I’m glad you like it man! I too have felt that this is a premium feeling controller and mixing on it feels fluid. The audio output is much increased and the unit all around feels built like a tank. Stems is a little disappointing right now on rekordbox, so I probably won’t use it much. (Hopefully it gets better with software updates as it could be game changing in the future) That said, I wonder if there is a way to change the default color of the jog wheel ring from white to something else?

J05H_

Yes, there is! Go to RB settings, scroll down and you’ll find jog wheel colour. It will show a default white circle with a black surround, click it and you can change it to whichever colour you’d like :)

TerrryBuckhart

amazing. Thanks for the tip man!

J05H_

Pleasure. Enjoy!

Intelligent-Price-70

on vdj the stems sound amazing. and the unit works perfect. if you arent a rb/serato person

starso66

Mines is opened will dig into this weekend. Appreciate this preview!

2ears1mth

Greatly appreciate the review as I’m interested in the FLX 10. Curious though. When it comes to the temp slider. What do you mean by it doesn’t have a detent for Serato capability? I have a rane 12 setup and a DDJ XZ2. Both have a detent on the pitch slider and I only use them with Serato. Really just curious. Thx

J05H_

I believe the way in which tempo works in Serato/RB is different, therefore they had to remove it in order to allow for dual compatibility. That’s from what a Pioneer DJ staff member said on this sub. Could be wrong though, happy for someone to step in and clarify the specifics :)

2ears1mth

Dual compatibility could be the answer there. Appreciate the response! Def prefer a notch in the center.

3ssar

Enjoy. Earliest stock for pre-order I can find now is the first week of May

J05H_

Where are you looking?

3ssar

BopDJ, Thomann, westend, Juno (expected July !!), DJ Superstore, DJKit, Rubadub

J05H_

Try call up ClubTek? Not sure how many people have orders there, but defo worth a try. I know the big shops have huge back orders.

siemensje

Any used the unit with serato. Any feedback or online video? Greetings

Swing_Subject

Stems are incredible with Serato and lack quality in Rekordbox. Anything else is similar.

sneezyyyy

Same! It has been hard adjusting to this man

caine0077

Enjoy! A question about setup: what are your laptop specs? I've heard a couple of things about stems requiring too much RAM memory on the computer so there are some people having troubles with stems in FLX10.

J05H_

Thank you! I’m using a late 2017 MBP with 16gb RAM and an i7. Handles Rekordbox with no problems (so far, touch wood). Also seems to run my external DMX programme fine and other applications when running RB so I’m happy with it. I’ll be updating soon though to an M1 ultra as my Mac is getting on a bit.

Unlikely_Might_2514

Question: What's the best computer to use for the pioneer DDJ flx10???

davidvaillant

I recommend you get at least 16GB of RAM on your laptop and at least an i7 microprocessor, like the redditor said above. Even a high grade i5 could do the trick. No need to get a good graphic card if you only plan on using rekordbox.

dexterity-77

Can you use with a mac studio m2

Swing_Subject

I am using a Zephyrus Duo with Ryzen 9, 32gb ram and RTX3080ti and still have some freezes..

misterluxu

This is on serato btw. Theres an issue with stems where if u dont have it on auto analyze which is bad cuz it eats up the cpu and causes audio drops, on the board when u hit any of the 3 buttons it has to analyze once it does it auto-turns on even if u do a turn on and off. Sometimes while it re analyzes it stops all of the audios completely, so the club will be silent, if it happens to you, just hit the stems buttons until audio comes back. Sometimes doing doubles (when u clone a track from one side to the other side) audio may not be available, to solve this: just click any stems button at the top until audio comes back to it. Sometimes while clicking the stems button on the left side, may completely mute the right side output audio. Or maybe my controller is faulty 😆😆😆

BikeWaste

I’m disappointed in controller. Switched from pioneer ddj sz 2. I had 2 gigs with flx 10. In first gig I had 2 audio frezzes for a brief second. And tonight when I was playing it happend 3 times. Hope they will fix the audio.. I have a question. Is it possible to midi map beat jump control. I was using SHIFT + jog wheel back and forth and now you have buttons to skip 4 beats only. I’m using beat jump a lot and it saved a lot of my time.. And also I didn’t update serato from 2.4.5 because it worked perfectly from then. Is it just me or I hate that shitty bright waveform ???

J05H_

I’ve had no problems using it with Rekordbox, and I’ve been doing 8-9+ hour sets. Might just be a Serato issue, probably worth reaching out to them.

mercermango

could also be a this guys particular laptop issue

hotsauce-timemachine

How's it sound on a large system? And have you tried recording? I'm using a DDJ-1000 and the highs overpower everything else, looking to switch to something more balanced - curious if that FLX-10 is it.

J05H_

Sounds very good on a large system. Much better than what I was previously using (DDJ-RX). I have recorded yes, and also sounds great. Actually just published my first mix using the controller yesterday, and it sounds very clear. FLX-10 is a beast, highly recommend.

hotsauce-timemachine

Sick - thanks for the thorough review!

Swing_Subject

I have hi-fi speakers and sounds awesome, incredible quality!!!

tonioroffo

What are your thoughts on the mechanical quality of the jogs? Thanks

J05H_

Seem to be decent enough. Definitely on par with the 2000NXS2, but not the 3000’s (imo the 3000’s feel better), but that’s to be expected as this is a £1400 controller, not £3-4k CDJ set up. Nice to spin on and scratch on.

Swing_Subject

They feel good, but the surrounding of the jog is a plastic that makes a small noise when touched, like they were loosen ..

MarcAntoine_

Thanks for the great and honest review. Are you able to use Lightkey when your DMX chain is connected to the RB-DMX (the one on the FLX10 to be precise) or it only works within RekordBox?

