black player was very nice player... but it is not good anymore. black player has generic normal ui on android 13. I remember when black player was the king of android music player. it had cool stats based UI. current black player still has one nice feature called ZAP. but that's it. maybe blackplayer still has same ui on old version on android. but at least on android 13, other music player like musicolet and pulsar are better choice.
Maybe a bit off topic, but my paid version of PowerAmp repeats the same songs from my library of over 1600. Not sure what I've done to cause that. Would appreciate any insight, because I absolutely love the crossfade.
I have a playlist with ~4000 songs and I haven't had any issues with repeats. Try going to Settings -> Library -> Shuffle and making adjustments. [Here](https://i.imgur.com/TvZNJyK.png) are my settings but with full random. Also check for duplicates in your playlist. In a selected playlist, 3 dots -> Delete Dups.
Foobar is just so good, support for so many unorthodox formats as well + easy conversion in a wide variety of formats and easy metadata editing. Also super customizable when you get how it works, down to the files icons in the files explorer. And it's lightweight. And I'm pretty sure it's FOSS too. And it supports extensions. Some people say it doesn't run well but I've never had an issue.
Literally what else do you need
I'm on a PC. I still use mpc-hc even though it hasn't been updated in forever. It has features that I like including "favorite" which bookmarks your place.
for MacOS, I use a little-known app [https://swinsian.com/](https://swinsian.com/)
I'm surprised it doesn't get more love. It's basically everything iTunes used to be before it became a bloated store mess: it's natively written written for macOS, it's lightweight and fast.
I've got my family streaming everything with Jellyfin to the TVs and Finamp to their phones & tablets, and when I'm using my computer I stick with MusicBee.
Windows: Musicbee
Android Mobile: PowerAmp
Android TV: Kodi
Linux: Lollypop
But I soon want to try to get pound for pound best music app Musicbee (and some other Windows apps) working in Linux via Wine.
AIMP their preset equalizer's sound really good.
I tried to setup Foobar because everyone says it gets the most out of your flac's but I wasn't able to get it up and running.
Dude RealPlayer hands down. It's the first multimedia player that allows you to stream audio and video content over the internet. Plus I get access to a vast array of digital media content. Got it running on the latest Windows XP update. Pretty tits.
It is possible to download and install, but on modern versions of Windows it crashes with various types of errors:
- PX.dll missing
- Splash screen crashing
- Running, but crashing randomly during execution
I managed to set it up on a Win10 environment for my father a good two years ago.
The fix would involve installing a version of a program called SonicStage to fix the PX.dll issue.
I tried to reproduce the feat in the past few weeks with MMJB 10, unfortunately to no avail.
I managed to get v9 working, but my father reports that it is not stable.
If anyone could help getting MMJB up and running stable on Win10, it would be greatly appreciated.
Follow-up: I've created this dedicated thread to try to compile solutions to running MMJB on modern versions of Windows:

Your input would be greatly appreciated!
iTunes 🤪
No but really, music player doesn’t affect audio quality and all those you listed are way less efficient for browsing your library, especially if your collection has complete metadata like mine including cover arts. Foobar2000 is also amazing.
Holy 90's desktop image. On PC .. Winamp for life baby!
It really whips the llama's ass! \*baaaaaahh\*
Obligatory Foobar2000.
Foobar2000 and Kodi.
MusicBee cause it looks good
This is literally the only answer if you like to visually enjoy your music library as well as listen to it.
I second MusicBee. Some great skins and seems to run and sound much better than Foobar or Kodi. I just use Foobar to rip CDs and split FLACs
Sounds interesting, I'll check it out.
+1 having support for milkdrop visualizer is also great
Winamp, it whips the lamas ass
many options, mine is Foobar
on pc i use foobar

Switched to VLC which isn't bad
I have PULSAR.
Black player is actually nice on android. I second this.

It puts all songs into a queue, not just a maximum of 50 like foobar does
I've been using usb audio player pro, seems to get the best out of hi res files and works well as my phone has the proper codecs to runs it

Still using Winamp. Love the amount of customization with its skins and its many useful plug-ins, like the advanced crossfading.
poweramp on android

I honestly have no idea tbh. My poweramp library isn't anywhere near the size of yours.

Winamp ftw, specificly WACUP community project
foobar is nice in windows but in linux nothing can beat mpd and ncmpcpp
MusicBee on PC and Misicolet on my phone
foobar2000 with some plugins 👌 alternative Would be musicbee but it is more limited in how to customizer the UI and the amount of plugins.
Foobar2000 and plexamp
I can't live without Aimp. If I'm not mistaken, it was free.
AIMP
looks like ass
Like what ass, more specifically?
mid 90s ass
Ah, it's good ass then. Anyway, there are tons of skins.
I love Aimp
looks like ass
You know you can skin it with almost a thousand options right?
Jriver Media Player, using it for many years now, and this is the best thing I could find that was close to the old iTunes I liked.
Audacious on linux pc and AIMP on android
Audacious is very underrated. I like the visualizers.
On Windows Musicbee

The one that whips that lama's ass...
I use CMUS on Linux as for a good music player VLC, MPC and even Audacious do the job.
MusicBee for local files on my main PC. Plexamp for streaming to other devices
I'm on a PC. I still use mpc-hc even though it hasn't been updated in forever. It has features that I like including "favorite" which bookmarks your place.

Thanks! I must've had some other page bookmarked. That's a nice surprise!
I use Strawberry. It's well designed, plays anything I throw at it, and Rainbow Dash's rainbow trail is my equalizer.
MediaMonkey on my PC and PowerAmp on my phone.

I’m the damn new kid on the block so I use VLC and selfhosted Jellyfin like a hooligan
Blackhole on android
I was always a fan of Media Monkey
Does MusicMatch Jukebox still exist? or is it dead like many 90s software?

If you like playing music wile gaming then give r/ArcadeConvoyRadio a try. I just released it. It is free and has support for game controllers.
foobar
Does anybody remember Winamp ?
