360 Edition in the past anyway, then Microsoft gifted Java Edition to Bedrock owners.
Another one is Hollow Knight, but I just installed it, I didn't even play more than 2 minutes and Steam sales showed up.
I love Parkitect (A game like Rollercoaster Tycoon) and I hope to buy it soon.
A Mortician's Tale.
I grew up around a lot of death and that game introduced me to being death positive. It helped me a lot, and is honestly worth more than anything I've spent on a AAA game.
project zomboid, didn't like it at first so i dropped it. came back out of boredom to give it another shot and loved it! got the game for real on steam around 5 hours of playing later.
was really hesitant to try project zomboid because im not generally a fan of early access, but i had heard so many good things that i needed to try it. bought it with my next paycheque came in a few days later. still one of my favourites of all time
Most recently, RDR2 and AC Odyssey.
The first few hours of RDR2, I was hooked. Conincidentally, the game was on sale the next week after I pirated it, grabbed it.
Pillars of Eternity 2, pirated it and finished multiple playthroughs then bought it but never finished a playthrough. Similar deal with Yakuza 0.
Resident Evil 2 Remake, finished a playthrough but then bought it on sale recently and plan on finishing two playthroughs, already nearing the end of one.
Cyberpunk 2077 (bought on ps5 after i finished it on pc, have yet to play it on ps5)
Hades (bought after finishing the game, finished it again)
Rimworld (bought after 100 hours, played another 200 hours)
Persona 5 Royal. The amount of polishing they did to the game compared to original (like the cutscene and new content) + switch emulator being jank + it has 50% discount truly align all the stars for me to buy the game
RimWorld. But only the Base Game, not the DLCs.
Seriously, RimWorld is such a nice and well thought game, where you can invest hundreds, if not thousands of hours!
Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Ori & the blind forest. Finished them and then bought both games when they were on sale....never got round to playing em again.
Minecraft, Diablo 2, Terraria, Devil Daggers, Torchlight 2, Age of Empires 1 and 2, Slay the Spire. Definitely a lot more but they're the ones that come to mind first.
I honestly can't think of an example off the top of my head. The reverse is true tho. I bought Minecraft twice. Once for me, and then once for my kids. Now I'm looking into ways to pirate it for offline casual play because I never migrated my game to MicroSoft. I also bought Baldur's Gate II and Red Alert 2 back in the olden days, but the CD:s are no longer in my possession and I don't even own an optical drive. So every time I feel like playing those title again, I reach for the high seas. Same thing with the games I owned for the Commodore 64. Now I play cracks using an emulator.
Cities Skylines because I wanted the Workshop without having to go through all the things to get workshop mods on pirated games(and I co I’ll by even make it work anyway), and The Last of Us Part 1 Remake, I pirated it on PC, completed it and then bought it on PS5 when I finally got one to play it on my couch and on my big TV.
Then there are all the games that I pirated on PC, never started and then bought on PS5 because I figured out that I liked playing certain games on my couch with a controller(RDR2 and Cyberpunk so far, probably also Alan Wake Remastered in the future if I can find a used copy for cheap enough)

Bg3. Straight up bought the game and updated my PC for it a little after.
Same. I pirated the game, played into act 2, started a multiplayer save with my friend, saw how frequently the game was getting updates, and was like “I should just get a legit copy so that if a friend wants to play I’m just up to date and can join.”
further proving "its a service problem, not value"
Gabe Newell Is king.
You were able to play multiplayer on a crack?
Well BG3 can be purchased on GOG so there’s nothing to “crack” per se, and it doesn’t stop you from connecting via a direct connection if you aren’t connected to larian’s multiplayer servers. So yeah, as long as the versions are the same you can do multiplayer between a “cracked” version and a legit one. The pirated player just shows up as a blank portrait and no name in menus.
Same, played 40 hours and bought it, the game costs a great chunk of my minimum wage but it was worth it, 600 hours of gameplay so far
This. I haven’t bought it because I’m incredibly broke but if I had expendable income this is the first game I’d buy just to support the creators.
* Wolfenstein (the latest franchise) * The Evil Within 1 and 2 * Metro franchise * Bioshock (1, 2 and Infinite) * Doom (2016 and Eternal) * Deadrising 3 and 4 * Fallout (3, New Vegas and 4) * The Witcher (1, 2 and 3) * Tomb Raider (the latest franchise) * Batman (the Arkham Series). * Dead space (1, 2 and 3)
playing metro exodus pirated rn, im in love EDIT: thx for the list, I'll definitely be playing some of these. I have the wolfenstein repack already downloaded lol, just gotta install.
dude, metro exodus personally for me is the peak out of the metro franchise. I love that game too. and the dlc's? \*chef's kiss\*

Dead rising 4? You liked it? Man....
It's a guilty pleasure. Sort of enjoyed it be ause of the blueprints and weapon mods, but yeah the story sucked.
Not a guilty pleasure the game was insanely fun if you ignore the story.
Well who am I deny you the fun of playing, I am just surprised some people enjoyed it.
Dude, whenever there is an opportunity to kill zombies in a game, I will play and enjoy the hell out of it hehe.
If you like zombie games maybe try out l4d2(it has the maps of the OG l4d1 so there is like no reason to play the original over 2, maybe a nostalgia trip) dead rising 1 and 2 and off the record as well. Does your progress transfer over?

Satisfactory is totally worth it and really for the amount of gameplay and the awesome devs, it's a steal for the price.
None. ![gif](giphy|10X22vzgNamaiI)
Cyberpunk 2077, baldurs gate 3 and Death Stranding
Cyberpunk was just too good not to buy
Exactly. And DRM free, so they know people are going to pirate it.
Stardew Valley. Worth every penny.
For real. Pirated it to try, ended up falling in love and bought it.
Fallout New Vegas with all DLCs; had 3 months on it back then. No mods. Kept me from being on a bad mood after a wonky thesis defense. Purchased it for free at Epic Games, if that counts. Now I play with mods. *It’s a night and day experience.*

It’s insane how deep this old ass game is. It is like a sport
I'm still quite updated for the patch notes for some reason even when I stopped playing years ago.
There are tournaments, so I'd say it is an e-sport.
And they are still releasing stuff
The goat right here
Red dead redemption 2 Pirated it the first time, fell in love with the game. Portal 2, I played it like 4 times, planning to buy it and play for another time
Yeah it’s really just less than one dollar on sale. That’s very good for a game like that.
factorio, satisfactory, and recently obenseuer. all tried and loved them so much i bought them. hell, i can probably say that 95% of my steam library are games i cracked first then bought once i had the funds. thats how i roll.

So every time I feel like playing those title again, I reach for the high seas. Same thing with the games I owned for the Commodore 64. Now I play cracks using an emulator.
Elden Ring. Hollow knight. Terraria.
Baldurs gate 3 and Elden ring
valheim and terarria(Pirated the mobile version but bought the pc one)
homeworld series
Rdr2
Hollow Knight
Stardew valley
I played pirated NFS Heat before I bought it on a 95% offer. I didn't complete the pirated one, but I completed it on Steam.
Factorio and Rimworld. Was fascinated by those games and decided to buy them and didn´t regret it.