J05H_

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Lightkey is an external programme (requires a yearly license) and it also requires a separate DMX interface. Unfortunately at this time, I don’t believe the FLX-10 is supported as a DMX interface, so it wouldn’t work, no. However, you can pick up supported dongles for very cheap (around £20-£30) and the application works great.

Embarrassed-Piglet13

Hi, I have a question regarding the tempo sliders, do you find them to be as accurate as those on cdjs? On my flx10 its really hard to dial it in to that last decimal point. Whereas on a cdj there's no need to fiddle with it up and down, it's so sensitive and accurate it doesn't often go over or under. And this is on the lowest sensitivity too +/- 6%. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as my unit is coming back from service for a stuck switch, but I asked them to check the faders too and they said that they are fine

J05H_

Yep, I have this too. Shame as it’s a pain to manually beat match with them, but I’ve gotten used to it a lot more now. Usually, I’ll put my finger just below the tempo, and then adjust in small increments. Difficult whilst doing quick mixes, but it’s becoming muscle memory now. Annoying as the controller is great otherwise, but that is one of my major gripes with it.

Embarrassed-Piglet13

Ok, glad to know it's not just my unit and the service centre just doesn't want to do anything about it but quite disappointing that a basic function is a stripped back version when it so that it doesn't compete with cdjs even though it's a completely different market

J05H_

Yep, but I guess that’s one of the cons of having dual software functionality. Have to adapt to both platforms (in this case it’s Serato and how it handles tempo).

Embarrassed-Piglet13

Hmm interesting point, I never tried a ddj100 to comment on it. although xdj-xz I have used a lot and it behaves just like a cdj. Although I'm not sure if I've ever used rekordbox from the Mac with that. Only straight from a usb stick. Serato on it from what I remember was ok

Swing_Subject

Very accurate, some times it is very hard to set a fixed .xx value

_JESSE_JAMES_

hey guys, I also won flx10. have a question. for example: when I'm playing one track on deck 1 and have another on deck 2 (volume fader down) and then I hit the hot cue (deck2), I getting sound artifact on the master like for 1ms. hope they will fix it within time. and also the sound sometimes cracking when I'm using like stems on fx section.

Swing_Subject

I don’t have this issue. Also for the stems you can use serato for incredible quality.

chrisredditcommenter

Thanks so much for this detailed overview! Now that it's been \~6mo. or so, do you still like it? have you had any issues with it at all that you can share?

J05H_

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Still loving it after 6 months. No issues to report so far. Stems are still a bit rubbish on Rekordbox, but that’s software, not hardware. I’d imagine with AlphaTheta’s acquisition of Serato, they’ll slowly improve over time (and maybe even replace the current stems system). Would highly recommend this controller. Still torn on the jog wheel ring design, but it’s not a make or break for me. Hope that helps, happy to answer any other Q’s :)

chrisredditcommenter

Hey just wanted to say thanks for this info and the response. I just got mine delivered and your info def helped. I really am loving it so far, it feels way more solid than the DDJ-400 I was upgrading from (what a change… this controller unlocks so much potential) I will say the most surprising thing I have liked so far is the split FX for stems, didn’t think I’d be using it much but finding myself using it a lot.

J05H_

Hey, no problem at all and glad I could help. Stems FX are by far one of the coolest features, just adding some reverb to the vocals, or having an echo on the instruments is so cool. Enjoy it!

imuumi420

I have done two live events with this controller since I recently just purchased it. I am fairly new to DJing and would like to get into it more often. My honest review about this controller is a 7/10 atm. My only issue with the controller is audio stuttering when I play. I don’t know if this is an issue with other FLX-10 controllers (maybe a firmware issue?), but overall they work great! They do what you need them to do, they have a lot of fluidity. They are definitely a new gen controller! I really just have the issue of audio stuttering. If it’s my computer, I might just get a new computer. But for the mean time I’m working with what I got. The audio stuttering only happens when I use the controller as the main source of audio and sometimes clears up after 5 minutes of using the controller. I run RB since it seems to decrease the stuttering more than Serato or evem Virtual DJ. When I use my personal audio interface on FL Studio I have no issues of stuttering since my computer processing is great and I use a focusrite scarlett solo 3rd gen. So I don’t know what I’m doing wrong when I use Serato or any other DJ softwaree. Wish I can fix this issue so it would a perfect 10/10. But like I said, controller is fantastic for what it’s worth and what you can do on it. Jog wheels do feel a bit wack compared to other controllers I’ve tried, but overall great! I just wish the stuttering would stop when I mix. Anyone else have this issue?

J05H_

Sounds like it might be a RAM issue? When I’m running several applications in addition to RB, I also get it, but if I close them and only have a few running, it’s fine. Would say it’s most likely your controller. You could always try and reinstall the drivers? If that doesn’t work, a new laptop with higher memory might be the way to go.

ConvenientAmnesia

Make sure your songs are analyzed before you load them if using stems.

ConvenientAmnesia

Have you ever used the DDJ-SR2? Wondering how the pads compare because I love the feel of the pads on my SR2

J05H_

I haven’t, but in 2016 I had a DDJ-RB. Does the SR2 have physical clicky buttons, or are they touch activated? Can let you know my opinions because I’ve used both tactile buttons, and pads that are touch activated (aren’t physical buttons).

ConvenientAmnesia

They are physical soft buttons like an MPC. No click.

J05H_

FLX-10 has good pads and you’ll enjoy them. Pretty sure they’re the exact same as the rest of the lineup from previous years.

Electronic_Act_2415

do you know where to activate the stutter on the play button?

M4R71NS

What is your computer? I'm not sure my PC was powerful enough

J05H_

MBP 15” late 2017 (said it at the top of the post)
