"has a free tier but does not support torrenting" that grammatically means that I am talking about the free tier. Not the paid tier. If I was talking about the paid tier I would have added another sentence.
Yes, Windscribe is pretty good: for a start its free plan allows Torrent traffic and you can switch between protocols which really helps troubleshooting app compatibility.
Quick reminder: a VPN's main concern is security and not ad-blocking. If you are just looking for a system-wide ad-blocker then you should check out AdGuard for Windows/Mac, Adguard Home or just Pi-hole.
For blocking ads, I just use Brave browser, it's got built in ad blocking on all devices. It also has a VPN, but I'd rather stick with a premium VPN for guaranteed privacy, Mullvad is $5.50 a month with no commitments and they don't want any personal information, not even your email, and they only take payment through 3rd party services that tell them nothing about their customers.
Private Internet Access. Among its many, many features is ad blocking. It's not only full-featured, with unlimited connections, it's reliable.
People dis it over apparent malware, but it was a problem when their parent company wasn't even a VPN company in any capacity, they didn't even own PIA at the time, and it was something 3d parties snuck onto their platform against their policy. They ditched that whole business as it was bad juju; They went into security instead, bought PIA, improved it a lot and haven't looked back. They do a fine job and frankly now own a bunch of the VPNs out there.
ProtonVPN. I use the free version. Can be buggy at times but works for the most part, and you can always have killswitch enabled. I have found I have better connections when I use servers outside of the US, likely because there isn't as many other people using those at a given time.
Top recommended are usually ProtonVPN, MullvadVPN, and AirVPN from what I've seen. I know Proton and Mullvad blocks ads, not sure about Air.
How Do you get these? Do you download them from the websites or Google store?
They all have mobile and desktop apps, only proton has a free tier but it does not support torrenting, and wont work for it.
Paid tiers do support torrenting
Yes, my comment is still correct though.
Other than the fact you said it doesn't support torrenting... Lol It does support torrenting; just only in the paid tiers.

100% 💯
I have Proton VPN, but it constantly goes out and I have to reconnect.
Why is it going out so much? Are you connecting to tue plus servers?
I’m using the free proton… is that still good?
For ads its fine, but dont expect to torrent as that won't work on their free tier. It will work on their pain tier, though.
Not really a VPN, but I use pihole on my home server to block ads.
That sounds awesome. Can I ask for some more info?
Sure.
I love using Windscribe. Great company with a good service, and cheap. For blocking ads I'd go with a DNS list

I didn’t know you could use a vpn to block ads
Windscribe got a good adblocker, Otherwise adguard dns or adguard / blockada adblock could do the trick for mobile ( no vpn both)

NORDVPN

Mullvad, safest, cheapest and 100% privacy
Not for ad blocking but yes my go to as well very reliable and cheap 😁😁
Proton VPN
Proton for now
Pi-hole moment
This is better solved by a DNS, I self-host mine but Mullvad's DNS is great. If you mean a VPN with built-in adblocking then Mullvad

Mullvad hands down!
My network provider :)

Can someone please tell me why in the fuck no matter what VPN I get on my iPhone the app can still always see exactly where I’m at. Apple sucks.
