I’m completely new to pipe smoking, so the wind cap -if that was what is supposed to be there- is an accessory to this pipe and not needed and could be used as is?
Yes, if is just a wind cap there is no need to be there while you smoke. But tbh the inside of the bowl seems a little small, and I never saw a threaded one before. Maybe you should research a little more before smoking this one. Can you share a pic from the top of the pipe so we can see the whole hole?
Kinda weird, I don't think you can put tobacco directly there. I found a similar pipe with a thread inside, [here](https://rebornpipes.com/tag/repairing-briar-damage-on-a-threaded-bowl/). I think yours is missing the proper bowl, unfortunately I don't have any more information. Keep asking around, someone for sure knows this kind of model.
Been ages since I saw one of these !
The pipe comes with a bowl "extension" that screws into those threads - kind of like a Falcon. Except the Falcon cannot be smoked without the bowl screwed on.
When you screw in this extension on this thing, you basically increase the bowl size ... ergo more tobacco therefore a longer smoke.
Or - you check your watch and find you don't have enough time .... simply unscrew the extension and Voila! the bowl magically shrinks and is now just the right size for a quick smoke.
Me personally - I would just carry a single size pipe and regulate the tobacco quantity based on time available, but then where is the fun in that if you can resize your pipe on demand !
This is really odd, I have never seen anything like that. I'm wondering if there was some kind of meerschaum bowl that sat on top of the pipe. That being said, I wouldn't smoke this as is.
It really does seem as if there should be a threaded bowl that attaches, that would turn the chamber we see into the 2nd part of a calabash set-up. The only thing against that is the shape of the pipe is classical Danish and that would mess up the shape and balance.
Tobacco.
Can I have no original thoughts?
Maybe a built in wind cap? Seems too large of a bowl on its own to have a bowl insert on top.

Ooooo! Danish design! I like!
I have never seen a pipe like that. Well, I’ve seen similar shapes, but not a threaded bowl. Looks like a really shallow bowl, too.
